Looking at this in their POV, I can see why they would be pissed off.
A lot of people here have spent THOUSANDS of money and have supported the game from the very beginning. Seeing it all slowly fall and crumb away because of bad decisions and game designs would most certainly piss them off.
I've been playing on and off since UI 1.0 and have spent $0 on this game, but even I feel like the game is dying and won't survive another 5 or so years unless big (and good) things happen. I can't even imagine how those vets are feeling when they have invested so much in the game. Personally, I would say their anger is justified, but I do think there's just too much of it and all this negativity is just bleh.
I've only been playing for about two years. I was so enthusiastic for CW that when I heard it was live I came a runnin' and over the next year and a half dropped over 2K to support it. That enthusiasm ended in April and so did the spending. I have no anger about this, merely disappointment.
If PGI can manage to make an immersive CW mode, as they originally advertised, I will return to my free/obscene spending ways. Likewise, if the game becomes pretty much an arena shooter and nothing else (as the president of PGI seems to want) then my disappointment will turn into indifference, and I will likely find something else to direct my time, my money, my hope and my enthusiasm toward. I have nothing against esports, but if that is all we get, at the cost of the "end game content" that PGI once advertised in order to attract me and people like me, then yeah they will never get another dime from me. I suspect a lot of other people feel the same way.
