Not really. I’m not against lower skilled and casual audience being able to have fun. I’m against the fact that you could literally stand on one spot holding LMB alpha striking LRM80+ for entire match and get 1500+ dmg from it.

The situation you described is basically THE ONLY way to get that kind of damage.. But that means nobody pushed you, your team backed you up, and no lights chewed your rear torso off.. And how often does that happen?

Yes, an unattended LRM boat can do massive damage. So can an unattended Gauss sniper.. so I don't really get your point.

P.S.

You can't even do that on all maps, as some maps are too big and not even LRM have that kinda range.. you have to move with your team at least a little.

Phoenix,

Name calling and trying to belittle someone is a sure sign that you don't have an actual argument. Please try to refrain from that. I wasn't trying to insult you I was just pointing out that your were proving his point while trying to argue against it.

He doesn't sound like he plays from the back only shooting at locks others get for him. I haven't watched him play so I don't know but I'm willing to give him the doubt since he stated that he didn't.

Why are you all so Butt Hurt by LRMs? I don't get the hate.

You are top tier players, you think that lower tier players are getting an advantage through the use of LRMs? If that's the case you can use them too. If you choose not to use them because it's beneath you, that's a YOU problem.

I don't see the problem. If standing in one spot getting 1500 damage is how he derives fun what's the problem? Nobody said you had to do that. You are saying the he has to conform to your style or he's wrong.

LRMs aren't affecting you at the top of the game. If they were so good you would all be using them. He isn't competing with you. He's dropping in Solo QP derp mode. There is no competition there. If you are saying that LRMs are breaking the competitive scene then I totally get it. They are breaking it are they? Did you lose the championship because people were LRMing too much? I don't think that was ever brought up as a concern.

Confusing the fun to play derp mode with competitive play seems to be the issue here. Maybe PGI should nerf them for comp, if you guys see it as a problem. I don't think it's an issue in QP, we're just here to have fun. Being the best in the world isn't how we derive that.

Oh boy ... I feel young again, like 5 years back when I was bashing the same lurmer on this very forum with different "lurm-hate" crowd ... Only he was Lurm-80 Stalker back then instead of a Lurm-80 Supernova. Much has changed!

Again.. somebody who gets it..

This reminds me of the old "explaining religious tolerance meme" which says:

My religion bans me from doing this, so I don't do it - OK
My religion bans me from doing this, so YOU can't do it - not OK.

Isn't is same with this game? Live and let live.. If you don't like LRMs, don't use em. Smash me with your SRMs.. but let me have my fun, like I let you have your fun..

I use LRMs on a quite a number of my mechs.
I can say one thing for sure. Getting locks at any range is definitely not a problem, lol.

I don't understand OP's point.

Seriously, at what range are you trying to get locks? 1600 meters?

Use a better weapons system. LRMs are beyond the level of training wheels -- they aim for you, track for you, don't require line of sight, don't even require your own locks. MWO's implementation of LRMs is easily the worst in the entire franchise, and specifically because of indirect lock-on firing.

Ok. I'm happy you've got no problem..

I didn't say it's impossible to lock.. I state that it's much harder than it should be.. I'm talking about IDF locks, locks against ECM in general.

I state that locks in general should be buffed, especially IDF locks..

I disagree. LRMs are far from what they could realistically be.

LRMs neither aim for you, not track for you. Its gotten increasingly harder to lock and track. Loosing lock is often near-instantaneous. Locking often involves holding the target reticle dead-center on a moving target for 10+ seconds.

So yeah.. I disagree.

Basically, yeah Posted Image

Since it wasn't a problem, and in fixing this "problem" they overreacted and went too far.. I'm asking them to scale it back a bit..

LRMs were never a problem until big units started trolling everyone with them.

But those units are such that if they all picked up flamers right now, tomorrow, flamers would be deemed OP. Same goes for any other weapon in game.

Would you like an auto locking mechanism for you so you dont even need to press R?

tbh the one concession i would make is pulling back the reticle nerf from a few months ago. where you have to keep the reticle within a smaller radius of the middle of the red box.

I've spectated some people and they really need it. Some are old &/or disabled and legit need help, but others are controller joystick and steering wheel users.

Man that was really aggressive and uncalled for. What did he or I for that matter do to you. That's the second time you've tried to belittle me. You wouldn't speak to me like that to my face why are you doing it here? You sound like a decent person for most of what you've written and then you say things like that. You're making it hard for me to want to continue having a conversation with you. Didn't your mother teach you any manners?

That's why I block his posts.. cose' you just can't have a normal conversation with some people.. And I'm done getting dragged into arguments in which moderation has to step in..

That said, I'm also done with this thread. Any more and it will just devolve into more toxicity and needless namecalling..

I hope PGI reconsiders their treatment of LRMs and how hard it is to get IDF locks like they have reconsidered AMS / missile health..
