How do you feel about Jihad?

It was an unfortunate name, considering the time it ended up finally being released.

I didn't bring it up because I thought the name was culturally insensitive; I mean as a plot point.

Good idea, borderline criminal execution. The general reasoning behind it was sound (Bringing the series back to its tech-scarcity roots), but it was done in such a sloppy, ham-fisted manner I'm surprised the writer's hands didn't rebel during the writing process.

And that was like, what, the third time they've done that?

I personally believe that they decided to nuke down the technology again specifically because of how it affected board game balance.

I am, but I'm not watching a 7 minute long video to guess the point you're trying to make.

You're just echoing more the same noise with new noise.
You sucked me in again to add to the chaff of BS purveyed here now.
I don't know what happened to the other guy who discussed BattleTech. Right wrong or indifferent. At least it wasn't this road you took in this thread. Find something to be offended and now you'll find ANYTHING to be offended and continue to HATE BATTLETECH.

That doesn't really line up with post-Jihad tech though. While Mixtech (Spheroid mechs with Clan engines and weapons) became more common, so too did the disparity between "good" lore mechs and "bad" lore mechs grow ever larger. They even made Industrialmechs a common thing, and those are mega garbage.

Unrelated, here's a picture I took. May it calm everyone down a smidgen to look at a pretty image of a butterfly for a moment.

They didn't really elminate power creep after the end of clan invasion either; they just fold it into the rest of the game.

Where did I say I hated battletech?

I only said it was borderline racist in places, a little convoluted, and probably needs a reboot that doesn't revolve around arbitrary board game mechanics so it appeals to a bigger audience.

You have said multiple times the rules shouldn't apply or should be changed. You don't like the rules as written.
Now all of a sudden it's racist and you have gone off the rails.

itt: mechdads complaining about how kids these days don't appreciate their dumb boomer hobby.

BT TT rules are a convoluted mess.

A lot of the "classic" BT artwork is absolute trash.

Many of the expanded universe stories are just terribly written

BT often times relies pretty heavily on cringeworthy stereotypes (don't use the R word, the boomers will get upset)

You know what isn't cool? All of that. Most people don't want to play BOARDGAME THE VIDEOGAME which is a convoluted mess based on poorly written and often eye-rolling "lore" and rule systems,

You know what IS cool? Big robots shooting each other.

Get over yourself.

EDIT: Though yah, Clanners probably should have had more close range brawler tech than the uber-range stuff they ended up with. It was weird how the lore had the clans fighting honor duels in relatively close combat, yet their mechs all came equipped with super sniper tech.
Having sniper tech made sense to me. They lived in a resource limited area and emphasis on efficient precise tech that allowed them to stay at greater distances to limit damage would allow them to have honor duels and show off skill. Wading into the thick of battle is just going to be chaos and have a greater cost in terms of equipment and personnel. Duels in general were a way to limit the amount of losses both sides would otherwise suffer in a full on engagement.

you're welcome to like another IP if battletech doesn't live up to your standards.
