Suddenly 1v1s!
The fights with mismatched 'Mechs were lulbad, the ones with similar 'Mechs were good.
Pro-tip for that unfinished map: JJs negate cover pretty much entirely.
Discoveries: BJ-1X cannot turn for ****, but the Uziel can; Small Lasers win PPC fights when neither side has ERPPC and there is no clear speed advantage.

I ogree. Some of the IS ballistics except heavy gauss of course could use some work. Also clan heavies and assaults no reason why they should have structure and armour quirks they are so squishy especially the kodiak.

Yeah that's how the majority of ours were, but that's literally going to be Solaris. You're more likely to be mismatched than running similar stuff. But that's how you find out your rock, paper, scissors (lizard, spock) so to speak.
And when you're outclassed or outgunned, it's up to you to make up the difference mentally (mind games) to catch the other guy off guard with their pants down. : )
Also, during our studies we found out a reason (maybe not the SOLE reason, but a reason nonetheless) why the Urbanmech seems to take less damage than what you're probably dishing out. Well, in the Urbies run animation --- there is a noticable teleport (yes, teleport) --- and during that teleport it negates SOME damage being done (as in doesn't seem to register or it teleports and the game assumes you missed so HSR doesn't do anything about it). During our Urbie vs Urbie fight i noticed it as well and it's been reported.

I think it's going to come down to whether or not you know what map you'll be dropping on.
I dropped with 'Mechs knowing full-well exactly what would make me lose given that map's size and available cover. Twice I dropped in a PPC BJ-3 (not subsequently) and twice Taro closed the gap and made them useless. Once he dropped with PPCs in a VND, and once I closed the gap and made them useless simply because my own PPC 'Mech also had some small lasers on it. Once I took a laser poke, and he rendered it useless with SRMs.
The requirement that youmust kill your opponent, the map size, and the available cover all dictate exactly what is going to be a winning strategy. And unless they allow some wildly disparate weights, then tonnage restrictions will also factor in.

There's always some latency weirdness. A few times I shot Taro's Uziel with a very obvious full-burn to the CT on my screen, yet half the damage evaporated into the ST and arm. I suspect because that 'Mech twists so fast it ***** with HSR a bit. I remember some EmP members stating that the lack of latency weirdness in the MWOWC finals rendered the MPL WLF-2 and HBK-IIC more potent than in all of the internet-based matches and that was a major factor in their loss to EON in the first set.

Bonus discovery: apparently when rolling 11 or greater on a melee attack, one can end thy opponent rightly and with great distinction. In a game that doesn't have melee. Huzzah!

So lemme get this straight... You wanna buff the two strongest weapon groups on either side.
Do you have any idea what that will do?

I'm just not even sure what to do about that.
Threads like this just feel embarrassing to read. It's okay for people to not be uber super good at a game - it's okay for people to be bad at it. It's just a game.
However it just stings when someone says 'I'm terrible at this game and don't understand it. I make poor choices, make bad mechs and generally play poorly. We should change the games mechanics so I can make all the poor choices I'm making right now but suddenly win more often! Is there some way to make everyone who is good at the game either go away or just nerf them somehow, so they don't take the terrible balance decisions that would make me win while being bad and become god tier?'

I figured it out.
It's not lag or anything, it's just a messy landing animation. Happens every time you jump jet (or fall and hit the ground, jumpjets aside).
Been bothering me for ages but I wasn't quite able to figure out what was going on until tonight.

Snub-nose PPC == Pommel !?!?
(edit) actually I should say, it's more like a Pommel Factory....
