You must have missed the MW5 announcement Posted Image

I think they have started to recognize that. But I think it is still bringing in money for them...

Blood asp and black lanner for me. Hopefully no madcat mk2

Ouch, a bit harsh. I could turn around and say Blavklanner sucks and shouldn't be added. BUT I am not that petty

Plus the poll says quite a few players want the Mk II sooooo we should ignore them?

Considering a lot of people also want the Wasp/Stinger, I could easily say this poll should be taken with some serious salt.

Sadly, I think people voted honestly. Atleast that mech choice doesn't have people trying to spite it ala Mk II has.

If they released IS Omnis, they'd have all my monies simply because they would be interesting to build around and figure out how to use effectively, unlike Clan Omnis where when all else fails your engine speed saves your hide.

For other, I like the hatamoto chi and the Avatar. Would love to see what Alex does with pretty much everything.

This has diminishing returns though, as nostalgia will (and has for some people) stop selling mechs and with chances for redundancy increasing with each release, it isn't sustainable. Honestly the model reminds me of some Marxist things about increased productivity (productivity being creating new mechs) actually being self-defeating (there is a better word I'm looking for here).

They really need to find a better revenue stream.

Agreed, but even if they did find an alternative revenue stream, it still wouldn't make sense to cancel mech production. MWO already has an insane number of mechs available verses other MW titles, but a mech modeler and texturer isn't going to be coding. If they have the staff hired, either they keep them doing their jobs, or they fire them when the job no longer exists. For the sake of the developers whose job it is to make mechs, I hope that doesn't happen any time soon. For the sake of those who still want a specific mech or mechs, I also don't hope mech production halts. Hell, with sufficient numbers of mechs, one could even start to add extra depth to the CW scene, what with faction restricted mechs or variants of mechs.

Any way you slice it, until MWO is no longer being worked on, mechs will continue to be produced. Right now, it keeps the revenue flowing, though not forever. As you said, they need to revise their income model. Badly. Only so much blood they can squeeze from that stone.

Well, looking at the limited amount of battletech crowd funded orders, I highly doubt that PGI will be able to do anything else besides sell mech packs at this point in time. They are trying to sell a niche product to a public that has never heard of battletech/mechwarrior, divided by a player base with only so much money to spend, divide that by the battletech purists/salty players who refuse to buy content, divide that by the lack of advertising (word of mouth aka free advertisement could go a long way if they attempted to reestablish better communication with their player base), and divide that with the people who want/will only pay real world money for their favorite nostalgic mech.

I blame the lack of dev to community interaction and the failure of marketing (Remember when Paul and Russ went on the forums to respond to the community over a stupid rumor? That's the only interaction we get from them besides f***ing twitter?! Don't get me started with Town Halls).

As salty as I might sound, I still want this company to be successful in the end.

The lack of advertising for MW:O really does make me sad. The game could really use some website banner ads scattered around the place, that's for sure.

Deimos for my Other vote. Despite it being post-Jihad or so timeline wise there's enough current-game tech variants in to fill out a basic 3 pack. Just add a hero, fill out with two other variants for a reinforcements, and there we go.

I would enjoy a few more weapon systems.
Medium range missiles
heavy variants of lasers
Hypervelocity autocannons
Rotary autocannons
Laser ams

How about ammo types? That could put a definite spin on game play.

These are the weapons we COULD have without moving the timeline forward:

MRMs, HVACs, RACs, HLs are all 3058-2062 weapons.

Ammo types can't be added, as due to events, PGI can't get it to work with the weapon code.

I'll need some sort of citation on those ATM numbers. Pretty sure ATMs were only released in 3060?
