This thread...

...makes me want to run LRMs tonight.

I don't do it often, and I've never been griefed when I do, but maybe I'll get lucky tonight. I've never TKed any one with Lrms, but I'm willing to give it the ole college try if warranted.

Welp, I tried. Played 5 group queue, and 1 invasion (dom) last night and had LRMS on all but one mech in the invasion drop.

No TK-ing, No griefing. No snide comments. Nuthin.

I have never been more disappointed. I feel...down right persecuted! Left out of this community! Disenfranchised even!!

I mean if you people can't even have the decency to come out of the shadows and apply your anti-LRM hate openly, well I think that makes you a bunch of LRM persecuting cowards. Now go back to hiding behind your white sheets of PPC fire. Yu and yours will always be afraid of the fury of my LRM brothers and sisters.

LRM POWER!!!!

I'm sorry but if your using a weapon that:

A. allows you to get damage and have no risk of you taking any while using it.

B. requires an ungodly amount of team work.

C. Allows you to damage players from out of sight.

You deserve all the hate you get, however teamkilling and "trolling" towards these sad, sad individuals is unacceptable.

I use a lot my Mad Dog Prime right now. 6xLRM5 + 5xERML (really great build). Let me answers to your grief :

A : I get a lot of risk and share armor cause i try to be always at range to shoot my ERML and kill ennemies faster.

B : I don't need an ungodly amount of team work. I use my own lock on view ANYTIME i can. Cause i made more damages. And i try to help teammates anytime they need some damages to finish foes.

C : I only do this if i'm hundred percent sure that i am going to touch my ennemy. So i don't do this often, cause i am a good LRM mechwarrior.

So no, i don't think i deserve some hate when i play my mad dog prime. But really often i have team mates that are bitching around me when they saw that i carry LRMs on my dog. It's really annoying, because most of the time i have better score thant those guys. And you know what ? A lot of good players who sports LRM are playing that way : they play LRMs well and wisely.

If you want to hate about someone, just hate about bad players ! Especially bad players with LRMs, because those weapons, like many others, are not newbie friendly at all.

Oh so you use Clan Lurms, those are the easy mode of the easy mode, nice not having an arm distance.

Also quite how your getting rather worked up while in a direct support mech, guess what the IS has none of those and they are the ones that cause the stigma. Not nice dying only to see several team mates that are unscathed and either carrying only lurms or lurms and a pitiful amount of holdout weapons.

Clan LRMS at point blank deal very minimal amounts of damage. Yes, they deal more than none, which is what IS LRMS at that range deal, but they're no substitute for having actual backup weapons, and they're certainly not easy mode.

Anyone saying they are can fight me. I'll be on in two hours.

Greetings filthy Lurm chuckers !
I would also like to Nail my flag to this post. It is quite unfair that we feel the need to persecute players who have been Mechewarrior pilots for years and who yet still feel the need to throw lurms at people. Its unfair and its just not right. These players are obviously unable to aim or use tactics or common sense or decorum or crayons and i for one find this RACIST !!

Must we call these people out every time we see them?? Cant we just go on encouraging them to continue throwing Lurms into the sky until they finally hit something? We must respect the fact that some people don't play this game to win, But to see the prety colors and hear the "Swoosh" of the Lurm tubes.

It is outrageous that some Lurm chuckers are now being referred to as Lurm fascist's. It does not matter that The German guy with the mustache (Wont let me use his name) invented the Lurm with the V2. IT HAS NO BEARING IN THIS GAME! Such language is unhelpful and only brings laughter and ridicule.
I feel it is now time for all of us to show some support to our special Lurm brothers and sisters. We need to let them know that they are indeed special. I believe its time....

LURM APPRECIATION MONTH. We should all only use Lurms! Lets finally put this to bed once and for all. I propose that April, the month of the fool, henceforth be known as Lurm appreciation month. We should all get behind this and change our loadouts accordingly. Lets show our special Lurmie friends that we are with them. We shall blot out the sun with LURMS !!!!

ahhh, the interwebs.

Decided to dust off the old lurm machines last night and drop a few rounds. Had a great time. I get the anger though, we've all seen those bad players. I had an lrm king crab on my team a few weeks back....two lrm 20s, a tag and a medium laser. I was dumbfounded.

