Pre-skill tree, all my mastered mechs had seismic and/or radar dep. Now, the majority of my builds have them, but perhaps less.

I would have thought with them both being more easily accessible we would see them more now, but spectating others recently, it seems like very few people are running seismic at the moment?

Thoughts?

Almost all the time, but only one node of each.

I dig that almost no one uses them anymore, makes it possible to sneak up on people again.

Pre skilltree 100% of players in t1-2 had them, now it seems very few folk bother.

Religiously on the Seismic, not so much on the derp. I have nodes to spend elsewhere.

60% Radar Deprivation almost universally, Seismic almost never.

The only time I don't use Seismic and Radar Dep is when I'm starting to level a fresh mech with 0 Skill Points. Posted Image

So... hmm... I use them roughly 99.99% of the time. Posted Image

PS - 2/2 Seismic, 3/5 Radar Dep is almost always my build. Verrrry rarely 2/5 Radar Dep.

i usually consider at least a partial unlock of each mandatory.

Always full radar dep, never more than one seismic node (and not always that one, either).

I use full seismic for all solo que mechs, it's just too valuable and has probably saved me more times than those SP's would elsewhere. I don't bother with full radar derp, even 20% is enough to get the chirp that you've been targeted....

Full derp always. Siesmic almost always.

They are just so good, and I stack the other sensor boosts, too. Whenever I hit the skill tree it is sensors first, then AMS Overload (if applicable), then everything else.

The only sensor nodes I don't use are target retention and advanced zoom.

Well that's it. It does so much for a comparatively small outlay.

1% more firepower or durability vs. the number of times games have hinged on me knowing where an enemy was when I otherwise wouldn't or be alerted to someone behind me? Knowledge is power.

No comparison. I don't understand how so many people seem to not have it. (Granted nearly everyone responding here is T1-2)

I should take seismic but i always think of that sensor tree last.
Radar dep, never...missles have never been an issue with me.

I mostly play mechs with ECM, and when I do, I basically max out the sensor tree minus 4 or 5 skills such as target decay or whatever I can skip. I max Seismic and Radar Deprivation on those.

On mechs without ECM I skip the sensor tree entirely.

I don't usually get seismic or more than 2/5 radar dep unless I'm going down the sensor tree for the ECM traits anyway, then I might throw a couple spare points into it (mostly ECM lights)

I don't see the deeper radar dep points as a very good tradeoff against firepower/survival/mobility nodes; LRMs aren't that tough to take cover from on most maps that you need to drop lock immediately vs. after 1-2 seconds. 2/5 radar dep isn't that expensive so I might grab that if the build has a few spare points, but usually I'd rather invest those in a bit more survival.

Depends on the build. Mechs built for comp play, no dep (spend the pts elsewhere). Mechs meant for Solo Queue/Group Queue, usually 60-100% radar dep (depending on build). When the nerf to CERML burn times, reduced burn duration is pretty much required, which meant I had to drop down to 60% radar dep. IS laser vomit mechs can retain 100% radar dep, since 15% laser duration reduction on lasers that already burn fast is pretty negligible for the skill point investment

Non-ECM 'mechs are generally 2/2 Seismic and 3/5 Radar for 15 SP
ECM 'mechs are generally 2/2 Seismic and 2/2 Radar for 17 SP

I'm tempted to drop the Radar nodes down a bit, mostly for UAV range and UAV duration.
