I still think it should be 3 lances to 2 stars.
Dropship total weight is +/- the same as with the change.
Superior range makes it that clan should have damaged more the enemy when they start brawling and the numbers difference would probably even out things.
The current weight makes it so that most clan assaults are not viable as dropdeck option.
Imo PGI not considering that approach is a bad start. When creating and tweaking its bad to see what you only want to see.
Also it doesn't matter if you have units like MS,SO, 228 dropping in a 8+ group. Teamspeak and game skills make it that if they only took and 80t dropdeck they would still win. Faced once MS, 12 man group and in my team were i was the only merc, half loyalists and the rest freelancers answering the call to arms. At our second wave we had been spawn camped.

Again, PGI has stated they can't effectively do stars v lances. I am not sure why or how thoroughly they investigated the feasibility, but they have said they can't do it. So we can say "it would be better..." until we are blue in the face, its not gonna happen.

The other part that is near unenforceable is the behavior of clan pilots... if you really want lore, you have to recognize that ultimately the clans were beaten back not by improved tech, but by exploitation of their honor code. Point being, most clanners today would probably be dezgra based on how they use clan tech.

The salt will flow when the loyalist clanners are reminded that the majority of talent in this game resides in the merc ranks....

Just look at the scores for individual mercs versus loyalists.... its already clear who does the heavy loading...

how much talent do you have to take on warhammer and grasshoppers with lights/ mediums?

If you looked at the war logs for the last few hours (before the reset), it looked like the clans won 39 of the last 40 drops...

Simple solution : Make Mercenaries work individualy (remove freelancer option) and not as units. Equalise tonnage to 300tons for all. Make the map as it was (not this unified war which is lore fail) AND PUT "UNIT"TIERS ON MATCHMAKING. So big groups will have to make arrangements to spread on all factions and not stay on specific two or one. I dont care if I have to wait 60 minutes for a CW game if that game is fair for both sides.

What would you do instead? Forbid big teams to choose a certain side? And tbh, 240t is good enough. Sure, the big trained units will seal club - or continue to, as they did before. But if it is IS pugs vs Clan pugs, the IS now can stand a chance.
I see it that way: differences in tonnage = challenge. I accepted (ok, I always ran below the max drop tonnage, but whatever).

Sure but clan premades get wrecked by IS premades.

So in summary of the screenshots above; all clans still win more often than lose, all IS still lose more often than win. Are the margins narrowing? Yes. FFR almost to 50/50? Yes.

But the fact remains that *generally* clans are winning despite the 25 ton deficit... just not quite as often.

So if you are clan and losing, you are doing something wrong, be it not bringing the right mechs, not teamworking harder, or something. Instead of pointing the finger at PGI, you need to look at your peers as the majority of them are winning despite the 25 ton deficit that has now existed for most of the young season.

I know some of you are put off because you may have only bought mechs to have exactly 250 tons and now can't pull off 240 w/o buying more... no matter which side you play:
1) you need a lot of mechs to cover all the scenarios, anyone who said you only need 4 for success in fp was lying or naive.
2) get used to tonnage tweaks. They happen. This time to clan, next time they'll screw IS... we live with it.

Remember that every time you take 5xCERML on any clan mech IS mech would pay 15 tons more for similar weaponry. Small tonnage shifts won't change inherent imbalances in clan and IS tech and will only bring resentment from both sides.

Balancing should have been done by different mission objectives and maps, adding rest of the better inner sphere tech and implementing bidding for clans so you can bring less mechs for better rewards. Treating IS and clan mechs as equals will only bring tears.

Is everyone forgetting that CW used to be 240 clan vs often 250-260 IS?

Stop acting like the sky is falling and take your TBR/SCR/SCR/SCR or HBR/HBR/SCR/SCR like always.

Tonnage is (currently) the easiest balance fix, followed by making IS contracts very juicy.

I would think true Clanners would be up to the challenge.
After all, part of the honor of a Trueborn is to accept challenges from a lesser standpoint.
When it cames to attacks, the group or in case of multi-Clan attacks the Clan whom bids the lowest amount of resources in terms of weapons, manpower, 'Mechs, etc. -- in other words the smallest possible force -- is the group that gets to make the attack.

"I can do this with 2 Kodiaks and 2 Stormcrows."
"I can do it with 1 Warhawk and a Kitfox."
SOLD! You with the Warhawk and the Kitfox, bring us victory!

Where's your Clan spirit?
Hell, if things were proper... you'd be 5 'Mechs against 12.
Plus IS vehicles and infantry.

Indeed. It's the Freebirths crying out, not the Trueborn.

Yeah, like a heavy that can effectively do Gauss + 2 ER PPC, or 2 Gauss + ER PPC? How about an assault that can effectively do dual gauss + 2 ER PPC? No? Hmmm....

You are coming off as pretty clueless, as balance DOES favor Clan mechs right now, but the issue is definitely exacerbated by some skill disparity as well, when I was playing with the IS the amount of potatoes on my team was intolerable. BUT, that doesn't change the fact that Clan mechs are a bit stronger. Hell, the best mech in each class is a Clan mech...

I hate how limited my options are with drop decks at 240t. The much complained about Kodiak is effectively out of the game mode due to how much it neuters the deck. I don't really use it anyways, but I always hate when games limit my options and flexibility.

That being said, I have yet to lose a FP game since the update, never dropping with more than 6 people I know. So clearly there is an issue and short of forcing pilots to move or somehow turning LRMs into meta (please god no) I'm not sure what else PGI can do.

KDK-3, ACH, 2x HBK-IICs with 10 tons left over. Hardly neutered when you have the best assault in the game, 2 of the best mediums in the game, and one of the best lights in the game...

That deck will be obliterated by someone who can aim.

Simple solution is to just set FW in 3025 and only allow stock IS Mechs that were available in that time. Keep Clans in QM and private matches only. Also, limit the amount of Mercs that any one faction can hire at any given time. Just make it 200 tons / side, no quirks, totally stock 3025.

What I suggested in my last post would fix most of the problems, the only problem that would be left would be the disparity in player skill level, which can never be "fixed" because all humans are not equally skilled, or even in their ability to acquire said skills.
