It's all fun 'till you meet a full meta cheese group. On either side. Way to kill fun.

Fixed that for you.

Longer laser beam times, no auto cannon pinpoint, more heat... take out a clanners side torse and watch him die...

As opposed to taking out an IS side torso... and watching them live???

Alright, I only play IS and make my own builds, as do the rest of the people I play with, so I'll take your word for it.

Either way, it's killing the fun and so by extension, the game.

Depends on the team actually.

The people who bring that and then whine about meta-gaming clanners?

Not so much.

Those who bring it... but do not whine?
Those who bring it, but remain polite to the other players?

That can be fun

Meta gaming usually does.

On the other hand, if what you really want is to WIN!!!!!!

Then setting yourself up to do so (in any way) is meta gaming.
Such is life.

Edit: I run most of my builds based off of the stock builds.
My NVA-Prime runs 12 ERSL for example.

Much more fun to work with a handicap. Posted Image

Clan was "defeated" today? Minutes before the time was up, the game indicated Clan had 93%, as it also shows right now, not long after the new day started.

How did Clan lose for a few minutes, then win its advantage back?

EDIT: Now I go back shortly after making this post, and it says Clan won?

I think what we needed was a "no group event", to remove the "pugs vs unit" for a few days, instead of increasing it tenfold.

On the bright side for IS : After this event, the new IS weapons will be tweaked to one shot one clan lance at a time (mech mounted IS orbital cannons :P ).

What I think we need is for all the IS players to boycott the event. I don't care If you're going to give me a little bonus at the end of all that grinding. It's going to take me twice as any matches to get to the same point in the event and I'll probably get less than half the rewards for said matches. Until balance is achieved, I'm not playing faction warfare any more.

Also, boreal vault and grim portico(?) are two truely terrible maps, maybe some of the worst maps i've ever played in any game.

grim is suprisingly not as terribad as other siege maps. boreal needs to go though. or at least opened up like hellebore or something.

I'll be honest man, I'm not the best player, and I run what I find fun, not necessarily the meta (which I tend to get bored with fast) I finished the challenge today, with minimal effort. Every single Invasion game I did, even the one where we got rolled by Antares Scorpions counted and I got my 20 Invasion games in 20 games. Scouting did take abit more work in as much as it requires you to WIN to count for the challenge, but it's hardly an impossible task.

Find a dropdeck you like that isn't LRM's (against clanners in uncoordinated drops they're worthless) and go to town. For me, my prime dropdeck is 2 Quickdraw IV4's, a Marader-3R (S) and a Rifleman Legendkiller. I generally earn 1-1.5M cbills a match, and do well enough with what is definitely not meta.

The simple point is to find something that lets you have fun. When it's pug v pug it's a 50/50 tossup, coming down to how well people work together. When fighting a premade, don't just give up and play for match score like so many do.

If I'm right, the tug-of-war is not reset to the middle every 24h : Maybe they should reset it to the side that lost each 24h ?

fought a Jade falcon 10-12man earlier (didn't know if they were all together, but 10 had the same tag and I think the other two were JF too) and they straight up had to let the team of pugs open the gates. or else they'd have been forced to wait it out for 30min.

Every time anyone peeked, they got blasted with ER large and ppcs, finally they got tired of waiting, and allowed the attacking team to open the gates. Yes, they still won, but it just goes to show how terrible the totally open sight lanes on that map are.

did you try opening alpha from the super sneaky hidey hole spot, that you have to have played forever to know about?

More accurately; Mercs gonna sweep everyone, yo.

He who hath the most 12 mans grinding away, wins, and assures such if they're winning fairly frequently (you can have a higher w/l and KDA for smaller groups, but it takes some real constant drops/time dedication to match up with folks who can just outdrop you via pure numbers.) When they released the Tukk 1 numbers, it was pretty clear that winning 98% of your matches didn't matter if a bloated unit could just out-spam ya (I should know, I was in a spam unit). That's a -real- burnout, right there.

Not really complaining about that too vigorously, though, nature of the beast just like very other Tukk, and this is just a rinse/wash/repeat of similar. Just kind of sad they never seem to learn their lesson on that.

The only real salty complaints I have that directly tie into the event (beyond the weird *** balance rationals around STD engines, overly high heat dissipation etc. screwing so much up instead of a comprehensive approach to balancing the 4 engine types and moving on from there) are:

1) No seperate rankings of the Mercs from the Loyalists, (screws over loyalists, as usual, though at least contract hopping isn't quite as obnoxious as it was prior), which would only make sense, but for some reason is a no go. A simple thing that apparently is, er... I don't even know why the hell it's not a thing to be honest.

and

2) Still no matchmaker in FP, making the usual boring-*** pugstomps that much more frequent, and scaring yet more away from ever giving the mode the time of day post event. It really, REALLY needs a matchmaker, hell, a temporary solo queue wouldn't even have been too bad for the event because god, damn.

I mean, I get it, some folks equate fun with "bitching about bringing horrible franken builds in a vaguely competitive environment and not thriving when the effective builds and coordinated teams stomp their sorry asses match after match", and will continue to ***** that their garbage builds aren't really working out over and over, (which apparently is the game's fault, and their opponents fault) for the duration of their time in this game. They won't adjust how they play, they won't adapt their builds, and hell, some of them won't even work with their team mates. They'll never change. Good on them, even the pugs need punching bags to practice on.

I figure plenty of folks giving it a whirl because of the juicy rewards would really have appreciated that solo queue where they get to duke it out for personal glory, even with tag-droppers and the occasional scummy event synch-drop, hell even if it was a leaderboard expanded to the top 50 lone wolves or more. It's always "the side with the most Pugs at event end loses", but I hope to hell the randoms/solos/units of 1-2 etc. are at least getting frequent matches against similar folks (not that you'd see as many complaints about that, loudest squeaky wheels, observational bias and all that, but still... ouch) every other match or more.

Still, it's a good time to recruit as a unit at least for folks -wanting- a group experience, so it is beneficial for something.

So, since PGI is giving us all this free stuff,w e should jsut take in the horrible experience that is this battle and say thank you.
Well, first of all, PGI is not giving away anything. They have a salary that comes from people paying to play this game.
So the 'treats' we are getting are actually paid for, they are not free.
Second, if you like paid horrible experience that much, I would like to see anyone eat a **** sandwich for $100.
It's not gonna happen.
I would trade all the PGI 'freebies' in a nanosecond, and pay a cash premium every month for a FAIR, DECENT, FIGHTING SIMULATION EXPERIENCE, which this is not. And for physical attacks, to kick the living crap out of Jenners, Cheetahs and locustes.

Thx PGI for the PAID freebies, my event on the IS side is almost done.

Is it unfair because of some kind of mechanical flaw?

Or is it unfair because of the caliber of players who happen to be facing each other?
