Almost all "feature development" to the actual gameplay of MWO amounted to so many different attempts at re-arranging the same deck of cards. The only new gameplay feature they ever produced that was decent was the Training Academy, and that's not even the core game. The three or four game modes they produced were all universally panned, and mostly used recycled mechanics anyway. All of the Civil War tech is also recycling various mechanics, which is why none of the equipment that would require even marginally more work than copy+pasting an existing item and tweaking its stats were actually included. Solaris was always going to be a horrendous waste of resources because only a fleetingly small portion of the community actually wanted it in the first place. The icing on that sh*t cake is that the various infrastructure mechanics they put in place for Solaris could have been built and extended into the core game years ago and would have done a better job of match-making, building immersion, etc.
But no.
Solaris was doomed as soon as it was clear there was nobody to hold locks.
To be fair MWO code has.... issues. It was never going to be happy with big changes.
As to immersion, a F2P PvP game is always going to struggle with that. The players are the content and players, as a given rule, suck. While inverse kinematics would be cool the mechs are otherwise pretty amazing. Visually great, deeply customized individual audio, etc.
There's a lot of potential for MW5 to be way more immersive and engaging. We'll see how that pans out. The actual combat in MWO feels great and that's staying, so are the visuals and audio, etc. I absolutely get that people have a lot of history with MWO and translate that into assumptions about specific people at PGI and their personal ethics and attitudes and stuff but I would say MW5 is way, way less of a gamble than, say, any Bioware game is now or any Ubisoft game that's not out of Montreal.

What EPIC is doing is good for the industry. Steam needs competition and its a shame people are too stupid to see that.

Regardless of how much I've soured to MWO over the last year or so I'm still and Battletech/Mechwarrior nerd at heart.

I also believe PGI are bad game developers and lack technical skills. They don't know how to make something fun, and even if they did they lack the ability to implement it.
Also they seem to suck badly at sound design.

So, you played a game for 6(?) years which means that either you really like the game, or a masochist (I’ll rule out the option that Russ has a gun to your head and is making you play). And after this you come to the company’s BBS to tell everyone that PGI are bad game developers, and you are even happy to announce that you paid NOTHING all these years - this is nothing to be proud of. Unless you have serious financial issues you sir should be hiding under a rock from the shame.

Free players bolster the population and are vital for a F2P games health and longevity. The whales provide the funds and the leeches provide the playerbase.
So no I'm really happy and proud of the free ride I got from this game and PGI has benefited from this relationship as much as I have.
Have a great day.

I really like MWO in terms of mechanics and have a lot of fun playing it, but i am more of single-player gamer, introvert and with almost no competitive urges at all so MW5 is more like my game.
I don't ever understand hate for PGI because as i see it they are genuine BT fans and provide a lot to recent revival of franchise.
They are not perfect, they are small indie devs but i really doubt that any other company were willing so much for new MW game to happen as they did.
I was so hyped in 2009 then that UE3 demo trailer dropped and i still hyped for new MW game now.
And i really like Atlas design from that trailer, maybe some modders will inject it one day to the game.

I see.
So you claim that you suffered through the years PGI has been destroying this game as a favor to PGI and to the paying customers.
How noble and altruistic of you.
Thank you.

PGI pushed the community onto steam and now someone flashes them some cash and they bail on Steam, well, I'll have no part in it.

Don't give a damn about it being on epic or not.
Seems its ok for Microsoft to spy on you,
and amazon, google.
Seems it's ok for FACE BOOK to collect your data sell it on and have third parties data mine you
Its o.k for people to track you through ATM's and card payments in stores
but the sky falls down when/ if its the Chinese, whom already own half of the business developments in the states and europe
nah I'm keeping it, and won't have to listen to whining sheets all through my games
