Ok, having actually gotten around to voting, here is what I went with:

Light- Arctic Fox- Quite simply, its a Light that defies the notion that "Lights are scouts". Any Light that does that is a good Light in my book.

Medium- Men Shen- Super Raven. Need I say more?

Heavy- Don't care- none of those junkers look good to me.

Assault- Hauptmann- The one IS Omni that doesn't explode when it loses an ST. Also has a laser cigar.

It just occurred to me that, from a speed perspective, the Arctic Fox is basically a max engine Urbie Omnimech.

...Hm.

Because you denied the canonical first IS Omni.

Which one is that, the AT-ST Raptor?

As an Assault buff, I would vote for the Templar, but HOLY HELL, IS OMNIS SUCK!

People voting purely on performance perplex me. People want icons, not obscurities. I, and most other's, don't care what will be meta cheese. It's why I grabbed the 'Wacker without caring about hitboxes/hardpoints. It's why a lot of people do the same damn thing with any mech that's iconic enough.

And the Wacker is still far better than Strider or Owens. Think about that.

I can, because the Avatar isn't strong enough to actually "answer" them.

Only if you strictly apply clan omnimech rules to IS omimechs. Allow them unlocked equipment/upgrades+omnipods with fixed engines then viola. Working MWO IS omnis.

Yes, yes the early IS Omnis do suck for the most part... A couple of them are 'okay' in TT, but the ones that are 'okay' in TT would get butchered in their TRO look in MWO... I'm looking at you Avatar and Sunder....

Things get better at generation 2 IS Omnis, such as the Templar, Men Shen and Hauptmann, but they really shine in dark age+ for example the CN11- series Centurions are well designed.

Do you know how much salt Clanners would pour on to the forums, with such change?! Might as well rename General Discussion to Dead Sea!

Omni mechs construction rules are the construction rules for Omnis, regardless of faction. They need to apply to both sides, less the side that is forced to abide by them looses their s*hit when the other side doesn't have to conform to them.

Given that Clan Battlemechs have the same rules as IS Battlemechs...PGI would most likely make the same apply to IS Omnimechs vs. Clan Omnimechs.

You'd have a higher chance of PGI making their own non-canon "Mk II" improved versions of IS Omnis (e.g. Strider Mk. II with XL, DHS, and no CASE) than actually unlocking them.

The Sunder has Jump Jets, you know. Non-mandatory ones, too!

None of them really look THAT great to me, but I suppose the Men Shen could be sort of cool if I had to pick one.

Voted

Raptor
Firestarter Omni
Black Hawk KU
Sunder

Mostly because of looks, diversity and filling in tonnage gaps of 25, 45, 60 and 90 tons.
Also tried to avoid voting something that could totally obselete its predecessor eyc. Like the Strider over Cicada. Then again, its an Omni with hardlocked stuffs, so that shouldnt pose a threat.
