PGI says Fire Moth is not possible due to game engine limits that prevent things from going over some speed limit. Now, the http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Fire_Falcon on the other hand is perfectly legal, weighs just five tons more and completely outclasses the poor Mist Lynx just as the Cougar obviates the Adder (as it is supposed to anyway) and the Kit Fox (that H config ).
Yeah, about that Fire Moth...
Russ has been hinting at it for months. There was something on his twitter. And someone captured this...
And there were other comments about the Clans finally getting a 20-tonner but...oh well?

But it must be said.
I really can't see the cougar or Anihilator having good places in a game that's got a much larger focus on mobility and the ability to stick with your allies.
the Anihilator is instantly out of place, with people having to either downgrade its weapons loadout or armour to increase the engine to allow it to keep up with the rest of the group or the entire mobility of the group is gonna have to be compromised in order to baby sit slow Anihilator pilots in order not to be running off and possibly losing one of their assaults early game.
The cougar is gonna suffer similar issues with it literally being a slower Adder with the added vertical mobility afforded by jump jets. It won't be able to contend on a speed and monuverability level with other lights in the same tonnage bracket or lower and heck, even some of the already existing mediums will be able to out pace the darn thing, compound the the problem of omnimechs not having the option to change engine ratings and all your really left with is an undertonned clan medium... without the speed of a light mech....
However, that's not to say the mech won't have its uses. I can imagine the ECM varients omnipods being utilised in support of slower mediums, providing close support for heavier assault and heavy mechs or being utilised as a stealthy back biter in groups against larger mechs. But that's honestly all I can see it being used for at this moment.
The Uziel looks like its profile will afford it some nice peaking opertunities with weapon placement of its potential hard points being located at cockpit height or just above it and suffering only a minor profile problem with those higher side and center torso areas. The ability to poptart seems to also be a prospective option with this mech as it's high mounts and ability to jump allow it to have a certain amount of opertunity doing so without exposing much of the mech and providing targets to opponents to capitalise on. And it seems to have some nice speed for its weight. Overall, I'm liking it *thumbs up*
Now the finalist... the wonderful looking Mad Cat MK2! (Someone give Alex The biggest, most succulent and delicious cookie!.... and a round of aplause!!!) Really like the way this thing is looking. Those high mounted arms don't look like they will have much in the way of horizontal movement, but their position will afford this mech the opertunity for peaking exchanges without exposing too much of itself other than that hump above the CT which might nullify the placement of those arms anyways... (I really hope that lowers down or at least becomes less exaggerated when not mounting missiles)
The placement for other weapons though i am very interested in, will they be placed on the shoulder up high like the Ebonjaguar and timberwolf variant with the 3 energy on one side torso? Or will they be lower down like the timberwolf with those chin mounted ultra 10s?
Either way the speed of this mech will be a very, very nice to have as well as the jump jets providing it with a much higher mobility than many clan assaults whilst also retaining its firepower. Me like! I think the Marauder 2C might of just discovered a worthy advisary in its fight to dominate the clan assault line, but we shall see when it's realease date comes closer and more information is provided to us.
Overall as stated at the start, I do like the mech selection here, but out of them all, the Uziel and MadCat mkII look set to out shine the other 2 mechs by a Solaris mile.
My 2 cents, o7

I have some banked so its no skin off my teeth, but i know for a lot of folks that is what "sealed the deal" on these packs...
I suppose their argument could ne the fact that they come with new tech?

Also the Cougar, 81 kph for a light mech, meh...
gotta remember Mobility and Engine size are being uncoupled next week. the Anni has never been a fast mech, but it has always been one of the most firepower heavy IS Assaults ever.
that and honestly i've always ran my 100 tonners with 300s anyways. 48/52kph with Speed tweak is more than enough.. plus.. as a tanky-as-hell Assault, you're likely to be LEADING the group, so they have to keep up with you... and.. given the Annihilator's serious amount of firepower, it's a Mech Clanners will avoid being in front of, as well.
@Kat: the Gausszilla is also currently impossible, as well as being non-canon, since there's no "sharing" between crit sections. If we'd gotten stuff like Small Cockpits and Compact Gyros, maybe.

Also- Ow, my nostalga. Ow, my wallet. But the recent developments seem worth it (and it was my birthday last week, and I recently got a bonus, so you've hit the jackpot of easy money).

Don't see the Annihilator's place?!? 4xAC20, that's it's place! Sure, you can only fit one ton of ammo with full armor, and the smallest possible engine... but, do you really NEED more than one ton of ammo? One shot, one kill!
I'm disappointed the Annihilator hero mech isn't Gausszilla... but that would have required some fudging of the game rules to make possible...
It's a shame, I was really expecting the Fafnir and the Blood Asp... but the paint on that Hero MKII <3 You've definitely got some of my money for that baby, and I don't even really LIKE the MKII...

Question. If an ultimate pack is purchased, will it include both the hanging (+5%) cockpit items as well as the standing (+5%) cockpit items?
Comment: It would be nice if the ultimate packs were 5 bucks cheaper or at least included 60 banked time.

Read carefully. You need both coguar and mad cat mk2 collector packs. One ultimate pack does not count, both do.
