Nothing like an FW event to remind me why I've only really played FW during events since Phase III.

15 months since Vitric Forge and counting.

There really needs to be a queue, both group and pug, with a choice of attack or defend. I don't care what planet I'm fighting on, I just want to quit waiting or not getting into a drop because I was a half a second too late to get that last spot.

I'd love to get stuck into this event but the teams of randoms, meta builds and bottle neck maps really don't provide much fun. Gonna keep at it but all it really does is highlight the problems needing fixed.

I won't be participating in any CW until the waiting is removed.
I play for a few hours a night total, I don't want to sit for long chunks of time waiting for an match.

Make all the planets contestable and let us drop after a VERY short delay, opposition or not. If there is no opposition, or it is a small attack against a small defense; throw in some missile turrets, or some other minor obstacles. If it is way sided, or only attackers in the queue throw in more environmental obstructions.
Let the planets be attacked as much as possible to get as many players as possible into the mix as much as they want.

Sitting waiting sucks.

Is this an event based around the current broken version of FP, or is it a preview of the new version?

The broken system, but i wouldn't assume the new system is going to be flawless.

The event is still pugged. I played as Clan, and completed only the Clan-specific challenges, but received the Zeus mech. Now I have to switch to IS to complete the IS-specific challenges to try to get the Executioner mech. I hope PGI fixes this, especially for the loyalists.

So I tried to play FW ... am sad - took a long time to figure out how to set up for it with drop decks (and no actual help docs) and then I tried to find any matches for a freelancer just to get my feet wet and guess what sit in a call to arms lobby for an hour alone.

This bloody well sucks for what looks like it could be a fun game mode.

It's actual the opposite for me. yea FW leaves something to be desired but It can get pretty exited if the match is right.

I doubt that happens often though, certainly the case for me anyway.

I have 15 mechs last I counted - most of them elite or better - plenty for a full IS drop deck (for invasion) and a mech short for a clan deck.

So yeah it's not a lack of hardware - I just can't seem to find a match and it's bumming me out.

I'm having fun, did 8 Invasion matches so far, 5 of them where solo drops and got 7 wins. Its all about reading the queues and picking your fights carefully.

You can't find a match cause you are not alligned to a faction which you have to be to take part in the event.

How does that work? What I read is it's supposed to let you play as a freelancer through the call to arms system but that's done bugger all for me.

I'm kicking some serious ***. :P

One day in, and I've got almost all the CW challenges finished, even KMDs.

Get with a team, baby. You got this!

Here's what you do:

-You make a 1 man unit for yourself.

- u pick a faction and sign a 1 week merc contract for that unit.

- if you don't like the faction and want to try a new one you LEAVE the unit

- that will set u back to freelancer instantly

- then u make a new 1 man unit and pick a merc contract with another faction
