No time for that sh*t... PGI need to realize this..

Plenty of time. It is, after all, just a game, an form of entertainment. And everyone else is trying to figure it all out as well...

Not like you're gonna get fired or lose your home because of it.

Like I want to spend my time staring at hexagons.. i didn't pay into premium time for that. lol

I wouldn't be against switching the premium time to "match time only" at all on my end. Even when the game crashes, wants a crash report, acknowledges it went FRRRPLE on its own, doesn't let me load back within 2 minutes, denies me of any match earnings AND puts me on a timeout for my trouble as a one-two nut punch.

That said, I can think of one game that has a choice between time, OR per-match, with the former being a better choice if you can grab a nice few matches worth of games a day, and the latter if you're more casual and infrequent. I doubt having that option would be a bad thing for this (even if they manage to streamline speccing to be snappier and faster), digressions aside.

Wow, our unit just switched back to IS and we're realizing the I.S. nerf is serious. Clans have it much, much better. The game has never been as unbalanced as it is now!

I'm assuming since he's taken the unnecessary step of insulting people who don't like the skill tree, dexiled Warrior's mouth serves as quite the shaft holster for PGI devs. Your slavish adherence to the skill tree doesn't make you cooler, better, or smarter than anyone. We get to say we don't like it, that's our right. I'm not asking PGI to change it back but after 4 years and a LOT of cash I do get to say "Bummer, I likd this game, I wish you hadn't turned it into something I don't wanna play anymore." I don't want customization. I want what I had pre-patch. I want all of my 236 mechs to perform exactly as they did then because I was playing daily and having fun. That will not happen, so I chose to quit the game and leave some 9,000 hours of premium time unused. That is frustrating and I don't need your insults for it. So how about YOU grow up, enjoy the game YOU like and I see as an abomination before God almighty himself, and we keep it civil.

The only way to run IS is, structure quirks.

Any mech with them you need to buff it with Skeletal. I mean on a lot of mechs you've still lost range (30-50m or so), but it's the only way. Anything that doesn't have structure, just avoid it.

God help if structure quirks get removed.

I agree with most of this thread, the skill tree system is a mess and I will not be participating or giving PGI anymore money until they fix it.

It's unfortunate but it seems quite a few IS mechs have become obsolete. Even after foregoing Mech Operations, Sensor Systems, Jump Jet and Miscellaneous nodes, many IS mechs still don't stand a chance in invasion now that Clan mechs all have awesome quirks.

Oh my lord in heaven what are you thinking PGI......this is mechwarrior......not table top battletech. I want to be in the cockpit not messing round with stats in the mechlab.

Caveat: I'm a newer player, only been playing for about a couple of months, and I did not pay enough attention to upcoming changes.

Have to admit, the fallout from reworking the skill should've been seen. And if it was, I guess the company's willing to take the gamble. I can only sympathize with those people who are on premium time wasting it in mechlab. I only have a few mechs yest I haven't even finished speccing even one.

The one biggest complaint I have is that the mechs feel even more "generic".... I know there are still some differences between variants like hardpoints, and pods. But for the inner sphere stuff like most of what I use, it's the quirks (which I liked to "role-play-think" of as some part of battletech world) that make each variant feel slightly different. Not sure if it's just me, but it seems that there's no point to getting variants now, just pick the one you want and find the most commonly acceptable tree.

Oh ... just to be clear which side I'm on, the skill tree paths do indeed suck the big one. Feels like the devs/designers want to make you either waste slots, or time trying to figure out which useless nodes suck the least. I guess it's a win if your intent was to make people use up (waste) money.

I'm only sorry I bought MC for some keys, mechbays and a few treats just before this patch.

That is sooooo amusing.

What happened to "Man up, Mech up"?

well, probably something called a real job and a real life.... if you have the time, you would probably enjoy Path of Exile. so instead of shooting people in the face with a pair of AC20's i (and others like me) are here voicing our desires for change. change back to something quick and fun. i have no desire to spend my time having to crunch numbers just to make my mech not suck balls.

in case you havnt seen this yet

Balance was as close as it had ever been in this game. Then this travesty. Balance is out the window now. And to make matters worse IS mechs suck so bad now that it simply is not fun to play them anymore( Just like lights after rescale). Gonna go clan and forget I ever owned battlemasters and whammys. RIP IS CW.

