SuperfunkTron, awesome name by the way, because people are just taking sides and adopting an all or nothing, us or them mentality. It's become so prominent these days. Even if like you said the changes were minor.

These changes will only help to bring tonnage between factions closer when IS get their new shinies, but people only see their side.

Is that a good thing?

Same people who cry about being ignored. I try to tell people posting super-biased post is a big red flag

Thanks for the insight guys. I've had a lot less time to read the forums thoroughly lately, but the hysteria really repulsive. I know PGI isn't communicating the exact reason and basis for every single facet of balance and game adjustments, but the improvements since they dropped their old publisher a few years back was followed by drastic improvements and despite a long lull following last year's round table, PGI has further improve balance, built a solid foundation for FP (yes, I know we are still waiting for the rest of the follow through, but considering that they are a small team and having reasonable expectations I can wait while they finish the upgrade system [skill tree])

Other than having to be patient and wait, I can't see what PGI is really messing up.
-Skill Tree is the long promised follow-up to a stand in skill tree, and PGI has taken extra time to make sure that no progress is lost in the conversion and have provided their reasoning for building it the way that they did.
- Large scale "nerfs" have really been a continuous improvement to balance within the confines of the system they are using. It's provided some level of incentive for people to play IS while keeping the tech separated. Though its not ideal, it is working for a PVP game in which FP games are consistently decided by team work rather than tech.

Other than being impatient about the delays, which are clearly due to them trying to improve new systems, the only really complaint I can make is that it would be nice to know what topics they plan to deal with down the road. We know that Skill tree is a top priority, Incursion is coming up, and IK is hopefully still coming shortly after.

Here are some topics I respectfully request for PGI to provide a response to:
-Faction Specific Mech system (incentive to use mechs from a specific faction, either multiple tiers of rewards based on frequency or a single reward for mechs that count as being specific to that faction. Could be chassis or variant based)
-Faction related quirks- A set number of locked nodes or added quirks specific to each Clan or House to give it some character in comparison to other houses. The quirks would be Lore related and aimed at encouraging a certain type of play style (negative quirks could be an associated balance tool).
-Melee, collision, and knockdowns. Is this a possibility/consideration or is it beyond what the game can currently handle?
-Maps- There is a growing desire for more maps to be added. Can we expect any in the near future? Is it possible to return some of the old maps to the current pool to help increase game diversity in the mean time? (The original Terra Therma, Forest Colony, Frozen City, and others would be great additions to our choices!)

James, I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. The fact you're asking them to do that makes you ridiculous. Just another belligerent agitator who has no interest in facts or reasoning. Basically a troll.

Aff, complete dismissal of valid complaints by original MechWarrior gamers and paying customers, accompanied by name calling, is always an argument winner.

So...I patched and played but it is unplayable with the nerfs. See I didn't use 45700 words. Thank god for Elite D.

I agree... This is a useful alert... Now I'm going to miss it... Was it badly bugged or something? :(

Care to explain why it's unplayable? You explain absolutely nothing and expect to be taken seriously.

p.s. I didn't know that reading on a forum was so offensive to people.

Because getting components crit and blown off through full armor by a couple machine gun bursts, or one AC/2 shot from the other side of the map is not how the crit chance change was supposed to work.

Found the problem, and the lacking discussion about it...

-> https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/247577-weapon-jammed-x-9000/

...and I think PGI is screwing up again by taking it back out. They should only set it up to play once at the start of any Weapon Jam state on a player's Mech, and only allow it to play again if the state completely clears from all jam-possible weapons. That would be the smart way to fix it. But I guess since I'm looking at PGI, there isn't a chance in hell that the smart thing would be done. Oh well, there goes a useful alert! -_-

If that's what's happening, we had better hope that PGI fixes the issue quick. I don't think I've seen this happen to me yet, however. Armor being present on a Component still should prevent Critical Hits.

Then that makes you part of the problem because you SHOULD care.

Explain why I should care. Explain to me how adhering to the lore will make a Catapult more (or less) effective. Explain to me why, by following the lore, someone should expect to play certain mechs other than for raw nostalgia value?

Explain to me, why I, someone who has no vested interest in the lore of this game care one whit about the lore, when all I really want to do is run around in giant stompy robots and I have a vested interest in seeing that running around in those giant stompy robots is fun?

And it's also people like you who ultimately kill it by holding its roots and original fanbase in such contempt.

Now this is where I really don't like fans of any given genre or franchise. You accuse me of holding the roots and fanbase in contempt when I really don't care. I don't care if the lore is thrown into a car fire and left to smolder...I also don't care if the lore is plated and gold and mounted on the tallest peak of such vastness and scale that the entire world has no choice but to look upon it with joy and admiration. It really doesn't matter one way or the other as long as I get to run around in giant stompy robots shooting up other giant stompy robots.

Perhaps a more apropos statement would be "i feel nothing about the original fanbase or the roots", because the fact of the matter is that for me to hold those things in contempt would mean that I had to actually have any sort of feelings about them one way or the other first (note: I do not).

You and folks like you seem to think that there is only one way to do things, that the novels and books are some sort of bible to be followed...despite the fact that those very same resources have contradicted themselves, had rewrites and retcons, and to go against these hallowed texts is tantamount to heresy. Nevermind the fact that the owners of the franchise and licensing have done far, FAR more damage to your precious lore than a 'filthy casual' like myself.

...and nevermind the fact that it's us filthy casuals that 1: we pay the bills because there are more of us than you, and we are just as likely to drop money on a thing that we find interesting. 2: we are far more likely to invest in a franchise because through gameplay and experience, we are going to learn a thing or three, get curious and slowly become fans. Without new blood to pick up and carry the torch, the roots will shrivel up on the vine and be forgotten.

I have said it before, and I will say it again:
Lore is an integral part of any franchise, and it is important to be true to that lore as reasonably as possible. This is what keeps those people who are interested in a franchise interested. However, when moving a franchise from one medium (such as a turn based strategy/tactics miniatures game) to another (such as a real-time shooter), alterations and changes *must* be made, both to ensure and maintain playabiity, but also so things actually make sense. With this in mind, when it comes down to having to choose between being true to the lore and playability/balance, then lore needs to take a back seat.
Lore will bring the base and those casuals interested, but it's the playability and balance that will attract new blood and keep them here.

That sounds more like a bug. It hasn't happened to me and this is the first I am hearing of it. You should probably make sure there is a note of that in the patch feedback thread.

Beyond this bug, is there any other reason why the change is bad, specifically for those of us who have not had any weapons destroyed until structure was exposed?

To be specific, I have only been piloting my Summoner since the patch and my ping was less than 100 ms in each game I played, so I doubt it was "phantom damage" from another source. Yes, I was sober at the times that I noticed this phenomena. I will try out my other Mechs and see if I have the same problem.

I've noticed this happening too, particularly towards my Atlas.
