I almost hope it is a Buccaneer, as that would indicate we're getting hatchets.

Technically speaking, all Omnimechs are Battlemechs. So I wouldn't read too much into the the use of the term.

My understanding of the nomenclature is that Battlemechs and Omnimechs are not the same, as they follow different design and construction systems. Certainly Sarna uses the classifications in this way. For instance, there is the Blackjack (Battlemech) and the Blackjack (Omnimech). Even the Sarna page on Battlemechs classes Omnimechs as a different kind of machine categorically speaking.

OmniMechs are a sub-class of BattleMech, as opposed to an AgroMech.

Omnimechs are a sub-type of the Battlemech. It's like candy bars - Every nugget nougat bar is a candy bar, but not all candy bars are nugget nougat bars. All Omnimechs are Battlemechs, but not all battlemechs are Omnimechs.

I highly doubt it is going to be the Celestials due to those mechs being just outside of the time table PGI has set.

They could also be making an all new mech design as well.

Found on the Mechwarrior Online Twitter. Clearly leaked by Blakists within PGI's ranks..

It's a damned Inner Sphere Omni.

I think it's defiance battlemech -- it fits as a prototype.

I figured it out, I Think. It's the Templar.

"Due to the delay in delivery of some weapon systems (X-Pulse), the project test has been moved"

As the primary variant runs normal Pulse lasers instead of X-Pulse.

Celestials would require a whole pile of tech we don't have yet in game. We'd have to skip another decade forward, and there's a LOT more they can do "now" in terms of giant robots.

An IS Omni is much more likely.

Jokes aside. I am very interested in seeing IS Omni. Even if they're average. All they have to do is give them quirks and omnipods with more hard points.

OmniMechs dont get hardpoint inflation like normal BattleMechs,
giving Is-OminMechs hardpoint inflation would be unfair to already released Hardpoint starved Clan Omnis,

If someone who actually uses the censoring, biased **** show that Twitter is could let Russ and PGI know that they should at least be cross posting this stuff on their own forums, I'd appreciate it very much.

I shouldn't have to take part in non-PGI websites to get PGI info.

I think he meant giving them pods that came stock with many guns, rather than inflating low-hardpoint pods.

Oh, and we can XL check them without a care, which should be hilarious as far, far too many early IS Omnis have them to try and keep up...which is a death sentence in MWO.
