I think that problem is abpout the SHS/DHS on the engine.

IMO, heatsinks on engine should have a flat rate, while single/double only counts for those outside.-

Yes, that is indeed the largest source of disparity since you can get so much extra engine cooling for no tonnage or critslot cost.

IMO for a global rate it should be all engine sinks being 2.0 dubs. This will entail external SHS going back down to 1.0 or so, however, because otherwise stuff would get crazy.

I would like to see:

all internal heatsinks = 2.0

all external SHS = 0.8-0.9
all external IS-DHS = 2.0

all external C-DHS = 1.5

0.8 SHS? Lolno. That makes them LESS than half a DHS.

yeah. they have to be 0.8-0.9 if combined with 2.0 internal DHS

any higher than that and theyre better than CDHS and especially better than ISDHS

since assault mechs run out of crits way faster than they run out of tonnage, the crit savings of the SHS makes them pull ahead of DHS severely.

even at 0.8 SHS get 2.4 dissipation per 3 crit slots. ISDHS only get 1.5 dissipation per 3 crit slots.

which is also why I think ISDHS need to be 2.0

...At the cost of triple the tonnage of 1 DHS.

Also you're asking for IS DHS to be 2.0 everywhere, meaning it's actually a comparison of 1 ton and 3 slots for 2.0 cooling versus 3 tons and 3 slots for 2.4 cooling.

like I said... assaults run out of crits way before tonnage

in fact, lots of assaults would love more crit slots. For those mechs, taking SHS to save crit slots would be well worth the extra tonnage.

correct

youre forgetting that SHS can fit in locations that DHS dont. they are much more flexible than DHS.

they can fit in head, CT, legs, and arms/STs even when 3 full crit slots arnt available. thats a pretty big advantage over IS-DHS.

I stand by what I said before. If all internal heatsinks are 2.0 the absolute best SHS should be is 0.9

I think 0.9 / 1.0 would actually be quite fair if all engine heat sinks (including the ones "integrated" over 250 that don't cost slots) are equal. That being said I woudn't buff DHS to 2.0, that would make lasers extremely OP with incredibly low tonnage.

IMO external double heatsinks are quite fine as it is, 1.5/1.6 is okay.

Slots are NOT more important than tonnage, you can see this with the number of Endo-Steel structure users and IS light engines vs IS standard engines. In Clan this is obvious by the use of Heavy Lasers even though they occupy more slots. 4 tonnage is worth like 14 structure slots. So being 2 or 3 slots is NOT more important than being 3 or 1 tons.

I disagree. Especially for IS assaults that have bulky weapons and ES that takes up 14 slots.

And even more so for IS assaults that are engine capped at 300 like the annihilator and cant put extra tonnage into their engines. Not to mention the recent ammo buffs that free up even more tonnage.

Also like I mentioned, SHS can fit in locations DHS cant. You can fit them in head, legs, CT, etc... That potentially saves critslots too since you can optimize your critslots more easily.

The annihilator is one of the reasons SHS cant be too good. You would literally be making the best assault in the game even better and thats a big no-no.

IS-DHS at 2.0 simply puts them on par with C-DHS.

because theyre 3 crit slots instead of 2.

and no it doesnt make lasers OP since IS lasers are worse than clan lasers. so even with equal dissipation, IS still has worse lasers.

Your typical clan laser vomit mech has 24 CDHS... with 2.0/1.5 thats 41 dissipation

your typical IS laser vomit mech has 18-19 ISDHS.... with 2.0 ext DHS that would be 36-38 dissipation. With the 10% heat reduction weapon quirks a lot of IS mechs have, that gets them very close to clan heat dissipation levels.

so yeah thats much better balanced than what we have now. IS external DHS should definitely be 2.0. ISDHS sucking is one of the game's biggest imbalances.

Care to rebuild it with dubs for me... and the AC10 variant while you're at it.

Of course, you seem surprised.

If you are serious, you must enjoy being legged on the first shot. Zero armor on the leg?

Check out that front armour while you're at it.....

Armour was just loaded and not distributed correctly.

Give it whirl if you ever get chance, as long as you're heads not stuck in the meta odds are you'll enjoy the ride.
