Translaton... in that "trade" the IS did 148.. as the claner did 94...

On the flip side, if you are poking from cover then both only fired once and the Clan did 94 while the IS did 74.

This isn't the real reason nobody uses 94 seriously. The real reason is because it's super inefficient in terms of heat and leaves the user open to being pushed. It's almost like...it's working as intended! Magical.

Exactly, and now devs want to beat that damage so far into the ground they might as well put "made by Nomanssky" on the side...

Why don’t we just don’t nerf Clan Lasers, add recoil to Gauss to make it fair and that’s it. The only viable weapons clans have is Lasers, Hell Buff our ballistic weapons if anything. Don’t put out a flat nerf that’s going to effect all clan mech because of 3 high alpha mechs.

Clans are supposed to have Superior Lasers with higher dmg and range, but they have higher heat and cooldown.

The big bad evil 94 point alpha. I know it as some players I know used it, when heavy lasers came out. Like me they discovered it runs too hot to be effective against good players. Someone pushes your location and your using that, even with cool shots, your going to spend a lot of time shut down.

Now for the Fun oh wait oh devs here you go a 100 point firepower damage fafnir WRATH
Two MRM 40s, guardian ecm, a couple of er medium lasers. By this stance and position you have taken on clan weapons, this means that both the IS er medium lasers and mrm 40s need drastically nerfd, because according to your argument if something is putting out numbers like that it should be at once nerfed and eradicated. Oh and the same needs to be done to the Heavy gauss. As I put forth a build of wait for it...90 points of firepower damage.

My point is the entire argument for over nerfing the clan laser vomit is a bunch of bull. Like the pros have been trying to tell you and you yet have to listen getting that mega clan build means mega HEAT!!. Against good IS units they will make you pay every time for bringing overheating builds like that to a fight. Now some tier 5 junky that does nothing but quick play may be able to get away with it. Not against the real mechwarriors of MWO.

About time. This has been my thoughts on how to rain in Clan alpha for ages. Keep the range but reduce the damage to just above the iS weapon damage scales. There will be plenty of clan players complaining, but playing the clan side has always been easier than fighting on the IS side in most Faction Warfare matches.

You forgot to add that it was 90 points of pinpoint damage this time which could one-shot most fresh heavies, to say nothing of the lighter classes.

All of these changes are meaningless without a better matchmaker.

Making chassis / weapon adjustments won't result in improved balance in 12v12 or 8v8 format.

Balancing players and build between the two teams will go much, much, much farther, than making minute adjustments to weapons here and there. The biggest problem MWO faces at the moment, isn't that Clan lasers/gauss is too powerful compared to weapon XYZ, it's that the matches are wholly lopsided one way or the other, more often than not. If the matches were actually close, the differences in weapon systems wouldn't seem so extreme. On top of that, with real matches you'd have useful data to base these small tweaks on, because right now, you do not.


Lasers and PPFLD will always be be the best because of how the game mechanics work. Eventually you'll result to damage spread under min ranges or no damage under min ranges because there really is no other answer for lasers and PPFLD, when combined with the ability to aim at individual components.


These nerfs and LRM buffs are just a crutch for a weak match making system and players who simply need to improve their game.



As far as pruning the data you have goes, you should probably throw out top 3-5% of players, and bottom 30-40%, then throw out any game that ends in 3-12 or worse. At least then your raw data will be more impact on the game at large.

IDGAFart about energy builds (Im a ballistics dude), thought this is only a test -and for sanity's sake I hope it fails-, I'd hate to see my backup weaponry go down the toilet.

Just get your head out your *** PGI, Battletech was never meant to be symmetrical, that being said, you're doing a terrible job at making it symmetrical.

Why..Why...stop the craziness..."balance/nerf".

Might as well use same weapons in all mechs or remove the clans mechs. This "balance" is going way over the top....more heat than damage is just bizarre and insane.

I love this game and have spent to much money to justify these changes you at PGI are proposing.

Follow the defined balance the community has already done or simply leave values as per TT.

Mechs and weapons were never balanced....

Balance is a myth because in the end you can't homogenize player skill, computer builds, ping...

Even if all mechs were made the same weight, height, hardpoint count/position, some players will rise and others will sink due to factors outside of PGI's control.

PGI needs to recognize this

The community needs to recognize this. (some do)

Exactly, but people will still cry, because they can not come to the realization that they just: are not as good, have a low-end PC, have high ping, or one of many other things that have nothing to do with "balance".

?? Since HGauss and Annihilators came in, IS basically ra.ped clans on 70% of the matches. Even long range ERLL trade doesnt go well with absurd IS erll duration compared to clan one, so the only way to play long range is just ppc poptarting. Please just play more than 5-10 CW matches per month before you tell some bs like that.

Ok TIME to speek up!!!!

Like many of my Teammates allready wrote, leave the clan-lasers be.

We like to play on both sides of IS and Clan. That beeing said, its not because
of our need for beeing shredded in Clan mechs so we can enjoy the IS Side again !

We like it the way it is because it is pretty good balanced.
(more Clan Weapons would be great thou)

The only problem in this game is the very slow learning curve for the new players without
the time to catch up to us with more nen 1000 gaming hours.

You realy have to learn to listen to the old and active community instead of
the new one that was just crushed be a 12 men Premate.

Tonnage is probably the best way to balance Clan vs IS without nerfing Clan weapons into baseline. You see less clan assaults but hey, more demand for Clan Lights and Mediums.

We also need more Clan vs Clan and IS vs IS events. Made allot of noise for the Civil War but only got one event related to it. Also skipped the Refusal War all together and that was what most of MW2 was based on, huge missed opportunity!
