10% Percentile difference between the groups ....

And the guy who was 40% percentile did whooping 80 dmg . That said this is not even getting close to some of the matches I've seen so far .

To rub further salt into the wound;

Our side has 1 player below 1.0 KDR. Our side has 6 players with 300+ average match score. Our weakest player has an average match score of 240.

Their side has 4 players below 1.0 KDR. Their side has 4 players with 300+ average match score. Their weakest player has an average match score of 189.

Whoever has the better player carry power wins. It's not even group tonnage anymore, it's just whoever has the better stack wins.

Some people have been saying this constantly only for tonnage to be adjusted.

This mostly hurts the worse players, not the better ones. Better players will just take the usual and stomp, as usual.

So you're saying tonnage doesn't matter.. i agree.. mm should prioritize skill and tonnage should be a secondary priority.

After having a few more matches over two accounts... Yeah... Not in favour of it... You see some guild tags at the beginning of the match and you just know what's coming. You try to play as well as you can, but keep watching your team collapse around yourself... So essentially, you just want to get over it, not spectate, but get a new Mech and a new match as quickly as possible to make sure you do not run into the same people again.

I am also getting really tired of the millions of Rifleman IIC with 6 AC2s that seem to be the new meta... I usually play Brawlers...

Now, if you drop solo there is no way you can influence the game as it used to be. We have all been through that at one time or another. The main question from the start of this, is how can we retain the solo players once they find out they are in a competitive disadvantage every time they click the play button.

This update is what makes me consider returning.

There are concerns by other players particularly for larger groups. I think the beauty may be found in the middle. Possible suggestion:

generate OPTIONS
Quick play FLEX (solo or duo who wants to participate in either game)
Quick play group (8 vs 8 games for groups of 3+ and FLEX volontueers)
Quick play solo/duo (12 vs 12 games for duo/solo players)

There are some good counters to AC2 Rifleman IICs. AC2 boats generally struggle the most against poptarts because a poptart can jump out, fire an alpha, and then go back to cover before the AC2 boat can land many (or sometimes any) hits. Dakka or brawl builds can also work given they can burst an AC2 mech down relatively quickly, but it's all about finding the right path to close the range at that point.

Don't forget, they are tweaking it every day to see how it goes. today the tonnage ratio was off. the settings will keep being tweaked until we get close to a happy medium.
keep playing a few matches a day to help them dial it in. rage quiting ( see the "i dropped today" thread) does not help it get better.

Very true. We should instead go directly to the streamers & noticeably point out all their stomps replacing "I dropped today" with "Oh look, another stomp, YAWN" only by confronting ego can one point out when it trumps sportsmanship or even entertainment.[/color]

The quick-play matches are more one-sided than they have ever been imo. Most of my matches end up 12-2 or 12-4 stomp with my team losing most matches. This used to happen before, but not with the frequency of the current play. Having the 4-man teams added to either side is fine. I will give them a while to fix things and hopefully not get frustrated and quit, only time will tell.

In my case, I crested the ramp on the Citadel in the middle of River City to see where the enemy was, in my 5 MPL Vindicator. Did not see anybody, until the Rifleman crested the other ramp and killed me despite torso twisting, before I could get back down the ramp. Bad positioning on my part, I essentially only got one alpha off. But I have seen those things do insane amounts of damage on Frozen City, when Assaults would walk from spawn to cover constantly under fire.

Sheer brilliance PGI so great to be able to drop in a lance sized group with my unit mates, this is what I could do in 2013 and its so good to be able to do it again. Having an absolute ball, I hope so much that you make this a permanent feature. It will bring new and old players back to the game.

Thank You sooo much for reviving group queue. It is great to play with my friends again. I'll take whatever you give us , but I would prefer 300 tons for groups of 4....

You can't.

World of Warcraft showed that when they introduced battlegrounds
Warhammer Online showed it as well

The only solution was to divided solos from groups. And these games had a far lower pvp skill ceiling

To make things worse: The (unskilled) groups will dwindle as well as soon as solos stop playing because they will be suddenly the new cannon fodder facing the real competetive dudes

Yeah, I had that experience in other games as well. Even back in Ultima Online, people realised that killing players and taking their stuff was more gain for less work than killing Monsters. It got so bad that a six figure number of people quit that game, according to Origin's exit polls. Eventually, Origin created a copy of the world where killing players was impossible and everybody moved there, because they were tired of being victims. In the end, even the PVP people moved there. But Origin was still out of over a hundred thousand paying players.

When faced with adversity, fight or flight response gets triggered. Most people choose flight, because you can not fight every stupid thing all of the time. It is positively exhausting. Most of the time you save huge amounts of stress, anger and pressure by just walking away. Chances are people will do that here, too, if the problems are not solved.

I haven't had a chance to group yet (looking forward to it and have missed it), but I've really like the effect this has had on match structure even from a solo perspective.

I love the idea of being able to coop quick play with my friends, but I HATE the implementation; stomps in solo play has never been this bad before. Matches seem to last 5 minutes before the more organized team slaughters their opposition. Given the amount of loading screens we have to deal with between games, this faster paced one sided slaughter makes the game not only frustrating to play; but also frustrating to deal with during loading screens.

One thought Walking War Robots has four or five ques. Three or four for each of their specific match type. But the primary que they encourage is “find the fastest match” which drops you into the first available match of any type.
Something similar for MWO could be. “I only want to play solo play”, “I am happy to play with put to a small group in a 12 man drop”, and maybe “I only want large group play (or “only want tightly tier matched games “ etc as another option”

folks who want a fast game take the find the fastest match option (that’s largely me) but when my son is available we can opt in to only play in grouped games.
that might allow the folks who feel very strongly they are willing to take a longer wait time to avoid groups to do so

you could even include an opt in for specific unusual modes like Solaris and faction war

The matchmaking is also straight from hell.

I had a couple of matches this morning were the other side had combination of 2 teams like a 3-men and a 2-men group and the other team had zero. The team with zero got each time rolled somewhere between 12- 0/3.
There was not even remotely something to be had which could be called "fun". This were 5 rolls in a row. The differences, however, between the rolls now and before the single and group queues were merged is:

1. the rolls are insanely fast. I mean, I had matches were I spent more time in the loading screens than playing. Wohoooo!

2. As a good player at least in quite a few roll matches you were able to kill an enemy mech or at least do some shooting before the red wave washed over you.

I don't know why the MM is doing that. This can't be even called "design" or "system". It is just plain ******* dumb and feels as if they want to kill the game intentionally.

Edit: Now the MM even adds people in the mix which even haven't a clue what a UAV is while the other team had 2 lurm boats and a group. That is quite a great mix...

12 rolls (not defeats in a row). That's it for today. See you in a couple of weeks.
