That's often said by the folks who either use them, or know folks who use them.... problem is, shortly after anyone posts a link to a video here, a mod swoops in and deletes it, and sanctions the poster for violating the forum guidelines.
Not sure that any of that is true tbh, I'm just genuinely curious. MWO isn't an often hacked game imo, and with the component-based health and differing hitboxes, I don't think an aimbot would even be useful. On the other hand, there are many people that think aiming is hacking. Here's an example:

I've also been accused of hacking when a guy couldn't kill my commando lol. I'm actually interested in seeing anything of substance that would suggest hacking, cuz it's not at all common here imo.

People do in fact hack, but the mwo devs visually watch those hackers, and they ban them in waves. The devs even stated that even pilots with lots of money invested into mech packs have been found to hack (some in the thousands of dollars spent).
PGI has stated on audio that they have a very good program that they use to detect the hackers, but they watch and accumulate data so they can throw a large net.
Since your tier 1, I doubt you see any hackers because I would guess "most" of the hackers probably don't get past Tier 3. Hacking in this game is very noticeable since its not a twitchy fps game.
Anyway, I'm not sure why I am discussing this since this forum is about the upcoming PTS...
So...
my thoughts on the PTS...
I personally don't really like piloting clan mechs, but... please don't nerf the C-er Medium Laser by 25%... that's just ridiculous! smaller incremental changes please! And also, please don't touch C-er Small Lasers either...
These changes are way to heavy handed! The proposed changes literally don't affect Clan Heavy and Clan Assault mechs, since they have the high amount of tonnage to change to a different weapons platform (basically Large class lasers). This nerf literally only affects Clan Lights and Clan Medium mechs, since their available tonnage forces them towards certain weapon types.

The great thing about the recent Battletech and liking PPCs as much as I do is that I can make them any bit as powerful (or weak) as I want them to be. Design your own weapon balance.
Most likely it won't be too hard to alter weapon stats in Mechwarrior 5. I'm sure plenty of players would be happy to go create their own balance and never come back to MWO.
I believe that MW5 will have Steam Workshop support, so we will see all kinds of mods like we do for BATTLETECH. I really hope that PGI breaks down and allows PVP where we can host our own servers and then maybe have one or two "official, vanilla" servers up. If they did this then, I am certain that most of us would retire from MWO and play MW5. HBS did it right, where they make the game they way they intended and they only fix bugs and do only the most necessary balance changes, so people who like it the "official" way can play it that way without their Mechs being "rebalanced" to oblivion. However, since HBS allows modding, people who don't like the "official" way can mod the game and make it how they want and play their mods with other like-minded people without affecting the people who like the "offical" game and everyone is happy.

They won't allow PVP for MW5 for the very reason you mention. If people stop playing MWO altogether how will they sell mechs? It's their bread and butter. Being able to use the same models for MWO, MW5, and HBS is a big win for such a small studio.

They could sell cosmetic DLCs for MW5 and make paid expansions. MW5 will have a wider appeal, with solo, co-op and if it had PVP, PVP. Plus there would still be people who will play MWO, just less.

No they can't do that, not if they have mod support for MW5. Mods can do all of that for free.

Game hacks? Aimbots? Bruh, everything in this game moves so slow that keeping damage on one spot is trivial. And you don't need wallhacks when the game provides that functionality for you in the form of Seismic, UAVs, and Spotting.

My only issue with this is: Why would I ever even bother buying anything else from the very same developer who created this abomination in the first place?

I doubt they would make much money if you could just get the mechs in MW5 and play PVP the way you want with mods. They'd be losing out on a lot of money.

If it need to be balanced against IS, then this case should be only on Faction Play right? Thats the only thing when Clan vs IS.
Then why dont you just make it (for example) 8 Clan vs 12 IS on faction play to "balance" things?
One side play with their tech superiority, the other with number. Kind of playing Protoss vs Zerg, or Space Marine vs Tyranids. And make sure that IS tech are affordable for such tactics.

Good thing I won't be having time for it. Haven't even attempted to play anymore. I mean it's a shame, but hey, I feel sorry for the founders who funded a game and told something that would be promised but never happened. Those are the people I truly feel sorry for.

They would have to step it up and make "professional" DLCs that were better than the mods. They do have the license to make "official" Mechwarrior products.

I gave up on ever getting the game that was promised in PC Gamer when I first got my beta key when they revealed the halfhearted attempt at FW that is in the game now. That PC gamer article said that if you ranked up in each faction, you would then unlock the Wolf's Dragoons as a playable faction and as you ranked up in Wolf's Dragoons you would get access to things that were not available if you were not in that faction. That was just one part of FW that I was disappointed by. Really though, I don't totally regret spending the money, I did get to play something that was at least 50% of what was promised for a good number of years.

That much is true. I just look at and hear from founders what was promised, and what didn't happen.
And if you look here, there is a lot of founders I rarely see these days, let alone play; https://mwomercs.com/credits

Duration matters a lot.
The 94-Alpha "balance-needed" postermech example used Heavy Lasers right? While it really looks like an issue on paper, in actual fights, the user of that mech would rarely be able apply the full-damage burn on a decent enemy player. Full-damage burn should only happen during backstabs/successful flanking maneuver (in that case it is a good reward for the shooter and should be a fitting punishment for the receiver) and against a complete beginner who doesn't twist his torso and spread damage.
In other words, the 94-Alpha monster is only imbalanced against a noob player. And I think a lot of people would agree that if that is what it takes for them to learn how to be better at this game, then it is a fitting punishment for them and a good stimulant for beginner players to learn how to play this game.

HOW DOES ANY OF THESE CHANGES LIMIT BOATING?
The problem isn't the damage of a mech running two heavy lazers, its one running two heavies and 6 mediums. This solution only serves to f over lighter and especially weapon point starved clan mechs.
We need ghost heat levels per weight class, or make it simple, tie it into the number of weapon slots being fired at a time, instead of the specific weapon. i.e. you fire 3 energy and 2 ballistics, that is 5, so you gain 25% ghost. you fire 3 energy you get 5% ghost heat, you fire 3 energy, 2 ballistics and 3 missiles and its nap time at 75% ghost (the numbers clearly need work)

Do you think PGI will want to continuously slap C&Ds every time a modder replicates the DLC content into a free package?
