Man, I want the Charger so bad. Not only will it be good for Battletech DLC and Mechwarrior 5, but it will be a steppingstone for the Hatamoto.

If the Stone Rhino becomes the next mechpack for June, does this mean that other mechs like the Black Python, Vapor Eagle, and Bane will be off the hook? Because they really don't look like any of the Macross mechs.

Depends.

Those mechs were originally done by another company, and legit aquired for BT They were lumped in with the OG 19 unseen when they decided on the "no outside artwork" and redone in a TRO update with new in-house artwork.

Sadly, the artwork on those is wildly varying. Some designs look amazing(Viper), some very unflattering and exceedingly different.

We'd probably get the re-designed versions of them. Which imo would be sad, as the OG Behemoth is vastly superior looking(IMHO).

BUUTTT, Even though the tech isn't there, we could *POSSIBLY* see some form of Solaris mechs from the OG S7 box set that we're re-designed from the original Studio Nue designs.

There are alot of pre 3050 and 3055 Clan Omnimechs/Mechs out there. We have many but not all. Leveling machines makes this game fun.

Alter the loadout to use current tech weapons, and this thing would be a beast.

2xLB10X, 6xMPLs, and the rest is just piles of MGs is the loadout I'd run. I would pay folding money for this mech as soon as they announced it.

So it's obvious that people gravitate towards mechs that they're familiar with but which mechs do you think people would buy if announced even if they're not super known. Also, try to think outside of your pet mechs haha.

Well the next mech is going to be a clan light or medium as those seem to switch up quite often in their rotation.

Now the issue is are they going to go with another mech from the Civil War Era or are they going to get another mech that is from the Invasion era to help out HBS with any clan future DLC.

Out of all the 35 ton mechs only 3 would be valid combat worthy mechs, those would be the Spirit, Ocelot, and the Wolfhound IIC, as the Horned Owl looks like it right out of Gundam, and the Ostscout IIC is a reseen mech and mounts no weapons. So out of the three the Wolfhound IIC is not listed as full production or even limited production. The Spirit has looks neat, however it has only 2 variants. The Ocelot has several version and looks nice however most of the version are from the Dark age and is weapons limited for a 35 ton mech.

For 30 tonners there is the Hellion an upgraded Mist Lynx with good combination of weapons and equipment including MASC. The Incubus which won't happen till HG get kicked to the curb. The Mandrill which only has 1 variant and it mounts dual LRM 20s and is slow as an assault mech. The Pack Hunter which is more of a fast light sniper and mostly hard point starved. Finally the Urban IIC if they give it the same variants as the IS version with the same quirks this would be the best 30 ton clan mech hand down also quite likely if they want it for the clan invasion era for BT.

First up in the 25 ton cat we have the Bear Cub which is looks to be a Battlemech version of the Omni Mist Lynx. The Commando IIC seems is just an upgraded version of the IS Commando so I see potential here. Fire Falcon which is stated as an upgraded version of the Mist Lynx yet crossed with the design of a Jenner so I don't think it is much of an upgrade as most of its weapons will have limited arm tracking. As for the Icestorm it seems to be way to fast for the game engine at 190 kph so I bet that is out. Now the Locust IIC seems to be a great mech for consideration as it is a battlemech and a great mix of builds on a 25 ton platform. The next mech called the Sling isn't much as it is an old design from the star league and is a lightweight missile boat. Finally to round out the 25 tonners the Solitaire which is just a laser light which tops out at 163 kph and a MASC version which hits up to 200 kph so I think this would be out.

In the 20 ton Cat we have the Fire Moth which has some great builds and could look awesome but it is one of those mechs that would be to fast for the game engine with a base speed of 162 KPH and a MASC with a top speed of 216 kph. The other 20 tonner is the Howler which is either LRM support or sniper support.

*edit add Due to severe weather I had to post this before adding a quick sum up of the Clan lights.

Best choices for Clan 35 ton lighst are: Spirit or Wolfhound IIC if new versions are added to them.