One bad thing about all who are saying they are taking a break for a while... you have to come back to the "Skill Tree"...because the big wheels wanted this....pushed it...was gonna put it out no matter what...and they did... they are not gonna get rid of it anytime soon. They figure everyone will get over the shock... and play again.... but....unless you use your premium time to log on to mess with Tree before you decide to come back...it will all be waiting for you when you do. Sorry to say.. There are many that LOVE the new Tree...... and yes new players that never had to go thru what a lot of long time players had to go thru, will pick up on the Tree.... never knowing how it was.... and will play and think things are great.... all I know, as for me... and from the sound of this forum... I have had it.... on top of that... they put out a hell of a lot of mech pre-order offers before the release of the Tree... I wanted many of them..but didn't have the money to get much at all... which makes me think that PGI was losing sight of reality... they think we all have tons of Money to throw at them.... and now they think we all have the patients to spend a lot of Premium time in mechlab to "tweek" our mechs..... and, god forbid, we wanna do a weapons change, a couple minute thing the old way.... 10Xs that now....shrugs.... all moot now.... its out...its done... and.. well, PGI, I'm done.... I know. No loss there. A customer lost, more out there to pick up. But it was a fun ride, til the brick wall we all just hit. THUD SPLAT!!! have fun all. Holds up my finger to PGI, "Your number one :P

What you do not understand is history.

PGI history of dropping dung all over the game/player base and then doing all sorts of backflips/changes - eventually (even if dmg is almost too late to repair).

Long Tom a perfect example of this and there are many before it. Not trying to be overly critical, as I've said, I don't mind Skill Tree and the idea behind it at all.

I have an idea about balancing the ST. A lot of people seem to be upset that they need to make choices like "17.% less screen shake or Speed retention" 2 skills, I personally, don't care for at all. (I pilot fast mechs, mostly, so getting legged pretty much means my mech was dead seconds ago anyway.)

Well here's my idea. Introduce a slider system and tiered skill points, with categories. E.G. Screen shake, Speed Retention, Target time reduction Tier 1 skills....
Radar deprivation, 360* Retention Tier 2
advanced Narc and whatever else tier 3

in order to use a Tier 3 skill a pilot needs to choose X tier 1 skills and X tier 2 skills. This probably would make a mucky mess out of everything and people will still find ways to complain...

My first thought about the skill tree was "Great, now everyone is just going to Meta the skill tree after a couple months" Then I thouht "They should have split this into more trees"

in my opionion some of the operations and sensors skills should have been split among "Defensive/Offensive versions of the tree. Example: Screen shake, speed retention and Radar dep. could be "Defensive" side of a skill tree while the target info gathering, 360* retention and others should be "offensive" ....

Also, breaking off into more trees would make people feel better about their investment... Really, I don't care about speed retention OR screen shake when I'm piloting my assault mechs or any other mechs for that matter.

This tree update ruined my King Crab 000B. It was hard enough to work with before the patch. NOW its lost vital things like torso twist speed, -20% cool down bullet velocity, and weapon cooldowns for JUNK like hill climb, leg retention, sensor range, and other things I'd NEVER give the time of day. I can't move my Center Torso fast enough now and this thing has one of the biggest. Come on PGI....!

Congratulations.. on par for the course.. you managed to ruin the game. Patches are supposed to be value-added to the user. Less time playing and more time in the UI is NOT value added.
Having dropped 5 times with my wolfhound, tweaking it after each drop, it still feels worse off than before this skill-tree monstrosity. Can you even begin to imagine what it feels like for someone you has 236 mechs to skill out, and to attempt to have them perform AT LEAST as well as before? It's too daunting.. and most likely not worth the effort. Seriously, what goes through your heads? You always seem to go overboard with every stinkin decision you make.

Experienced pilots are telling me they're taking a break from this game. These are pilots that had a hard-core love affair with this game.. and they are taking a break.

I think you're right. Your last statement is something PGI really need to take a hard look at. I used to love this game and would drop nearly every day. Ever since the patch last week, I haven't dropped once. I even had a few days of premium time left and I just watched it tick away. The Skill Maze has drained all the fun out of MWO, and I have a number of friends who think so too.

PGI removed a big chunk of the forward accomplishments I've made, and replaced them with this Skill Maze that is frustrating, pointless, unnecessary, and after wasting my time in the mech lab, can only get me back to maybe 70% of where I was, at best. Leaving me with a deep sense of loss for no good reason and resentment that makes me just quit the game and do something else.

I do like change. But it needs to be change that's for a good reason, and is going to make the playing experience better. I was looking forward to the skill tree back when it was announced last December. But the skill tree we got is yet another poor PGI implantation of a good idea, and is an evolutionary step backwards. Even tho PGI has made some really bad moves in the past that I was able to overlook, this one may have just knocked me out of the game. Posted Image

The level of contempt for the fans of an IP by a developer/producer is on the same level as Michael Bay right now

Who said you have to skill all of your 200 or 400 mechs, while you most likely only play a handful?

Good point.

Why buy more mechs?

Grats PGI on spending time and money implementing something that guarantees lower sales.
