It stays in their account as GXP. If you used the GXP for mech / module skills, it gets refunded back when they implement the new skill tree.

But if XP and GXP are both turning into Legacy GXP, aren't you out on the MC spent in the process since otherwise, you'd end up with the same total XP after the conversion whether it was XP or GXP?

I am fine with these. IDK why everyone hates the new Roughneck. I think it looks unique and very much like a proper industrialmech should However, its a hard sell for me considering how much other mechs will be able to out-perform it :(

Took 1 look at the hardpoints/tonnage and it got an instant NOPE. Like the assasin.

They will be giving that back over as Legacy Gxp if you spent it already. You spent your cash, they aren't giving that back. I suspect over time you will max out the new quirk system with mech xp and thus have left over mech xp again.. unless you buy a 2nd or more of the same mech which will have to have all the quirks unlock on that mech individual as explained during Russ time on stream.

If that's the case, it just seems kind of skeezy to encourage folks to dump a lot of MC on converting XP to GXP before making a change to turn it all unilaterally into the same XP, is all.

Assassin wasn't actually as bad as I first thought. The 4 missile variant would be a monster in scouting.

I have always supported this game as best as I can, but to be honest, and I am not the only one here thinking this, take away the factions for CW and you more or less put a bullet to the head to half of your community(You don't even have the full collective of factions to begin with).
But hey, you guys are only in for the profit, we get that, but with Eve becoming now for free, and other games such us Battletech stomping the ground, good luck keeping this game alive, after a slight insight into the changes, i know i wont be investing anything further. You can bring out more mechs, and maybe a new map with fuzzy colors at the expense of two older maps, still wont change Jack.
With this new Mw5, i can see another repeat in history like with Tactics... and since that game, has and always be at the back of the minds of Founders, and Long term players, you are going to get a lot of negative feedback from here out...
The whole reason why I liked this game (Battletech-Mechwarrior) is because of the lore. Yes you guys have some good designs of chasis and cockpits, but that's it. There is no story, no adventure, just pvp (counterstrike in mechs). As Rick Sanchez says "Well la de dar" - Slow Clap

the Skill Tree change sounds like THE WORST ******* THING EVER ANNOUNCED!!!!!!!!!

I've spent years Mastering and selling Mechs, I only keep 1 or 2 Variants, if you strip all my Mechs then I'm going to have repurchase all the Mechs I have sold to spend XP to remaster them. There needs to be some clarification on this quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The MW5 page looks allot like the Transverse tease page, was the Transverse team repurposed? If so, this is good, it means that PGI have learned from their mistakes.

No, this is good and something that was promised before Beta. The original Skill Tree was supposed to be like an MMORPG type skill tree where you could make different builds for different situations, but it was dumbed-down to get it out the door quicker. I am very happy to see this actually being worked on. Hopefully we will get real collisions and collision damage as well as Death From Above soon too.

From the stream, there will no longer be requirements to have 3 chassis to max out the skill trees, so you'll be golden.

Are we ever going to get the MW5 mechlab in MWO!! I want to bask in the glory of my mech in my own mech lab where i can walk, or even drive, around. A floating camera for when i customize my mech would be very welcome too.

Pretty hyped for MW5. Uncertain about the skill tree idea; I'd like to see more about the particulars. Full C-bill refund on elements excluded from the game (according to the Twitch stream) is a must and a very good call.

Im super suspicious... its unclear to me how its going to work and if i still need 3 mechs to unlock higher level skill trees, then this game has just died for me. 192 Mechs Mastered and working on another 13 after taking about a year off (no internet)... so I'll have ridiculous amounts of Legacy XP as well as every Module Slot, but if i cant spend it than thats the problem. if every mech is individually counted then fine but if the chassis need to be unlocked then I'll have to spend 100s of millions of C-Bills to duplicate all the work that i have accomplished already.

No, ZUUL, Russ was very clear that you do not need 3 variants of one mech to master the skill trees, so you can just work with what you have currently.

I_AM_ZUUL, but wait there's more, by the time you finally get around to completing all your mechs and spending more C-Bills, they will intend to make another change down the track just because they can!

Does it improve the game? Who knows, is it apart of the battletech universe, unlikely.
Sorry I just feel burnt!
