Its an atlas, with a **** ton of extra HP, and more ballistics. (Ballistics are good in assaults)
Nothing even competes with it in its weight class.

you get an extra 30% Armor to share.. for 0 tons.

It doesn't even give up anything for it, as it can use the most powerful assault set ups with its ballistics.

There's a reason in the tournament where people 1v1'd a pro (i forget what it was called) the only assault he used was the annihilator.

You just cant justify that kind of free armor.

I guess it was only a matter of time before someone ONLY looked at the buffs and didn't think about all the downsides and then claimed it was OP.

Also, this may be earthshattering for you, but 1v1 is not what this game is about.

Atlas-D has equivalent or better durability quirks and can be had for c-bills. Hardly pay to win.

Watches Master's Challenge, assumes p2w because a newly released mech is popular in a 1v1 context.

300 engine cap would be the justification- same reason why it has 10% heat reduction quirks.

In any case, the King Crab and Atlas both have similar levels of armor quirks (some Atlas have structure instead).

Annihilator is the strongest 100t mech in most cases, but that hardly means anything considering 100t mechs are pretty garbage in general outside of highly specific situations. The other 100t mechs need some agility back- then the Annihilator won't feel so overwhelmingly good.

bear_cl4w uses an Annihilator because armor and firepower are vastly more valuable in a 1v1 between assaults than any other factor.

It is a mighty tough mech, no arguments here, above and beyond anything we have seen for sure, but PTW? No. Powercreep? Yes.

Sigh. Another on paper balance knee jerk. Look! The Awesome 8Q can get HPPC heat down to 10! Clearly the most OP mech in the game.

The Annihilator has a terrible movement and agility profile. Sub-par (but OK) hit boxes. Enormous side profile. Tallest mech in the game.

It was always going to need quirks. It excels only with niche builds, and has to make sacrifices to carry the ballistics it does.

Even with all that extra armour, the Madcat MKII is still better (IMHO - and I pilot both).

Clanners also hate quadrupeds. Did you know that? ;)

Atlas-D has exactly 2 points extra armor quirk for LT/RT.
However it totally lags behind in terms of weapon slots.

And?

Makes sense with the FP going on that someone crying about it would be the one going up against it, or has no inclination to actually try it out because they like clan mechs only. There is always one person uninformed. And people playing opposit sides are less likely to call out when one of their toys needs a nerf.

That being said, I think the Annihilator is perfectly balanced, and is where it needs to be. If anything, it shows that the Atlas needs a torso twist increase or something. I'm playing Clan. That kinda goes against your narrative isn't it? Not all of us like being painted in such black and white distinction.

I find it personally great that IS is competitive because I enjoy both, and the competition I go against. Clan is still super powerful for what they have.

Its all about the quirks. DOA was predicted before quirks were known IIRC.

pffft even with all their bonuses i still see them getting wrecked easy. Theyd be terrible without them and not worth buying.

God forbid people that have paid to support the game are allowed to have some fun with big slow mechs for once..

And if we are lucky they may even release for cbills with intact quirks so it wont be p2w, just p2w early. not that theres much extra "win" to be had you can totally wreck face with free mechs in fact 98% of the good mechs are free.

This is not a gold ammo situation so dont ***** about something so subtle.

Which doesn't indicate P2W...but does fall in line with PGI history

While it doesnt indicate PTW it does perhaps indicate something about the OP and his ability to maneuver around a really really slow mech.

As usual, the OP mech will get nerfed to the ends of the earth when they become available in C-Bills. Chill down and grab a cola. It is MWO daily.

And the ANH just plain lags behind due to 300 engine cap. Most Atlas builds can run a 350.
