Remember transverse? They came, they tried, didn't work out. The project went away, PGI remained. Any assets and concepts for that game would have likely been liquidated/sold away to people generating similar games that were/are looking for assets. If MW5 flops, they'll probably find a developer (with the help of Microsoft) who wants to take it over, transfer the license, content etc, which means PGI drops Mechwarrior altogether (whether that's their choice or Microsoft's), then move on and take on something else.
I think a video game company who goes under because one title didn't make the big break would spell out serious management issues.
