the buccaneer has a hatchet though, maybe theyre adding melee finally

it has to be free worlds defense industries. none of the other defense industries companies exist or make battlemechs.

and the only two mechs that around around 9 letters are the buccaneer and archangel and the archangel has too many weapons that dont exist.

so its gotta be the buccaneer lol

Hooray for yet another sh*t mech?

Hmm, has anyone thought to peruse Sarna and search for mechs that had an especially costly development?

Good thing that the development of buyable mechs is secured. Wouldnt know what else would keep my interest up in playing this game.

you may be onto something,
looking at company names i found,
Alliance Defenders Manufacturing(Alliance Defenders Limited) & Defiance Industries(DI)
now their is a mech both companies produce, the WASP, thoughts on this theory?

nothing else with this really matches with the rest of the document,
so i have my doubts with this theory, but hey its something, Posted Image

Looking over Alliance Defenders Manufacturing (Alliance Defenders Limited) and Defiance Industries (more specifically the Wasp) they both produce the 1A variant (being the base variant). Now the C-Bills in the document probably won't match, but the Wasp was produced during the Era of the first battlemechs (2398-2570) which fits having a "prototype" mech that could expand into more advanced designs later (since during that time, it was industrial mechs before the Mackie was produced). It could also fit having a delay on weapons systems being delivered since it was the beginning of the battlemech era, so maybe delivery on such systems weren't optimized since the Houses were "dipping their feet" so to speak into war machines of these proportions.

I dunno. Just a theory.

Now that's more like it!

Unfortunately the listed amount of C-Bills doesn't end with ....00 so we can guess the cost of a single 'mech (if PGI didn't completely made up the number).

i tried to divide 431,382,995 by 15-150, no clean results.
But if cost exceeded this number, means it can be 431,382,996
Which can be divided by

12 for a crapton of C-bills, 35kk
18 for a cost of 23,965,722 C-bills
22, for a cost of 19,608,318 C-bills
27 for a 15,977,148 C-bills
33 for a 13,072,212 C-bills
36 for an 11,982,861 C-bills
44 for a 9,804,159 C-bills
54 for a 7,988,574 C-bills
66 for a 6,536,106 C-bills
81 for a 5,325,716 C-bills
99 for a 4,357,404 C-bills
108 for a 3,994,287 C-bills
132 for a 3,268,053 C-bills

...and i'm bored to calculate further, but i dare you, there are plenty of mechs near 2 million cost.

So i put on my robe and wizard hat, and open Combat Operations tables...

...I should make some tea, this will be a slog

Aaaand no matches, though here are few honorable mentions, not counting existing MWO mechs.

Dragon Fire 3F very close, 15,946,000
Avatar OC close to 19kk,
Bandersnatch 01A extremely close, 15,986,000
Viking 2F 9,828,700
Argus 4D 11,978,400
Axman 2N 11,989,011 oh please, please be you.
Crusader 7L 6,564,360
Gallowglas 2GLS 6,596,454
Hatamoto-Ku... not very close
Penetrator 6S 7,952,000
Scorpion 10 5,356,800
Strider OB 4,348,750 - very close, but omni
Clint 2-3U 3,951,080
Hermes II 2M 3,263,214 - extremely close
____________

Next step is to try to divide 531,382,996 (initial cost + expected extra). I'm not doing this....

Well, at least i had a tea.

If it's just a made-up number then I'm disappointed with PGI.

Unless it's just to show an exorbitant (development) cost of a single 'Mech. If it's a Superheavy then this is not related to a 'Mechpack.

EDIT: maybe PGI could use the Superheavy in a new game mode to test their AI further.

It will be totally unfair if number is just made up. Or for some PGI homebrew mech.
But, we do not know the end numbers of expected extra cost, only that is 10*,***,***
But it is only one piece of the puzzle.

So who the hell are "nse industries" and what they did deliver?
What if, it is Sterope Defense Industries, who delivered Light AC/5 Prototype (Pontiac Ultralight) to the Defiance Industries (ADM-DI) who build Clint, which is close to calculated cost, ....
aaaand Defiance's Clint 2-3U never used Light AC/5, it was for Taurian Concordat.

Maybe Light AC/5 Prototype was for Onslaught, but it have nothing to do with Defiance Industries, if DI means it at all.

Well, maybe it's 30-ton Hammer from Free Worlds Defense Industries, for 2,489,240 C-bill, and i did not check below 3 millions. Not hyped.

But question is, why do this mysterious document. Would be great if it was because of something really new. Scorpion - quad, Defiance Industries, meets the cost. Axman - melee, Defiance Industries, meets the cost.
Could also be Argus, it meets the cost with its base model, 4D, but have nothing to do with Nse or Nce industries. Could be Clint, meets the cost, Defiance Industries, though not the base model.

But what did they expand? And what intention will not be overlooked?

IMO, Scorpion makes more sense, considering all the stuff. But i do not believe PGI is willing to overcome all the difficulties of quads.

P.S. Or this document exists just "because we can", and is not a sign of any particular mech. Maybe it is just preamble of new Roughneck hero lore.

I have a prediction - The documents horseshit, and its not going to match the Lore in any meaningful way. It probably is just 'Defense Industries,'

It is DEFENSE Industries, look at the header - no way there is any word before Defense.

What if the header was oriented left? FREE WORLDS DEFENSE INDUSTRIES would fit nicely.

Of course there is some word or words before Defense. "Defe" does not take up a third of a page while "nse Industries" takes up less space.

Also, if we are going with the theory that PGI is spelling impaired and meant Defiance Industries... then it better be the Beserker. Who doesn't want a 100 ton, 400XL, ECM, Masc, assault mech with an axe?

this means the header is not centered? This also means the secondary headline is also more but just MILITARY CONTRACTOR.
This also means that it is a coincidence that the spacing between the last letter of INDUSTRIES and CONTRACTOR would be the same as for the spacing for a the first letters of a hypothetical DEFENSE and MILITARY?

Do you guys honestly think we're getting anything that demands new tech, let alone melee? We can't even have inverse kinetics, don't tell me you guys are getting your hopes up for melee? Posted Image

I mean, sure, stuff that's essentially just a numbers tweak I could see happening - such as the Light AC5. Lower weight, reduce range, done.

But more complex stuff, like MMLs? Nope, not seeing that happening.

The Bandersnatch looks cool, but the hitboxes are going to be terrible.
