I'm obliged to point out that you're technically incorrect, even if hell would freeze over before PGI offers it's newest mech as an event prize.

Yeah, but its already "featured" in this event and one could argue that since the leaderboard is for a new clan mech, plus the LB for all the new clan Heroes...

...this is a meager bone to throw the IS folk if nothing else.

I, too, only own Clan Mechs (except for the NCIX one recently given away). The real limitation isn't that I'm opposed to playing them, it's that I have three hundred hours of experience tweaking Clan loadouts on Clan mechs with Clan equipment*. I don't have the resources to spend on fine-tuning/mastering an IS mech, so it simply won't get used much at all. It's not a total loss and I don't feel shortchanged by the event in any real way but I do think the suggestion of being able to choose between an IS and a Clan mech for a prize would be cool in a future event.

Also... there's this. So that helps. Posted Image

*Away with your 'What? That's nothing! I have, literally, a million hours of experience at every facet of this game! I p0wn in any mech, any map, any mode!', etc. responses. These aren't the posts you're looking for and we don't serve their kind here.

"lance in formation" part - come on - most folk run around like headless chickens making this exceptionally difficult to achieve . . .

Know that if you end up selling your Grid Iron, then you'll be in good company along with many other pilots, including lots of IS players that already own it or would rather have the cbils and free MB.

First, it is the gridiron because of the american football theme.

Second, this is a hero mech, not a special/loyalty mech. You can sell it and keep the cbill gain and have a shiny new mech bay for another clam mech.

Finally, the only time being a clan/IS "purist" even affects your choices is in faction play, considering its state that means there is a good chance you do some QP which has no tech restrictions which means the only limitations you experience are self-inflicted and no one else's fault. Since there is no clanner mech that can be otherwise worked into this football theme I suggest you be grateful for the free swag and roll with it like all the other clan "purists" that will get a free mb and extra cbills by selling their gridiron.

Neg, the Linebacker is absolutely perfect for that. What better way to advertise a new product by giving everyone a free sample? We would still need to buy two more to master it out.

I'm rather lost as to why one experience doesn't cover both as they're just stats on a placeholder weapon really ... fairly sure theres no skill called Clan Weaponry Expertise which gives you special bonuses with clan mechs. Posted Image

You are either a troll or greedy. Or to put it another way you may understand better ... NO YOU CANNOT HAVE FREE THE HERO MECH THAT ONLY ENTERED THE GAME THIS WEEK AND A LOT OF US JUST BOUGHT!

See easy. Posted Image

I always wonder how anyone can be 'shortchanged' by getting free stuff. If you don't want the Grid Iron, sell it...yay, free mechbay! If you already bought it and don't want another, sell it...yay, free mechbay! If you really don't want it to ever disgrace your pristine clan hangar, don't do one portion of the event...it's clear you don't care about the C-Bills or else you'd get it as isorla and sell it...yay, free mechbay!

Rather, you should feel sorry for all of us chumps who won't free up that shiny new mechbay and keep it filled with a mech that, as I've read in this thread, got gimped into uselessness a year ago (or was dezgra by not belonging to the correct tech base). And to think, some of us silly unsophisticated rubes will even be happy about it.

It used to have a pretty sweet guass cd that made it unique... i think if you don't own any hunchbacks, its not terribad, but it may be somewhat redundant if you do own certain variants.

Grid Iron isn't useless by any means, it just became less over-powered during last winter's re-balance effort in the Dec 1st patch. It went from a combined cooldown quirks for the gauss rifle of 50% down to 30%. It also lost its medium pulse quirks, and its energy cooldown quirk as well. And since that patch it also went down on its energy range quirk when they did that other energy quirk re-balance around march of this year. They also lowered the gauss cooldown to 5 seconds from 6 though at that time, so effectively Grid Iron once again, shot nearly as fast as it did before the re-balance. Before re-balance it was every 3 seconds (before module/fast-fire skill) and currently its every 3.5 seconds. Anyone newer than December 1st 2015 to the game of course isn't going to know what they missed out on, except via salty complaint posts, and youtube videos. But that goes for all things in the game's past (like the quickdraw 1000% missile cooldown quirk).

If not familiar with what changed, the patch notes are here.... http://mwomercs.com/...rk%20Values.pdf

Lance formation was the first one done for me. And no one even said a word about needing to stick together for the event. It was quite amazing.

10 out of 14 would have been nicer, yes. I hope to find a PC with MWO capacities while away from home. If not... yeah happens.

The hero is thematically a good choice. Giving a Linebacker (not the hero) would have been really bad. It would have forced some players to buy the mech just to complete the leveling. And yes, I men forced. But thanks for the nagging people. If you cry hard enough, perhaps there won't be other event prizes like this.

There are people that try to give constructive feedback. Feedback that may influence the next events. Especially after PGI took community feedback into consideration for this. And it is different than the events before. I appreciate it. Despite the fact that I might miss out on the hero because of the amount of needed days.

For Mr Dunning-Kruger:
You forget to mention that the research is not that high regarded by psychologists. Other fields love it though. Remarkable, if you think about the theory. People that are not experts do what again? And yes in this case I call it experts... because otherwise it would just mean you are insulting other people (which insult you here too, yes I have seen that. Must be some strange kind of love-hate relationship going on between a lot of users).

For all Mr "I need someone to fight in every thread"
Please just stop. You don't have try to prove your point excessively in the forums. Use PMs and come to a conclusion. This is no pissing contest. Discussing the pro's and con's of the event is good. Only with that input following events can be better. But try for once to keep a thread constructive. Get your anger out there and stomp mechs instead.

Thanks!

Just to make it clear: these are my personal opinions. Some people seem to be a bit slow on getting that volunteer mods are players too and not PGI staff. We have our own opinions. And yes we even rant about PGI from time to time ;-)

I agree with you so I'd suggest working through that bit of the event in a heavier mech. Alpha Lance/Lights rarely stick together in QuickPlay matches but Charlie Lance *usually* drift apart a lot slower.

So on this note, I agree that being in Charlie Lance helped me to finish my formation goal. However it also helps when you go over comms and remind Alpha and Bravo to hug Charlie for free event swag. I have done this in almost all of my nine or so matches, and all of my Lance formation and protection goals are complete. Now I am running damage dealers to strip off components.

Thx for the mc the cbills and the cockpit items. Hero mech giveaway is nice and thx for the free ncix centurion as well. Ive gotta say i didnt actively do the objectives but it went hand in hand while playing - no hussle, i like that. Could there be a chance to choose from at least two mechs like the one with the crab and nova selection couple events ago? I cant think of a clan medium hero thats been around before the clan hero releases, though.

Now that it is given away, maybe they will consider reverting the quirk to previous iteration? You know when it was just right?

Maybe they toned it down a notch because some or many non-owners were complaining it was P2W?

I know it sucks now... Point is it wasn't at all OP with previous quirk, you still need know how to deal with how the Gauss works to get the most of it so... please now that everyone have a chance to get it make it special and desired like it was before.
