What do they mean under "Mech' IK"?

I searched for it, but found nothing...

Your mech's feet align properly with the ground it stands on.

Leg positioning was taken out to improve performance. PGI is trying to return it to the game with minimal performance loss.

Ah, thanks.
I still wonder what are those letters stand for, but anyways, it looks awesome.

Mechwarrior 5 Mercs, huh okay... to announce a new single player game its fine with me but every thing else MWO, not impressed. We got hyped before and we know how it ended with CW/FW.

Pre-Alpha MW5 Mercs, to early again PGI.

We'll see

That we will my friend, that we will.

With that said and TBH, I do have a bit more hope today then I did yesterday.

Happy for IK.
Happy for a new Light TBA.
Happy for new skill tree.

Glad to read CW is not abandoned. But this is where I must take the wait and see approach. Battle for control of the Inner Sphere IS Battletech therefore CW, IMO, IS MWO. Without a thriving, engaging, and relevant CW experience this is just Hawwken with a Battletech skin and I am not here to play that crap.

New ??? MW5m has HBS hand the drawings are theirs already see the scene and only see per-alpha of the new Battelech. An Rvn note when you drive through the engine has XL and also a nuclear engine, so you send half of the base through the air. more one good joke :SSS

Looking forward to the changes coming with this road map. December 13th's patch is right around the corner, and it will be nice not to have to wait to see them for long.

Revamped skill system look pretty sweet as well, I just hope that each mech will have a skill point quota to spend on certain skill trees and that you can reset skills on the fly, limited only by the total mech EXP you have to spend on the skill tree path. Please make sure that the skill tree for a mech will allow for respec when a pilot get's tired of the current build and wants to try something new. Would be great to respec the same mech anyway the pilot wants, without having to buy multiple chassis of the same variant...i.e. I don't want to see multiples of the same mech chassis in a hanger just so pilots can run multiple specialized builds.

Why not even consider making certain specializations pilot based instead of mech based? Maybe it's simpler to keep it confined to an individual mech, but it might be even simpler to just think of pilots having certain skill paths they can specialize in with points to allocate into PPC or gauss mastery for example. Including both could be the best of both worlds, because each mech chassis is unique and could be fully customized, for extra speed, agility, or heat dissipation to name a few. Looking forward to testing the new skill tree out on the PTS when it becomes available for inspection and feedback.

Keep up the great work to continuously improving the MWO user experience.

The part I’m most excited about finally seeing in game is this one:

Quote

'Mech Collision Improvements
The work required to implement reliable mobility for the AI-controlled Atlas 'Mech at the center of the new Escort Game Mode necessitated a re-evaluation of 'Mech collision code as a whole. As a result of this work, 'Mech-on-'Mech collisions will now operate much more smoothly, causing less 'rubber-banding' and warping. These improvements should have a great effect on the feel of close-quarters combat.

If done well, this opens the way to actual melee combat.
(Next step would be Roughneck chainswords, ofc! Posted Image )

Good to see PGI chugging allong. I am still playing Fallout 4 for about 6 months. Still waiting for new tech. Until then, will patch, log into test to see things, then log off. Wallet closed.

Looking forward to not leveling my troll mechs anymore and just patiently waiting for the new skill system to be implemented so that I can Shang Hai surprise the enemy to my heart's content with unspeakable super powers (aka skill tree pathing).

I sure hope mech skill trees and experience allocation can be reset and adjusted on the same chassis. Last thing I want is three or more KDK-3 variants in my hanger just so I can specialize one with UACs, LBX, gauss, or PPCs. Then again...nope, nope, with a side of nope. One mech to rule all the skills as a player sees fit. Limit the amount of specializations, or allocated EXP, but don't limit the ability to reset and rebuild from the ground up with the same mech and try other specializations.

No one notice the design flaw in the HUD in the pre-alpha footage of MW5 Mercs, speed bar and heat bar are horizontal instead of vertical. Since when Mechs have turn indicators ?

IK, will it really affect gameplay of its just eye candy ( second option is the most probable )
New Skill Tree, remains to be seen but from the preview, looks like we will witness players getting disabled even faster.
PGI`s Mech, nothing special.
New Light Mech TBA, just an other Mechpack.
Solaris 1v1 and new map, was a joke then, still is now. We been playing Solaris since 4 years already.
December road map, not much here, CW/FW will stay a ghost town.

I am looking forward to seeing many of these changes implemented (some are long overdue). The skill tree "refund" though has me a bit worried. While I am glad to see all the xp/gxp I spent over the years will be refunded what I am more concerned about is will I be able to have the same number of my mechs mastered (or its equivalent) as I currently have? Will I be able to have the same number elited (or equivalent)? This is far more important that having all the xp/gxp refunded...as much as I am eager to see a revamped and more unique skill tree I also don't really want to have to "re-grind" any mechs that I have currently completed.

What version or CryEngine MWO is running? I read 3.5 heavily modded? Since then there was 3.6, 3.7, 3.8 then 5.0, 5.1 and latest is now 5.2.3 so would be a good start to read a patch notes saying some changes coming are in preparation for such an update. Also pretty sure this would open up a lot more possibilities for later, models, physics, collisions, improved graphics, name it!

In fact I really hope this is planned in 2017, this would mean they are moving forward with a newer and better supported engine which would show they are also planning the future of MWO.

Those of you talking about Unreal, this would require starting from scratch so no.

So... Will we ever see that single player campaign experience again?

I'm sorry, all of these new features announced are great and all, but it's something I would expect to see of a game that was already released with a full single player campaign.

Is it that you don't have a story? I've got 4 chapters of my own work that I would be willing to lend. Is it that you don't have enough programmers to pull it off? There are some bright up and comers out there that I'm sure would love to help. Do you need voice actors? I'm pretty sure many in the community would be happy to give their voices to MW history. I'm not really seeing the reason as to why... is the escort mode supposed to be an AI test or something?

I am so glad he had the town hall meeting with everyone over faction play. so now faction will be a second quick play. Thanks russ and pgi. didnt listen at all.
i play this game for faction play and for a team and group play.
so they dont have time to fix faction play but they have all this time to create a first person shooter. also great new quick play maps and modes, and where is the promises for faction play.
i have stopped buying new inferior is mechs.
i am not a lore person but there is a significant number that is and that is alot of your long term player base is. pgi just keeps ignoring them or not paying enough attention to them.
maybe they are trying to shift to a younger player base. Big mistake your lore players hold this together. just look at who was at the finals, the people in the room!
until you fix faction no more money from me. also buying a different game today tired of being ignored.

So... you totally skimmed over the bit where they mentioned they were developing a standalone, single-player, story-driven campaign? Here, let me quote that for you:

And in case you think that blue text is just fancy font work, it's not, you can click on it, and it takes you to a site with some more (albeit little at this stage) information. For the curious, that site is http://www.mw5mercs.com/ (<- You can click that too!)

So now that I am home I can post one of my feelings better on the skill tree revamp.

Not so sure trashing all quirks is a good idea. Structure and acceleration quirks are meant to help underperforming mechs with more survivability. It may become a game of who can load the biggest gun, or who has the most hardpoints. as i said in another post the removal of quirks can seriously hurt underperforming mechs. Should all mechs be created equal? No, but they should all be somewhat fun to play.

I read everything and "Meh" IMHO!

I learned a long time ago not to get my Hopes up for "new things coming" in MWO!

I'm looking forward to the "BATTLETECH" beta game due out in late 2017? :)
