I feel like its possibly the Ebon Jaguar, because I've seen so many different builds for it. But I'm not an expert on clan mechs, what do you think?

Well, the question is about "is" and not "was" Posted Image hence, i'd go with Ebon Jaguar, followed by the Nova Cat, but just because it has more weight to work with.

as in "can build anything out of it" (QP) ?
-maybe the Ebon. there are lots of candidates, though.

as in "can bring it to any match/mission/map" (QP) ?
-hellbringer & veagle.

obviously, there are other things to consider entering FW.

Huntsman (/Maddog if you're quirking).

Once you go up in tonnage the only thing you get is more weight to work with. At which point you might as well skip to the Dire.

These things can be incredibly nasty with the right pilot.

The Vapor Eagle is easily the most versatile when considering all its variants as a chassis. They cover every single weapon combination and play style type. The Rifleman IIC is also brilliant for weapon choice, but it's tougher to play than the VGL. If you want to talk about specifically a single chassis with switchable components, then I imagine the Huntsman Pakhet would be the overall winner although to be honest I personally haven't found it good for anything other than streak srm builds - those hit boxes are large.

Define versatile. For me, most build versatility- have to agree with Ebon, though most heavy omnis are right behind it.

For map/mode/team composition versatility, as in, can perform well given any combination of variables- HBR. I can take one of my three out at any time and usually have a more successful match with less effort than nearly any other mech. Unconcerned with map temp, layout, or potatoes, HBR will perform regardless.

one of the best srm-bombers out there; great for faction (with the right crowd).
also my goto-mech for scouting. when scouting was still a thing .. I miss that mode.

Yesss I briefly played scouting with another company my friends were in and we won every game we played. SRM/LB-20X to the knees of a medium evaporates their mobility, or if you get the chance to slam them in the back it's instagib. Such a ridiculous 'Mech to run in Scouting and great fun.

Depending on each weight category and type of mech I would say:

Light Battlemech - Incubus

Light Omnimech - Kitfox

Medium Battlemech - Vapor Eagle

Medium Omnimech - Huntsman

Heavy Battlemech - Rifleman IIC

Heavy Omnimech - Tie between Ebon Jaguar/Hellbringer

Assault Battlemech - Mad Cat MKII

Assault Omnimech - Blood Asp

Honorable mentions are Mad Dog, Arctic Wolf, Jenner IIC, Hunchback IIC, Summoner, Warhammer IIC, Marauder IIC

I think the Hunchback-IIC is amazingly versatile.

adder is pretty good for being able to sling effective loadouts of all weapon types. it comes with the small caveat that if they look ay you cross eyed you might explode.

I have fun with my Ebon Jaguar Prime with what what I call "Party Mech" build

1x LRM 10
X2 AC/5
1x Medium Laser
1x SRM6

4 different weapon groups gives your mouse hand plenty to do.
The diverse spread of weapons gives you a little bit of long range bite, a little bit of up close Smash, and if you run out of ammo you can always rely on your yellow light saber.

Not overpowered but great for Dynamic gameplay!

"Ebon Jaguar Prime

Anyone that wants to have an effective mech, don't use this. Somehow, it effective at no ranges. You are in close range fighting, you are out done, you are in mid range fighting, you are out done, you are relied upon as indirect fire, you are out done. You are simultaneously bad at everything you do. If you want to play as a bad mech for role play in group ques, by all means, but if anyone in this thread wants a good mech, do not take this build as a good idea.
