^ The reason why MW5 won't sell 1 million copies.

And if this is the aim rather than a faithful translation. Well it can continue to be a watered down mess like MWO is now and it will still be niche and still not sell no matter how hard you want them to SELL OUT and be like EVERY OTHER PIECE OF TRASH that I don't buy out there. EVEN IF IT'S POPULAR.

You have said multiple times the rules shouldn't apply or should be changed. You don't like the rules as written.
Now all of a sudden it's racist and you have gone off the rails.

This is hardly the first time I've accused Battletech of being a little racist.

This is the first I've seen it.
Right wrong or indifferent you were always entitled to your opinion in our banter back and forth not matter how tedious.
But BattleTech (Read some novels in it's entirety) was INCLUSIVE YEARS before it was a thing. Personally I never went into it saying: "Oh hey I hope they properly represent (Insert race/culture here)". You're saying it's racist now?
This is ASININE. Needs to stop and I'm not going down this road with you anymore.

You have a serial lack of being able to pay attention; this doesn't surprise me.

Yeah, it sure includes a lot of really bad stereotypes where the Asian cultures are depicted as scheming, xenophobic, war mongering, underhanded, and the space white americans are almost always the heroes. That sure is inclusive lol.

Good. Continue to be a detriment to something you love somewhere else.

lol. So you have some other reason why battletech only appeals to a very narrow demographic?

I actually probably own more of the novels than you do; my father read all of them.

Quality over quantity.
Cool story.

Also, one of my units mates is American Indian. Super cool dude who serves in the US military.
Another super cool dude I played here with that isn't around any more was of Korean descent.
Clearly non-whites.
I don't know why you want to keep down this road?

So what in the great Cazadin name is going on here. Seems like this thread have devolved into a politcal debate and other crap.

Wow. I didn't even call you a racist and you still went all "But I have this one black friend!"

GG, I understand why you're so triggered now.

Uh... what?

None of the factions are xenophobic (One of the weirder things in Battletech is how easily most planets/populations get assimilated when conquered. Most people don't seem to care who's the boss, or who they're the boss of).

All the factions are depicted as scheming.

The biggest warmonger in the canon who is alive during the novelized parts of the timeframe (Excluding Clanners) is Hanse Davion, leader of one of the "white" factions.

Everyone is underhanded except the Draconis Combine (Or at least they're a bit less so).

The heroes are not always "White Americans" (The "American" faction, by the way, is the Terran Hegemony. It's been dead for hundreds of years by the time a playable game is made), and the "White Factions" being the heroes in stories is largely just a matter of the early novels' perspective, which was rectified a while ago.

I do find it hard to relate to the major BT factions. Not being Asian or European myself. If I relate to any of them it's in the loosest sense. I was only Liao in MWO because of the unit I was in. As someone who immigrated to another country it can be very hard to find things you relate to. Finding the same problem with BT a bit.

There is quite a bit of walking back from the earlier depicts of house liao and especially kurita; but those stories and depictions still remain canon.

lol, yes I'm very triggered by pointing out one of the many reasons why the IP doesn't have widespread appeal. Sure thing bud.

House Liao's bad image largely stems from a single leader who's not bad because he's Asian, but because he's an absolute nutter. I'm not sure what you're talking about Kurita wise, unless you're referring to the Kentares Massacre, which is more complicated than "Asian man evil."

Its bcs Space Feudalism...the overlords come and go and as long they provoke not to much uproar (i.e. forcing cultural and religious changes) people move on with their life in the business as usual manner...

Battletech, Mech Warrior, Mech Commander, Mech Assault and the dear BT TT will survive. Its just rough, really rough now at least for the MW crowd. I might install MW4 to make the time pass for next year...

I always thought Kurita was represented well. Sure Liao might be a bit slanted in the novels, but its not far off from how the Chinese Communist Party and Workers Party of Korea run things. (PS I've always pictured the St Ives Compact as a modern Taiwan /HK)

On the subject of the clans versus inner sphere and the table top rules/books - Video games can be true if they were to separate the tech into two factions. IE. A Inner Sphere Company versus a clan Binary. 12vs10
