I personally want only one of them, doesn't care which. Thug and Hatamoto's base loadouts are too similar. Charger is gonna do well in MWO, depending on quirks. And hitboxes.

I think there's room for both the Thug and the Charger to coexist. I'll give you that the Thug and Hatomato Chi step on each others RichardCameron like nobodies business.
Which is why I push thug every time.

The missile hardpoints are only moderately high, and it appears that the arms will be a bit on the low side. You'll have to expose a lot of the mech to fire over a hill. It's a bit slow for that.
Hitboxes are also likely to be large, and the arms are going to be easy to shoot off.
For the Hatamoto-Chi to work, it will need:
-Armor quirks (structure quirks are useless)
-Maneuverability like a Summoner
-Hardpoint inflation or variance from stock builds to promote more diversity - perhaps an extra E hardpoint in the left arm on some mechs, since it has that punching stub instead of a hand?
-At least one decent offensive quirk per variant (-10% energy heat, +10% missile cooldown+velocity, +10% SRM cooldown, etc.).

The Thug is a rather plain mech. The Hatamoto is the better choice since it offers much more variety than the Thug. Having looked at both Sarna and MegaMek, these are what each mech variant has.
Thug Variants
Thug-10E: Energy/Missile
Thug-11E: Energy/Missile
Thug-12E: Energy/Missile
Thug-12K: Energy/Missile/ECM
Thug-13K: Pure Energy
Thug-113b:Energy/Missile
Hatamoto-Chi Variants
Hatamoto-Chi: Energy/Missile
Hatamoto-Hi: Pure Energy
Hatamoto-Ku: Energy/Ballistic
Hatamoto-Chi Daniel: Ballistic/Missile
Hatamoto-Chi 28T: Jumper
Hatamoto-Chi 28Tr: ECM/Jumper
Also with the Thug variants, you can get the same results and hardpoints as the 80-ton Awesome variants (minus the ECM one). The Thug is just too similar to the Awesome, while the Hatamoto has more to offer, instead of being a "cheap Thug knockoff". This is basically why I find it hard to support the Thug. So the variants for the Hatamoto is why I stand with the mech.

Yeah but the Thug is nicer looking.

I agree with you, the only artworks I like are by David White and Bishop Steiner. But I would love to see Alex's take on the Hatamoto.
