As for D-cals, well, I can't wait to add my Hawk insignia to some of my favorite `Mechs when the time comes. Provided, of course, we get the means to add our own d-cals to the game in the near future, and I don't see that happening anytime soon.
In any case, Alex. You're doing great and keep it going.

Just saying. People would take roll cages (Not covering the cockpit) over nothing.
I mean, look at the S Urbie, a work of beauty.

One and only time I will ever indulge in a Collector's/Ultimate edition. My money has been put where my mouth was back in September-ish (I think...can't forum-search the thread up anymore). Pretty much the last Clan 'Mech I will ever need. 'Bout time to polish off those old Cicada moves again, except for having ALL the delicious jump jets.
EDIT:: never mind they fixed forum search. See - I back up my talk. When Piranha lets me, anyways.
Interesting to read your post for 18 months back. You missed the call on the ACH (and then they quirked it to boot). I am glad the Viper finally made it. I was a supporter of the Black Lanner (because speed and ECM). The Viper somewhat satidfyies my need for speed. The only Clan Light I own is the KFX so the Viper will serve as my "light" Mech.
That was a great post. I like to see people get enthusiastic about something in this game and actively promote it.

I did miss the call on the Arctic Cheetah. Heh, though to be fair, I was pretty g'damn gobsmacked when the Cheetah came in, and as I recall there was just a wee little twitch of a forum reaction to the ol' OmniSpider that might have born out the reasons why I figured we weren't ever going to get it Still fun to go back and read that old thread, though. Heh...remember when the Ember was good enough that comparing a Viper to the Ember was actually valid?
But yeah. I was wavering on how much Viper to get into at first when the 'Mech came out (was never going to not buy it, but the Collector's packs are such atrociously bad deals...), but in the end I figured that if I was going to do things like beg Piranha for a toy, I shoulda oughta back up my begging when the toy becomes available. means I get seven delicious Vipers to play with, two of them with C-bill boosts. Fortunately for me the Special camo on the Prime(S) looks like it'll be pretty slick, too. Already trying to figure out which Medusa variant to run as my Main Squeeze - hex cERSL and quad cMGs, or hex cERSL and dual cSRM launchers. Gonna be one or the other, but which one...hmm...

I was thinking 6 ER Smalls and 2 SRM-6's myself. Or 4 machine guns.

1. How deep can the attack queue be? 10 seems to be possible but what will happen by 11 or 20?
2. How fast can FP shutdown by LT?
3. And how long does it take to master a mech in the scouting queue ghost drop war without a single shot or kill a single enemy?
I hope you have buy enough fingerfood and beer for the Cold! Scouting War :-)

This mech will be too light to fit a decent ballastics with some backup weapons IMO but we'll see I guess.

a bit, what I want to see is more how much of the side profile is probably ST and how much arms and how much CT. the unicolored sideprofile doesn't show this. Also abit problematic is this size if you look at the vipers surface compared to circada, it makes me wonder why the viper isn't NVA sized.
At this size the viper will heavily suffer from the NVA and DRG profile issues I guess.

pretty much this, its either spl or ersl, the adder with only 4 meds + additional heatsinks was already horribly hot, now havign even less podspace will surely make this just a knife fighter like most 35t mechs just on 40t base. even the CDA can do "more". Only way to alter this is PGI doig some real nasty quirks like -15% CERML heat.

Like the Ice Ferret and the Mist Lynx, this mech never featured in a Mechwarrior video game. Not even in the MW2:GBL, which supposed to include the most used Ghost Bear medium mech.

Outside the A variant, which...doesn't honestly make much sense, the A's not THAT bad...there seems to be huge accel/decel quirks on this chassis. 50% or greater, up to 60% on the Medusa, as well as heavy twist/turn. Mobility-quirked up the wazoo, with some small but actually fairly well-targeted weapon quirks. Still lulzy MG RoF quirks, but frankly even those might be semi-almost-useful on an Ember-style Viper. 20% RoF is still more DPS out of the BB gunz.
I am quite surprise. I was not expecting extensive prequirking on the Viper, not given its dinky-gun-boating potential. On the one hand, fabulous! MOAR VIPAH POWAH! On the other hand...I've never been a fan of enormous-as-hell quirks recktopussing the game, and furthermore it makes me wonder how fragile the thing was in testing that Piranha decided it needed better mobility than most actual straight-up light 'Mechs.

And, the same as with the Phoenix Hawk... "oh look, ballistic slots... well, let's quirk machine guns. Because they pack some hell of a punch..."
Crap. Should've given the ballistic pods some quirks on ballistic cooldown and ammunition (like, double the ammunition per ton, or sth like this).
At least the first Clan Heromech get's the Oxide treatment: superior quirks for Mr MC-Hero. To be honest: they're far from the oxide-level and won't make the mech insanely OP. For this to happen, the Viper as is has to be OP, and I can't see that coming.

The Viper has thirty klicks and, generally, 4+ hardpoints on the Pixhawk. Seriously, people. Seriously. A ‘Mech doesn’t have to be 85% gun to be worth anything in this game. Provided it has non-disastrous hitboxes in the final pass, the Viper could make for a surprisingly effective striker/skirmisher, with butt-tons of lightweight lasers backed by SRMs, low-heat machine guns, or possibly more lasers.
