It is to do with what mechs were available at the time point the upcomig WC is set, certain variants are yet to be manufactured.
Just misbehaving

Sadly, PGI wasn't considering for people's combat styles. Like this person said...

... it so happens that the Mechs on Sale are set corresponding to the 2018 MWO World Championships. Please refer to...

No love for the clans this event. Which is fine, I guess.
Just make sure you guys do spread a little generosity our way sometime soon.

I really miss the cosmetic sales...
Got a lot of new mechs that have no patterns... and as of late with the plethora of mech sales, the patterns are just more expensive than the mechs as of late (when factoring in the mech sales for MC).

I had trouble reading this with a straight face. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, so I answered as if you were serious.
If by the definition of good you mean provides PGI with an increase in revenue to continue production of the game, no it isn't good.
Whats the word for a company who narrows its focus to the very very small minority of ultra competitive fans who probably already own the vast majority of these mechs since most were released 4 - 5 years ago? Also curious on what the word for someone who defends such a poor business or even marketing decision.

You are an idiot aren't you... also you don't know business. First off it is just an event not some huge game change pandering to a minority. Having all events all the time trying to please everyone is stupid AF. Try to chase more then one rabbit at the same time and you'll get none. Much as I dislike the event it has a theme, competitive and IS. There is nothing wrong and only positives to gain from pleasing small loyal part of a community. The upside is they'll have to go to the other opposite side of the event, otherwise they'll look dickish and favorable to one side if the other does not get an event of their own

I don't expect that PGI take my play style in concideration, I just didn't know these mechs are not alowed in WC!

We have just had 3 mech sales in the last 4 weeks aimed at the mainly quickplay crowd... this is a follow up sale which is actually not aimed at the competitives. Its aimed the beer warriors / whales trying to get them into this years stock comp queue which is designed for them not the comp ppl. Trying to do sales to cover all customer demographics is actually smart, did you finish business and ecommerce 1.01 ?

Will probably have to sell them again, not enough free mech bays for the rest of the event, and neither the Victor (cockpit movement seems strange) nor the Cicada were convincing. Maybe some of the other chassis' I'll have to buy are more convincing.
I see it as an opportunity to get MC through spending cbills.

Most if not all of the mechs found in this "Sale Pack" are the sub par variants!
If you take alook at the mechs hard points of the assault groups there is maybe 6mechs out of 10 that are worth anything.

This sale is for specific mechs that are from the 3039 era of Battletech. They directly align with the mechs that are allowed for use in the 2018 World Championship, which in turn is themed after 3039 mechs that will all be played in stock builds. It's a marketing gimmick that helps promote the sort of mechs you will have available to you in MW5, which will also be the secondary centerpiece of MechCon 2018. Said mechs in said game will also be played in stock build because Mech Lab access is going to be extremely limited if not altogether inaccessible.
Unfortunately, the "good" variants were not produced in 3039, and as such do not align with the rest of the marketing gimmick. Thus no sale. I'm not sure how many times this needs to be said before everyone gets the memo, but here it is once again.
