None of the factions are xenophobic (One of the weirder things in Battletech is how easily most planets/populations get assimilated when conquered. Most people don't seem to care who's the boss, or who they're the boss of).
All the factions are depicted as scheming.
The biggest warmonger in the canon who is alive during the novelized parts of the timeframe (Excluding Clanners) is Hanse Davion, leader of one of the "white" factions.
Everyone is underhanded
except the Draconis Combine (Or at least they're a bit less so).
The heroes are not always "White Americans" (The "American" faction, by the way, is the Terran Hegemony. It's been dead for hundreds of years by the time a playable game is made), and the "White Factions" being the heroes in stories is largely just a matter of the early novels' perspective, which was rectified a while ago.
