TBH trying to make light mechs good against anything heavier than other light mechs is a perversion of what the game is meant to be. Light mechs are supposed to be able to deal with infantry, soft vehicle targets such as convoys, light tanks, Helicopters and hovercrafts, thats what their speed is "supposed" to be used for(incidentally that's ALSO what Machine Guns are meant to be used for). NOT for trolling the f**k out of an assault mech to the point the pilot wants to quit.
They r SUPPOSED to die with 1 or 2 LRM volleys or a single hit by a LLSR for this reason. Traditionally a light mech is going to have a fight of it's life if against another LIGHT mech!. Pit it against a medium, heavy, or assault, and it's SUPPOSED to be GAME OVER.
IMO PGI needs to add soft targets for them to go kill, then needs to NERF THE F**K out of their armor so they die like they're supposed to. Add some sort of PVE game mode with just other light mechs involved maybe, so that running light mechs is actually fun.
As for TTK being too short, don't make me laugh. TTK has been extended artificially(by doubling armor levels, and nerfing weapons and heat scales) to the point where ALL weapons feel like a joke. Lasers feel like laser pointers, PPC's feel like water balloon launchers, missiles feel like hurling coke and beer bottles, and AC's feel like using sling shots...
I know it's supposed to give new guys a chance to get used to the game, but how about adding a "Hardcore" game mode with no doubled armor, no Ghost heat nerfing, no DHS nerfing, and no weapons/sensors nerfing, so the game can be played like it's supposed to be played.
Not to mention the perverse re-designs of ICONIC giant robot designs. Dougram doesn't look remotely like Dougram anymore(Shadow Hawk, Battlemaster, just to name a few). Marauder now looks like a baby Stone Rhino with a laughably over-sized cockpit(I feel like I've dodged a bullet here as my Archer isn't "too" disfigured, although cockpit placement is completely wrong, and the legs and feet are slightly too small).
