why? why is being a current player of the game a criteria to have a valid criticism? will you take their criticism more seriously if they right now logged into the game, played a match, logged out and said the same thing?

if an ex-player came back to say he loved the game despite not having time to play it for the last 6 months, i'm pretty sure you'd be happy to have his opinion because you want an echo chamber. not actual criticism or discourse that can only improve the game.

essentially, what you're saying is something akin to "you can't say drugs are bad because you've never taken drugs and/or you're currently not taking any."

argue the point raised, not the person raising it.

I feel bad that it took a buch of drivel to take a dev out of his hole but at least now we know what it takes.

Wait? a hole? a WHOLE hole? all I got was a desk!

Jokes aside, I poke in here because I want to contribute more than the vitriol makes me want to stay away.
PM me here or in game anytime, I'm happy to share what I can.

Now, if only Russ and Paul would come out of their bunkers and address the community's concerns, that would be the icing on the cake. Sadly, I don believe that they will come out because they are too afraid of what the the community might say to them........

Then might I suggest if you haven't already that you read my thread here as I believe it conveys the feelings of a lot of players, especially the ones that don't play anymore.

And there is not to much vitriol, at least from me. But then again if you like that sort of thing.....

I think by "vitriol", he means "anime memes ". If so, I'm still not stopping.

If this Mark guy really wanted to address things he could but then again he is probably muzzled from really getting in depth about anything publicly. There is plenty of posts regarding feedback for him to address. His popping in and inviting PMs does little to really address anything unless someone wants to take him up on it. I imagine his inbox is full so good luck being someone that gets a reply. Would he really say anything in PM anyway? I doubt it because it would then be regurgitated for us all to know and that would not go to well with the overlord puppet master.

I always imagine that people troll forums (see above) on games that they no longer play just have no friends.

I feel bad for them. I wonder if they still go to Nientendo forums to troll Super Mario World?

"Why did you make this level 2 blocks too high? Like 0 online player, Nientendo fail!"

yet another example of an ad hominem attack instead of addressing the actual argument.

you actually see this a lot in trump's speeches. amazing how many people actually think this is a valid way to debate issues.

Something I'll never understand is, why is a COD 12v12 arena shooter dubbed "a thinking mans game"? Are they just reusing the slogan from past MW games like legends, or do they really think it applies to this game? lol

Why, with no vested interest beyond slagging a game they longer play?

Feel too strongly......about what?

It didn't fit into their version of a perfect game and therefor they must slag it at every opportunity?

The crux is they don't play anymore,

Lets leave the complaints to the players that actually do play now.

If the game isn't any different now from when they played their complaints are still just as valid and accurate now as they were when they played. Even then it doesn't take a lot of imagination or ability to read some patch notes to see and understand what few changes actually do get implemented.

Looking at this in their POV, I can see why they would be pissed off.
A lot of people here have spent THOUSANDS of money and have supported the game from the very beginning. Seeing it all slowly fall and crumb away because of bad decisions and game designs would most certainly piss them off.
I've been playing on and off since UI 1.0 and have spent $0 on this game, but even I feel like the game is dying and won't survive another 5 or so years unless big (and good) things happen. I can't even imagine how those vets are feeling when they have invested so much in the game. Personally, I would say their anger is justified, but I do think there's just too much of it and all this negativity is just bleh.

And it's pretty disingenuous to see you use the generic term PGI when in fact you are reffering to an individual who happens to work at the studio that produces MWO. You have no idea how hard that individual works or argues for a better game in their meetings. Clearly he plays the game, which is a complaint leveled at most of the devs, and if he plays, he's probably much more aware of the issues and morale within the game than others at the studio who barely play.

So I'd say direct your ire where it needs to go, at the management (who, according to glassdoor have a hard time listening to their employees too), not at the department that has consistently been spot on in delivery. In this case the art department.

If he is aware of the poor results that come from going against the wall of Paul and head in sand Russ it is pretty disingenuous of him to suggest anyone work there when he knows it would do no good.

I've only been playing for about two years. I was so enthusiastic for CW that when I heard it was live I came a runnin' and over the next year and a half dropped over 2K to support it. That enthusiasm ended in April and so did the spending. I have no anger about this, merely disappointment.

If PGI can manage to make an immersive CW mode, as they originally advertised, I will return to my free/obscene spending ways. Likewise, if the game becomes pretty much an arena shooter and nothing else (as the president of PGI seems to want) then my disappointment will turn into indifference, and I will likely find something else to direct my time, my money, my hope and my enthusiasm toward. I have nothing against esports, but if that is all we get, at the cost of the "end game content" that PGI once advertised in order to attract me and people like me, then yeah they will never get another dime from me. I suspect a lot of other people feel the same way.

I am with Piney. How can you b**ch about a game that is free to play? IT IS JUST A GAME! Get out of your parents basement, get a life and enjoy it. Don't like it, don't play.

Ah, one of those threads...

Bitter Vets, huh? Just another buzzword like White Knight. What makes the OP think that people who complain don't actually play the game anymore? What makes them think that our observations about the game are less valid than theirs? I've watched the growth (or lack thereof) of this game for years now, spent hundreds of € on it, but I'm supposed to keep ky mouth shut about flat-out stupid changes? How about this? If you don't want to see complaints, stay off the forums, or the entire internet, just to be sure.
