Personally I do see the C-bill Bonuses as a unique feature. I "opened" my wallet and bought a basic bushwacker package + hero as I wanted to take advantage of the unique opportunity to own a MASC equipped Cataphract WITH bonus. I love cataphracts and I really enjoy the masc equipped wolverine. After building out a load out on a 1X? cataphract that could be modified slightly to mount masc I knew that this was a mech I would play often.

That may not be 'unique' to some, but to me it is. Had I not taken advantage of the customer appreciation program I would never again have the opportunity to own the masc equipped phract WITH the C-bill bonus. Seeing as I believe I will play this variant more often than the others attaching a unique bonus of c-bills to it, for life, was worth it.

I've always used/interpreted unique to mean "unusual" more than one of a kind. Even the mechs/patterns/geometry that PGI calls unique is simply unusual and not one of a kind. To me a one time offering of loyalty versions of basic mechs that get C-bill bonuses is more unique than a hero mech that can be purchased by anyone at anytime.

Anyways, I am looking forward to my ECM Stalker. It'll give a better firing perspective than my Cyclops.

One of the things I really enjoy about the reward 'mechs are when I get something I either haven't tried yet or introduce me to a 'mech I had no prior interest in.

The first batch kindled my love for ballistic Mediums with the Centurion.

The second lot introduced me to the Cicada and Wolverine, both of which I hadn't given a 2nd thought before I played them.

Third time around, the Blackjack looks to be my next surprise (one of the few Mediums I've not gotten to yet) - hm, seems I like Mediums more than I thought :P Stalkers get a lot of praise and I'm looking forward to finally piloting one. Getting another Loki and 2 (TWO!!) Thors? As 2 of my favourite chassis and 2 of the 3 'mechs I bought when I came back to the game, I am one happy customer :D

Everyone should be excited about getting a BJ.

They're surprisingly good little mechs.

Stalkers & Summoners for me. I already owned the champ and hero BJ and the Hero, Champ and 0XP cataphracts. I bought a summoner B yesterday on sale to go with two I'm receiving in 3 weeks. I'll buy a couple stalkers once the loyalty rewards inject. I don't see my having the time to play them until then anyway as I have thirty mechs to master in the garage currently.

(This is the Odanan forum member, not the Odanan volunteer moderator speaking)

Guys, this discussion if a [S] mech is unique or not is pointless!

Resuming:
  • Yes, special mechs are unique, because they give a bonus (C-Bills or XP).
  • No, they are not unique because you can play with the exactly same variant without spending a dime.
So what?

Is making your "point" in the internet so important that you need to insult the other guy? (and violate the CoC in the process?)

This discussion adds nothing to the forums or other people's lives. Let's keep civil, please?

LOL Posted Image ... I skimmed some of the posts ...

I can't believe that folks are arguing over the definition of "unique" ... LOL ... don't you have anything better to do with your time?

Google ...

unique

yo͞oˈnēk/

adjective
adjective: unique

  • 1.
being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else.
"the situation was unique in modern politics"
--------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.merriam-w...ctionary/unique

Simple Definition of unique

  • —used to say that something or someone is unlike anything or anyone else

  • : very special or unusual

  • : belonging to or connected with only one particular thing, place, or person
-------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.dictionar...m/browse/unique

unique

[yoo-neek] /yuˈnik/

adjective
1.
existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics:
a unique copy of an ancient manuscript.
2.
having no like or equal; unparalleled; incomparable:
Bach was unique in his handling of counterpoint.
3.
limited in occurrence to a given class, situation, or area:
a species unique to Australia.
4.
limited to a single outcome or result; without alternative possibilities:
Certain types of problems have unique solutions.
5.
not typical; unusual:
She has a very unique smile.noun
6.
the embodiment of unique characteristics; the only specimen of a given kind:
The unique is also the improbable.

---------------------------------------------------------

https://en.oxforddic...finition/unique

unique
  • Being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else.

‘the situation was unique in British politics’
    ‘original and unique designs’

  • Belonging or connected to (one particular person, place, or thing)
‘a style of architecture that is unique to Portugal’

  • Particularly remarkable, special, or unusual. ‘a unique opportunity to see the spectacular Bolshoi Ballet’

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

So .. the definition of "unique" includes BOTH being one of a kind unlike anything else AND particularly remarkable, special or unusual (but not necessarily one of a kind).

As a result, depending on which definition you choose to believe, and ALL are valid (so choosing to believe ONLY the more restrictive definition is, in fact, wrong), everyone can continue arguing about whether something is unique or not and never reach a conclusion if you differ on definitions Posted Image

Only in MWO will you find 2 ppl with so little actual real life that they argue the semantics and root useage of the word unique. Must be grand tourney players working off that tension between 20 hrs of hide warrior online practice.

I find it unique that members of our uniquely unique online forum community can craft two unique interpretations uniquely defining unique with the most unique ways of comprehending such an unforgivingly non-uniquely defined word. Posted Image

...oh, and I'm super stoked about both the ECM Stalker and the MASC Cataphract. Love both those chassis and can't wait to try them out!

I also have 'phracts right up in the top of my favorite chassis list. Fantastic mechs.
I have never tried the MASC on my Wolverine... for another forum topic or PM but interested to know how it runs for you and builds sometime....

Anyway, the -1X phract is the one I don't own. What sort of build (you say they'll be similar) do you plan to run on your MASC 'phract?

You're giving yourself far too much credit

So far in this thread in order to avoid answering difficult questions you have claimed I lied, I was banned and now that I am someone else. Fortunately, your argumenta ad hominem are all the credit I need.

Unlike you I have not lied, I was not banned as my posting history shows and I am not someone else.

Sadly, a full 10+% of this thread is you berating people for expecting a “Loyalty Program” to reward loyalty. Do you not expect people to reply? Do you simply not understand how forums work? It should come as no surprise that many are going to disagree with you and your obfuscation of their issue(s).

Given how you seem to have first hand knowledge of events that predate your joining, by your criteria, you and Jay would be the same person:
you both sound/post the same
you both have poor attitudes
you both do not know what you are talking about
you have both replied to me when I was addressing someone else.
you are both different factions

Defining someone else, only defines yourself and you doth protest too much, methinks.

Do the new clan heroes factor into this promotion? What would be considered "top" tier in that case since they are all singletons?

They do contribute toward eligibility for the 2016 Program.
Acquiring any one of these Hero 'Mechs prior to the deadline would qualify you for the base Clan Reward.
Acquiring any six would qualify you for the Top-Tier Clan Reward.

Previously the whole argument for not including mechpack hero and reinforcement purchases was that "this years program is locked and will not be changed" yet they just changed it to include clan heroes...and that whole argument just went out the window and now we are back again to PGI only "appreciating" selected purchases.

But hey, I fully expected Dee Eight to respond, it must be hard to keep his white knight gear clean if he doesn't reply to anyone who questions PGI

Others have said this repeatedly. PGI is under no legal, moral or ethical obligation to offer any loyalty reward program at all. That they do it at all is a bonus for the customers who spent money in the period they run the program eligibilty for. I started playing in January. I didn't make any of my purchases based on getting bonuses in October. Its their right to set any sort of eligibility requirements they choose to. And no their whole argument hasn't gone out the window since folks asked about steam performance pack purchases and they added them to the criteria for the black jack reward. BUT if you want to apply the "hero" math to this discussion... to qualify for the top IS mech reward...you'd have to have bought SIX hero mechs in the past year based on how they just explained that six of these new clan hero's counts for the top tier clan mech rewards. But its up to PGI whether or not they'd want to do that.
