The thing is, the Men Shen is actually good, while the Blackjack will be slow for it's weight and the Firestarter would be a larger Firestarter, with out the ability to swap out the flamers.... they be hard wired yo!

Go play MW2.
Though I want the Raptor because I like my lighter lights and because it looks derp. That it can also bring 8x MedLas if it really wants to is icing.

erm... I'm going for lore, but also not horrible under MWO's building and game play mechanics (meaning no locked SHS or really unfavorable geometry)....
Don't get me wrong the Strider and Owens would have decent geometry, but are bad due to being locked to SHS, the Avatar could be decent to good, provided they give it a make over, big flat ST's with an IS XL are not favorable in the current high alpha PPFLD environment.
Mechs like the Templar, granted she does have her problems, her open crit layout sucks really bad with out crit splitting, but her geometry (big arms, like Battlemaster big) looks okay, she has DHS, Endo with a decent XL engine for her weight a 340 make her a force to be reckoned with.
So not all of us are as you so put it "Let's dredge through Sarna for the cheesiest mechs that fit MWO mechanics. **** Battletech lore and history! I want mah high hardpoints and hitboxes!", some of us want a balanced and thoughtful approach to make this mech type not a total waste of development time for PGI.

Light Mech 'Winner' - Raptor. First Omnimech, fits lore and history for being an early Omnimech release
Medium Mech 'Winner' - Men Shen. Arguably the 'meta mech.'
Heavy Mech 'Winner' - Tie, Avatar and Black Hawk-KU. Same year, tied for first heavy IS heavy omnimech.
Assault Mech 'Winner' - Sunder. Earliest IS assault omnimech.
So, ok, the Men Shen is the 'cheesiest' MWO compliant omnimech. All the other poll leaders fit the fluff and lore perfectly, regardless of their physical characteristics.

As Bombast says, this would be the BEST bet for a IS Omni. It's one of the first. I want to see what Alex could do with this baby.

All of the IS Omnis have pretty significant drawbacks. Some have more drastic weaknesses than others, but none of them are perfectly razor-optimized like the Timber Wolf.
And seriously, all of these mechs exist in the lore/history. It's not like we're voting for entirely made-up mechs like the Roughneck. What you really mean to say here is mechs that have been present in previous MW games.

Sorry. Doesn't have it's own page, so it didn't show up when I was digging around.
Though... seems like a **** move to give the IS a copied mech before its available to the Clans. But it should have been in there anyway, I guess.

BlackJack is too slow, Strider is stuck with SHS, Firestarter has hardwired Flamers but otherwise ok, but MenShen is again the obvious choice. The counter part to Stormcrows, albeit not as good, but with access to ECM
Avatar & Perseus too slow for my liking, but otherwise not too bad. Black Hawk has a good engine, bet mediocre Hardpoint locations. Since I like fast mechs I'll go with the Big Nova
Hauptman too slow. Templar and Sunder both good, but went with Sunder

If by "**** move" you mean "completely hilarious" then I agree.
Anyway, of the choices I quite like the Men Shen, it's really neat looking and is also not terrible.
'course it's only symmetrical in the artwork and not in the loadouts, so it'll end up as bastardized as the Marauder... ... maybe I don't want it then, let's go with the Raptor instead.

Here's a really old spreadsheet of the Sunder using a crappier format, but I'm too lazy to update it.
