What I do take issue with is players like you who pay zero recognition to this being a team game and infer the survival of the tail-end-charlies or any one mech should fall wholly upon their shoulders.

Again... "team game".

No teammate should be considered "dispensable"... Even potatoes contribute to the potential shared armor tonnage and aggregate damage potential.

If your personal survival outweighs the success of the team... Yeah, that's selfish. Color me overly idealistic I guess.

Uh, no. It's a team game, and splitting off to try to help someone with poor positioning just screws over the team. I absolutely hate when people get themselves out of position and then scream "help me." One of three things happens:

(1) They die alone, as they should, because they are out of position. It's your own responsibility to stay with the team or put your mech in a position where it is the most effective. This is the best outcome.

(2) One or more mechs break off from the main group to go help that person. He/she dies anyway, and now the team is split with half of it in a bad position. We get stomped because the team is split.

(3) One or more mechs break off from the main group to go help that person. He/she survives, but badly damaged. Now the team is split with half of it in a bad position and, again, we get stomped because the team is split.

If you want to support the team, don't split off to go help the person who put themselves in a bad position. We are all better off with one dead teammate rather than a split and poorly positioned team.

Out of position needs context...

Are they out of position because they went the wrong way, stayed stationary or derped around? Yeah, they made their own bed. I'm talking about the mechs or mechs that are making earnest effort to keep up with the NASCAR have full capacity to contribut but get set upon by a faster NASCAR or in effort to keep contact distance with the blob, have placed themselves in the open and are getting sniped or rained on.

Also let's dispense with the whole "break off and out of position" nonsense... Support doesn't require breaking off and separating. A lot of times it's snapping off a few LRMs, PPC or ERLas shots to get the enemy to take pause or back down temporarily.

I'm talking about the single-minded pretense of "must rotate, must stay with blob" mentality that is willing to sacrifice much needed armor and firepower in the name of self preservation.

Depends, if its FTW thats for the team, right!

In many situations it comes down to which team can kill the fastest.
If my team can kill 3-5 of theirs whilst abandoning one of ours, I say that's a fair trade (Solo Que)
FTW the teams win.

I been that assault, winning makes it easier to take. It wasn't for nothing.

I don't see the logic in Nascar, lets face it only the front most mechs are shooting, the rest of the team can't shoot because of being blocked by team mates or are too far behind. So team fire power on target is reduced.

If you're running around an object in a circle and not able to shoot then you can't be contrbuting to a victory.

Stop the Nascar numpties, it is ruining the game worse than Lurmageddon.

Just misbehaving
