I thought when the Whammy IICs were released with worse mobility and agility stats than a 90-ton mech, it was so they could be tweaked for the better later, especially the Bludgeon. What in the world made y'all think that increasing the size of the mech instead would make it any better. Adding a couple of points of armor isn't going to do a damn thing to improve it.

Don't get me started regarding some of the other changes. TAG? I wouldn't use it now if it were only visible to me. It would be nice if the people developing my favorite games actually played them.

*sniff* my beloved Frozen City is back. I'd tune back right away after the patch but I rather wait a week or so until people had their time to flood the battlefields with missiles. Oh and I also need to install more AMS launchers.

Not only will you piss off competent players with this change, but the poor mech dads that just want to lob missiles will leave too.

If PGI got it so wrong that ~nobody is happy about it, to make everyone happy they should consider applying the exact opposite patch instead.

Of the current scale...The Warhammer (IS) is 75 tons and 15.5 meters tall.

The Dragon is 13.5 meters tall.

The Warhammer IIC is just barely 14 meters tall.

See the issue?

Take a Warhammer IIC and a Wolfhound and put them next to each other...
The Warhammer IIC...is barely half a window taller.

One of those two is 35 tons, the other is 80....

It certainly will be an interesting patch, looking forward to it. Overall, i like what i read. Good job on the patch notes, whoever does them - all explained in detail, with videos. Quality stuff.

Questions:

1) Does TAG still remove ECM cover from the target? Or there's no purpose now to have TAG on a LRM mech? Is it strictly for the support role now?

2) How does the dumb-fire without a lock-on counts now - direct or indirect? If i shoot missiles into the crosshair, will they take a short path, or a long one?

Concerns:

1) Seems like you further increased the value of ECM mechs. I don't think the game required this.
Alright, what's done is done, then allow more mechs to carry an ECM. You already have precedents of ECM hardpoints on mechs that never had it in the lore - COM-2D, AS7-D-DC.. So give the ECM hardpoint to more mechs. Preferably to unpopular ones, like some Dragon model/s, or Victor, Wolverine, or whatever your metrics shows as least used.

2) Not quite sure about different missile health for different launchers. It's kinda stupid - they all use the same ammunition. But okay, this is the world of giant walking robots warmachines, so abandon all logic, ye who enter here.
But does this mean the return of stun-lock chain LRM5 ? And does this mean mechs with more LRM hardpoints will be better off boating smaller launchers, getting much tougher to kill projectiles? If you tried to nerf massive salvos, i think you kinda failed, players will find a way around.

P.S. Many people seem to think this as a lurm buff. Game certainly doesn't need that. But i have an impression it is a nerf, not buff. Like velocity buffs - does this mean i'll be lurmed faster? But if indirect angle is higher - then overall travel time may not increase. And if it is a direct fire - just shoot the bugger, he's in the open.
But maybe i'm wrong, and it is a buff. Then it is bad news. But i will try before i cry.

*Don't get me wrong, I think its acceleration should be at least 20 to 25, similar to the Warhawk's which is 20-ish. Its currently 13. But this was originally done while the Warhammer IIC was the size of a 45 ton mech. It's now gonna be B33FED up to the size of an incredibly tiny (for mwo standards) 80 ton mech...so it should be okay to have it accelerate quicker and be able to twist.

Great, now that IDF has been buffed I'll be eagerly looking forward to 20% buff to all direct fire weapons in April.

I'm very happy that we are all unified in the effort to drive down TTK as much as possible.

If we aren't spending more time waiting for a match to load than actually playing the match - we're doing it wrong!

Yes, to the classic maps return. Much tighter and intense games coming

No, to the LRM-fest coming

One simple balance bandaid for if the LRMs prove way too out of hand AFTER the initial month of the change, is to simply increase their cooldown by a second or so.

@PGI what will be the health values for big missile volleys? Saying "The previous universal value will be set as a baseline and applied to LRM 5 launchers" does not clarify anything at all. The reduction better be good to compensate for all the ams quirks nerf.

Not sure what everyone is whining about. TAG still cuts through ECM, the lock-on bonus has been baked in to direct fire missiles, and IDF has been nerfed like people have been asking for since forever. WHMIIC still needs mobility buffs but otherwise the patch looks pretty good to me.

Yeah give the Whammy IIC s some better agility/mobility because armor quirks are always welcome but it currently handles worse than a cinderblock.

You are giving the TBR-D a streak HSL +1 quirk.

So... if by some unholy reason I want to torture myself in a timber wolf whit a quad streak build I'd generate 3 less heat ?!?!?
Are you even serious?
That THREE extra ghost heat was what holding this chassis back and was worth creating a quirk for?
Is this a joke?

Who even runs a Timber?
Who is concerned about 3 extra heat?

What outcome are you expecting to see?

Why is it so hard to take these quirks seriously.

snap out of it Chris!

Most top players seem to be able to hit my cockpit or CT without err with a poptarting summoner wielding er ppcs, no amount of lrm buffs is going to fix that.

Now its going to be lurms and poptarting atms for days, no wait, that was yesterday, this is the business as usual patch.

(Back to Warhammer scale, I was curious... Now the resolution wasn't the same I'm guessing OR the original image has some slightly odd proportions (I lined up part of the image over mine [specifically the panel to our left the mech's right along the floor], and either they're using a 16x10 screen, not using 1080P, or slightly altered the dimensions to fit their double image with the quirks...)
Edit: somehow the word not was missing.
Whatever the case, note that the Corsair's image is NOT100% accurate, however since things are 'bigger' in the image (and slightly to our left despite perfectly lining up a section of floor), it seems the image might possibly be stretched a bit or the camera is possibly ever-so-slightly higher than for the Warhammer IIC.
The most noticeable thing is when the Corsair comes up overlaid on top of the Warhammer screenshot, the perspective seems to skew, as if it rather than 16x9 it is something else.

During the day gimme an idea of what mechs to put in there, and will also try to figure out what exactly they did (my best guess is slightly expand a smaller image to get it to fit perfectly with the other shot of the quirks)

Otherwise might try to recreate some of the other locations they snapped shots at with the floaty cam.

It best compares to the Zeus at the moment for the body, though the arms really inflate its size.