Best choices for Clan 30 ton lights are: Hellion or UrbanMech IIC

Best Choices for Clan 25 ton lights are: Locust IIC or Bear Cub

Best Choice for Clan 20 ton lights are: PGI inventing a new one

Wolfhound IIc is Phellan Kell's Grinner, IE, the current Wolfhound hero.

Also I'm pretty sure the speed limit issue has been dealt with to a large extent but if the Fire Moth's masc is modified to not increase it's speed then it'd be fine.

Just want to say we can add the Incubus as it does have a redesign completely is different from the OG design of said mech.

The MWO-Grinner is supposed to be the original IS Grinner of Phelan Kell when he was with the Kell Hounds. Thus is has the Kell Hounds paint scheme and insignia.
Technically it is anti-canon, because Phelan's Wolfhound was likely a run-of-the-mill IntroTech Wolfhound. PGI however chose to replicate the IIC with IS Tech as far as possible. So the confusion is understandable.

The Wolfhound IIC is a ClanTech Mech but only one was ever build, Grinner (IIC). Perhaps FASA wanted to make it a series initially, or they simply had no other way of designating the unit.
But it remained unique and should not be used for a Clan Mech in MWO - unless, perhaps, a Hero Mech. After all, we don't need the three Mechs to level anymore. The quirks would have to be massively reduced though, or nobody would ever use the IS Wolfhound anymore...

If one is interested in having fun in MWO, it is useful to ignore nostalgia and other biases as much as possible. No nostalgia in the world helps if the geometry, hardpoints and engine rating are bad. And if a Mech is too bad in MWO, you won't have fun with it.

The IS MW:4-originals are rarely as bad as people claim they are, but they have proven to be hangar queens. What point is there in lobbying for a Mech that just stands in the hangar?

I'm aware it is a rebuilt Grinner, however there is one version that has is listed as an unknown variant in a book that follows the Black Widow company. Furthermore with Clan Wolf in Exile lacking many construction facilities would like make use of the base IS design and build new units with clan level tech as long as they have the materials.

As for the speed limit I definitely think it hasn't been dealt with due to seeing many lighter mechs shrug off damage due to faulty hit detection.

*snip*

Yet that Design still doesn't look nearly as good as the Original. Granted I could see Alex doing more of a fusion of the two but even that would trigger HG. Look at the Phoenix Hawk that triggered HG.

It seems you have not read this book. It's More Tales of the Black Widow and clearly states this is Phelan's Mech and unique in that. Unless Phelan had two unique Mechs, an editing mistake is more likely.

See here (More Tales of the Black Widow)

Compare that to the legal Tukayyid SB:

Later editions also ruled out the Tales version:

I know it is frustrating but editing mistakes were common in the era of early/mid FASA. You really should not try to base an argument on that.

I know.
Sarna is not wrong in what it says, the Tales book does list another version of Grinner, but it is still supposed to be Grinner - the unique Mech piloted by Phelan. You just jumped to conclusions...

As I said we are not faced with two variants in the regular sense, we are faced with two different descriptions of one and the same Mech, unless Phelan had two unique Wolfhounds which is highly unlikely.
It is technically possible that his Grinner was modified over time, so that the sources describe the Mech at different times in different configurations resulting from the modification (just like the Bounty Hunter's Marauder). But that is unlikely too because the main difference is the internal structure. Changing from standard to endo-steel takes a lot of effort including factory grade equipment (contrary to what it is in MWO). He would have had to rebuild his Mech basically, and I doubt that.

Again, the most likely explanation for the two different Grinners is an editing mistake. There is the theoretical option that Grinner underwent massive changes over time, but it is still one, unique Mech. The Wolfhound IIC is not a series of Mechs, it's just Phelans personal Mech.

I wouldn’t like to see Word of Blake specific mechs such as the Arc Angel, Seraph, deev, and Malak. I think these mecha are some of the most unique and awesome mechs in the game. Plus it would be really cool to see retractable blades being input into the game somehow hahaha!
