why not make it opt-in?
because no solo player will do that!

I'd give it a shot, just to hopefully experience some good team coordinated matches. I've only done solo, rarely do Faction. Don't belong to any group, so... (and I don't have the time or the steady, predictable schedule to join a group)

I wanted proper drop decks, another light and medium maybe some fun stuff like another color besides slate gray.

If you go to the color tab and select "basic", those colors you can buy for c-bills... Posted Image

I played several matches both solo and with a friend, its been great so far. Won a few times, lost about as much. only thing ive really noticed (besides the blazing fast Q times)is more people using there mics. Overall hope you keep the change

Especially good sportsmanship when a Group and other Players of the same Stable ending up on different Sides do not fight each other...like it happened on Twitch very recently...

Running into exceptional groups aside, solo drops continue to be a lot more enjoyable than before. That's the real question to me, not whether it's optimal, but whether it is better, and it absolutely is.

The consensus in my unit this week was that they preferred the 8 man group queue. My personal suggestion in that light would be to go back to the 8 man group queue but with the change that if matchmaking takes more than maybe 2 minutes the matchmaker should fill in the missing numbers from the tier 1 players dropping in the solo queue. That way teams could drop with odd numbers and still get matches relatively fast and the matches should hopefully be fairly even.

stop crying, go find yourself someone to group up with and enjoy the game.
Im enjoing because finally i can play with friends and no nascaring

[Redacted] The whole reason we play solo quick play is to play SOLO QUICK PLAY!!!! If you want to play in a group go play these new things called GROUP PLAY or FACTION PLAY, which is where groups were always intended to play. FFS....

Why do players "have to"? There is a multitude of other games out there. I for example hardly play anymore because of the current situation but play some games from my pile of shame which I inteded to reduce anyway.

The game surly cannot afford to lose another wave of players. Paul and people abusing the system (some groups are also sync dropping with solo buddies to make it even more "fun") are, however, pushing them hard

And I can guarantee you one thing: Group players who call it now a good change and laugh at solo players will be the first ones who complain and whine when either the queue time skyrockets or the game is closed because a substantial portion of the people just turns around and leaves.

This. 100% this. I know I am using this weekend to skill out my remaining unskilled mechs and then I'm out. PGI has dramatically reduced the fun factor over the last 2 years and this is the last straw. There are thousands of entertaining video games out there. Very few of them are big stompy robot themed, but I guess I'll just make due. Have fun with the wait times in quick play transitioning to the same you had in group play.

This is my opinion about the new combination of the solo and group queues:

It's not simply good - it s phantastic! I really love do play mwo basicly but i wasn't playing it since the last 3-4 month because as a most time quick play player it was basicly a solo player experience. It wasn't possible fun to play with 1 or 2 friends together. The only thing you could do was trying to sync drop. Often that wasn't working at all.

Now we can come together and play quick play. Right now i am playing over 25 hours since the last 3 days and i believe this is explaining more then words could do. I love this changes. Before the last patch mwo was in quick play a solo player experience. Now you can still do solo play (i tried it out for about 8 hours and it's also nicely playable as ever). But the ability to get some friends together is making the mwo quick play experience much better.

I was talking to those guys who where playing with me (about 8 guys) and no one was arguing against this new queue. Posted Image

I hope i have expressed myself good enough. English ist not my native language. Posted Image

Speak for yourself, this mostly solo jock loves the new queue.

Old solo was boring me to tears, run to the middle and circle each other into bits, nah fam, that can't be it. Having the occasional group in your match makes everything so much more dynamic.

Old solo was stompy to begin with, one team got the edge in the race around the focal point of your choice and the other side melted, every single game. I feel like even getting stomped now offers me a better experience, and maybe an opportunity to learn something.

Oh, and as a mostly solo player I don't really care about 8v8 group, so that's a "nothing of value was lost" from me, sorry.

Player numbers are up btw, so miss me with the doomsday spiel.

Over the last couple days I can't help but smile every time a NEW person comes on to say how much they are enjoying the new 'soup' queue (solo + group). The change has undeniably brought new life to MWO and hopefully is a sign of greater things to come.

Ok I'll crawl back into my cave and continue watching from afar..

I'm absolutely fine with the current group sizes. If you want to play an 8 - 12 man drop with your coordinated clan, do it in a separate group match maker. Sweaty bois can fight against other sweaty bois. I play with smaller groups and never enjoy playing against a sweaty clan who has an obvious advantage in coordination and comms.

Each side has to understand the others frustration, which is the lack of a good matchmaker. Being farmed isn't nice ofc, but farming isn't what it's cracked up to be. What's happening is, that the different actual tier levels get in each others way. The top tier players don't want to farm, they don't even want those very tasty side-dishes in their match at all. Close games against their peers is what they're really after. But they aint getting that, and that annoys them as much as a casual is annoyed by getting stomped.

PSR isn't working, tier 1, supposedly the highest level of competition, is a joke, a meme. Heck, I shouldn't be tier 1, I have no business there, but I stuck around long enough to fill that XP bar.

But I don't blame any of you. We totally know who didn't think that through properly. Don't be a player-hater.

Ya i was torn between grolo and soup.. both good.. but soup seems to make more sense considering the mish-mash of players on a team..

Read what OP wrote please.

I did read it, I thought group queue might have still existed just with larger groups.

In that case I'm not really in favor of the change, I play with a group of 6 - 8 people and we all stopped playing months ago because we couldn't get in any games. We were hoping to come back and try out the changes and under 4 it works nice but there needs to be something for large groups, we want to play the game together not just queue and hope we're in the same game (likely against each other).

And another beautiful match of 2 Assaults on our side, with 7 on the enemy's side... I am surprised we only lost 8:12. If this is a regular occurance I need to bring more ammo. ;-)

What I also need right now is a break. Too angry right now to play, need to do some exercise to get my heart rate back down.

Each new match day only makes me state again and again that now I'm getting best experience and most interesting matches since I don't know when. Much less NASCAR, more coordination, tighter scores, unusual tactics. And I am solo now 'cause my friend has just renewed his subscription in a MMORPG. I just don't get it why others are frustrating.

So much fun!

You know what, you are so right. I have the exact same problem when I talk with people on Facebook. We have the most beautiful sunshine, great weather, yet a lot of people are complaining that it is raining... I do not get why they do not understand. I even have pictures... It *IS* beautiful weather. I am even planning on sunbathing later today.
