unique
- Being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else.
‘the situation was unique in British politics’
‘original and unique designs’
Belonging or connected to (one particular person, place, or thing)
‘a style of architecture that is unique to Portugal’
Particularly remarkable, special, or unusual. ‘a unique opportunity to see the spectacular Bolshoi Ballet’
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So .. the definition of "unique" includes BOTH being one of a kind unlike anything else AND particularly remarkable, special or unusual (but not necessarily one of a kind).
As a result, depending on which definition you choose to believe, and ALL are valid (so choosing to believe ONLY the more restrictive definition is, in fact, wrong), everyone can continue arguing about whether something is unique or not and never reach a conclusion if you differ on definitions
