Why? The ability of an assault or heavy to kill a light mech that is being piloted at speed is next to zero if he's not against a wall, weapons out. This has been known for years - every single time somebody comes on this forum and complains that "lights are overpowered!" he is given this advise when piloting heavier mechs. Why do people now expect players in Solaris to throw out years worth of experience to instead play "dramatically" and get killed by a stupid light that magically spreads damage everywhere while probably ignoring a good deal of it, too?
The problem is such gross mismatches in weight tonnage producing boring, predictable tactics, not with assaults and heavies doing the ONLY thing they can do to survive against a fast, small light.
Not talking about assaults, even though I am sure they are doing the same thing.
I am talking about 65 and 70 ton mechs that can easily keep a light from their 6 by just knowing how to back and turn. Even the phract can keep a locust from behind him if he knows how to pilot. The problem is most pilots just sit there and try to twist.
Hmmm wonder if this tactic would be considered non participation.
I mean lets look at it. 1 player is actively trying to engage. 1 player is just sitting there doing nothing.
Seems like it to me.
Sorry but I see that I am in the minority here but I do not think this is what PGI had in mind with Solaris. The Mechs that can 1 shot a mech sitting and hiding in a corner.
And I agree the Phract SHOULD NOT HAVE EVEN BEEN ALLOWED in this division. They are completely dominating it. Which is the issue. If PGI holds to their guns and waits 3 months to move mechs out of divisions. Solars will be a ghost town.
I guess we have all finally been given the proof that we need that PGI has absolutely no idea how to balance the mechs between weight classes.
