....From what I've seen on this game's population, do we have even assurance that we will be playing this mech before the game's servers close down?

What about January?
You know I think this means there will be some special surprise, maybe even a gift mech, in January.

You do realize if they did that, our Whammers would have spotlights too. As would likely a number of other mechs, so evvvveryone would be blind.

Yes, just like many other humanoid mechs we have in this game. You are supposed to use shielding and torso-twisting.
My concern is whether this game will survive til February 2019 to actually play this mech.

Yep, 2xGauss + 2xCERLL is gonna be very effective. I wish PGI had differentiated some of those variants, particularly the WHM-IIC-3, by giving it one more energy slot.

Charger and Hatamoto-chi are December releases and the Whammy 2C is a February release.

well not to be nitpicky but they should have done the Thug as well the Hatamoto was based off both the Charger and Thug. the Hatamoto chi has the same weapon load out as the thug 2 ppc 2 srm6. but that would be redundant
Same weapons loadout doesn't overcome the fact the Thug would be an entirely different model that PGI would have to create. Hatamoto is literally Charger with some differences, so the pack is less 2 'Mechs and more 1.5 'Mechs that PGI have add into game.

I am wary that the game might not have people playing it in February, but i'll give it a shot. I've wanted this for a while.
