I'm having fun when I play. You should absolutely not play a video game if you don't have fun doing it.

Increase in trial mechs and confusion on the battlefield should be a sign that some new players are joining in the wake of the MW5 advertisments and articles, frustrating but ultimately a really good thing.

MWO won't further die till the servers close. There was a massive change in the game though. Back in the day, group que was packed. If you wanted communication and teamwork, you could get it any time of day. CW failing, group que tonnage restrictions, and zero community chat options in game are what killed any chance this game had.

Remember making groups pay for getting big, taking in new players and teaching them?

Good times

I got several free mechs and heroes to skill up but lack a pc to run mwo with a minimal 50 fps. The laptop I use currently is twenty years old and can hardly run the first far cry since it has no dedicated video card. I've tried mwo with it at the max of 5 fps makes even a lrm atlas look great.

I took about a 3 month break and jumped back in a couple weeks ago. Having a great time myself. As always the core game play is fun through without any content additions like new maps to keep things fresh, it does get stale after a while.

Honestly, I have said it before and will keep saying it. If PGI worked on churning out a new map every couple months just to keep things new and fresh, this game would be a whole lot more successful.

He might be confusing you with Baradul.

With regards to the OP, definitely don't play when you're frustrated. For me, I don't really concern with winning and losing; I tend to just worry about trading damage and keeping an eye on how the movement of the battle is going. The funny thing is that keeping an eye on the people who are doing things you're 'not supposed to do' and supporting them if there are enough teammates doing it can end up working while getting you fighting in unexpected parts of the map which can be entertaining regardless of whether you win or lose.

I also tend to jump around to different mechs and different builds so I rarely drop more than a few times in the same build. I may play a medium ballistic mech, then switch to a heavy missile mech, then assault laserboat, then down to a light striker in the course of five or six matches (though usually I'm sticking with mediums and heavies and just changing up the loadouts and/or mechs in those two classes). Anything to change up the playstyle so I'm not dropping in the same mechs with the same weapons over and over.

One point to note though is that on some losses your team did not screw up; the enemy just executed their actions better or had the better mechs to execute the plan for the map and game mode that was chosen. When that happens I can appreciated what they did instead of criticizing the one or two things my teammates did that I wouldn't have done and blame the loss on that.

Not just you, been so many AFK's and disconnects today (all of them on blue team) that I'm not able to report AFK's any more today.

I have to be in a certain (inebriated) mood to enjoy MWO. It just has too many rough edges and stale gameplay at this point, there are games out there readily available that dont have the suck.

But if Im in a no care mood and miss my btech I do play in quickplay for giggles. I even played a little FP a week ago or so.

Yeah this helps me keep my interest as well. I have 243 mech now and seldom play more than 2-3 matches in a row with any one given chassis. Instead I skip around playing this and that to keep things a bit more fresh. Also quite often I tend to pull out older mechs from what I call the scrapheap, which are basically mechs I don't play anymore for various reason, and try to figure out a way to get a build on them that makes me want to actually play them all the time. Doesn't always work but every once in a while I stumble on the perfect build and a shinny new toy is born.

I do when I'm in my Virago or Deathstrike, but I would prefer to be able to run other 'Mechs and not lose matches so hard. I have found that unless I am in a tippy top meta 'Mech that's able to carry the team alongside the other two fellas who brought their A-game, I will just lose.

I have spent some time pontificating over my losing streaks, specifically how they can be so long - surely at some point I should win by sheer luck of the draw. I have concluded that matches are won by the team whose players tend to drive the best 'Mechs. Ergo if I don't bring something OP, I am shooting my team in the foot. This is because since tiers are mixed, the high tier players on the other team are probably bringing their big guns. If I bring something with less of a presence on the battlefield, the good players on the red side are going to crush blue that little bit more easily since the match maker is expecting me to hold up my end of the bargain.

What all this means is, if I want to win, I cannot bring 9/10ths of the 'Mechs I own. Even if the 'Mech is "good", that's not good enough, it has to be flat out the best in its class. Furthermore, when I buy a new 'Mech, I need to skill it up at least halfway immediately or face similar consequences. There's plenty of things wrong with the mechanics of this game, unfortunately. Still, it is enjoyable so long as you play within its stringent guidelines.

Group que used to be awesome. It always sucked running in to a 12-man team of tryhards, but most 12 v 12 and 8v 8 matches were great fun. PSR was another massive failure. Whoever thought time invested > performance in ranking really dropped the ball.

I dont know about you guys but i'm... very... dissapointed in how MWO turned out and can name off so much stuff that could use improvement BUT i still find the game fun. If anyone is having a sucky time playing the game as of late I recommend try sound pack mods for the hud, sound packs for background music, and macros. mw2 music playing in matches with the original bitching betty telling you the ammo for your triple AC2s is critical is the shiznit... just a suggestion again.

Started in 2014. Actually had fun during the synch drops vs LORDS.

Lost interest last year which coincided with my laptop dying.

Got a new rig, playing a little now.

Is it fun? Yeah...once i gave up on CW, Balance, and MM.

Now i KNOW its just casuals shooting robots with each other.

I had to give up caring but its fun enough to keep playing, casually.

I might see what MW5 has to offer.

Dont understand why you are outing MWO... Every game like MWO, aka World of tanks/Warships, Warthunder ,etc, etc is plagued with players that are not playing correctly, so Idk why people are getting mad at... You cant blame the devs or the game.

Tho my issue is that party search is dead and you cant play quick match with your friends, that would have solved my issues with this problem.

Let me start by saying I absolutely agree with you here regarding mechs and winning.

However, I suggest that it is perhaps unwise to hold winning (or K/D ratio, or match score, etc.) as a primary (or necessary) component of fun. Far too many variables are beyond your control in order to secure a "win". IMO, it's more "fun" to goof around in different mechs, try different builds, and drink some good liquor while you're at it. All while trying to win of course.

Anything just leads to stress, frustration, and threads like the OP's.