I kind of like being prepared for anything, so my builds are all more mixed than boated. My biggest boat is an awesome 8R...four lrm 10s, a high mounted tag and two large lasers. 1260 rounds to fire, play mid range where you draw fire and get the missiles to the enemy faster, makes for a great time. Ideally the lurm, as mentioned, needs to be part of a mixed use build. It's the same symptom as any other min/max build. The more homogenous your loadout, the easier it is to pilot, and the less adaptive to changing situations it is. There is nothing more irritating than dropping into, say, Polar Highlands with a mainly short range build. Forces you to think, though.

Whenever you hear someone in chat bitching about LRM's you've just identified a "Bad". Make fun of them, bring it up how only a potato dies and ******* about LRMs. Or if you are that LRM boat, do what you normally do, get to the 450M range and kill him, or if you can taunt him to charge you, lase him with TAG and then using your Artemis enhanced LRM's (you do have Artemis) core out his CT in 200M and then taunt him again for being an idiot charging a LRM boat in the open.

It has gotten to the point where my ethnicity is being insulted every other day.
Because I drive a missile boat in this game?
Which I have ran since closed beta.
Personally I find it funny as hell, but when a 10 year child of a friend has to hear such vitriol.
He plays with his dad.
And I made the dumb mistake announcing we had a Jr. Mechwarrior with us.
Never again.
There lot of truly great people here however.........
I'm truly saddened and ashamed of this community.
Oh a side note maybe my kill ratio would rise if I stopped lurming from the frontline.
Hmmm discuss?

I am truly saddened to hear that man. I have fun with people because of lurms all the time. At worst they annoy me but that's as far as it goes. I too find it quite funny. I know that the average age of the player base for MWO is.. how shall i put this..mature :) So for me i rarely hear the kind of abuse i hear in other online shooters. I hope your experience with your friends son does not taint you to what is for the most part a very well mannered community

I was just having a bit of fun with my post further up the page. My true feelings about lurms are this, There a crutch for new players and players who may have a disability or are very mature and may have issues with twitch shooting. They are just as viable a weapon as any other. Perhaps after reading your post i might keep my fake outrage to myself. It genuinely came from jest and nothing more.

Oh bro, drop with me sometime. My missiles are magic.

Compared to ballistics and lasers, missiles demand more effort and thought in positioning and communication to be effective.

Is this a test of what i just said?....Must....Not...Insult....your...build... Ah **** it

Greetings lurm monkey! I agree with everything you have said, Lurms are indeed like magic. Its magic how you can be on the battlefield with everyone else and not have to aim at anything yet still do damage...Magic! And your spot on, lurms do indeed take monumental amounts of effort to be effective :)

( I used to use lurm boats many moons ago, i know how good they can be if you use them as part of an organized team. I have a Stalker lurm boat that would put many others to shame. I just don't get any satisfaction from using it. )

Naw man its all good, my hide just got chapped, because of my friends kid.
And I was embarassed.
And I really should have kept my trap shut.
Lesson learned.
Funny thing is I think his kid ended up with the most damage and kills.
On our team rolf.

o-o-o! The LRM60 Stalker? I loved the hell out of that thing until I let the Catapult enter my life and discovered the role of LRM support, versus LRM boating :D

She's a beast ! Im reluctant to give out the exact build as in all my years i have never seen it fully copied. However, here is a clip of me in the Ukraine testing the build...

I once introduced my wee nephew to this game. He made it into tier three by the end of day one. He ended up quitting, something about it being too slow paced haha.

Best bet for the kid is to disable VOIP. I don't think this will be shocking but MWO is incredibly tame and nice when compared to almost any other online shooter. Darwin is real and he isn't nice. I have an 11 year old and have computers set up for him and nephews to play on. Long ago I educated him to how online folks can behave (This includes my occasional rants as well). So I wouldn't really be embarrassed this community is a tame puppy compared to most others.

Second, while I am no fan of LRM boats and most often disagree with you, I can agree that you do tend to be aggressive with your LRM boat. Which while isn't my preference is appreciated that you don't sit back 900 meters. You guys also move with a team too which is a major bonus.

Last ... I may be a **** at times to LRM boaters, I do sometimes run a narc raven and I always use my UAV and I call my target locks in comms. Just because I hate a weapon system doesn't mean I don't understand how to make the best use of it when available.
