Just to be clear...it's the 404 page I'm hoping to see. One of these days it will come true. Not today

Sadly, with the changes I am still seeing about the same. Stomps in either direction. Hard to keep matchscore, K/D ratio and other things up when one side folds like a cheap suit. Hopefully as things sort out it will improve.

July / August will be really interesting. Imagine if people actually travelled as much as usual without Covid this summer...I guess then things would get really interesting

That's exactly what I meant. Losing is not a problem if you had a kind of a "match" at least and not a lolololroflstomp. Not even winning is fun that way.
I also wonder if it was stupidity, hubris or both which made PGI to enforce that merge of groups. I mean, much better companies (Blizzard for example) tried to merge solos and groups and it hasn't worked at all. On a second thought..maybe they just wanted to create a sado-masochistic social experiment.

TLDR: Paul thought solos wouldn't want the option to play with groups, so he made a system where solos were forced to play with groups.
When Russ announced that the game is in maintenance mode back in May of last year, the active population dropped like a rock. Within a month of that Group Queue (GQ) wait times became untenable and even solo queue time went up. PGI killed GQ, then for a brief time tried 8 man GQ (it was glorious while it lasted). Players suggested that GQ remain in the 8 man format and that PGI give it a solo player opt in option, so that all players could have the choice of minimizing wait times by being available for either the solo or GQ (this would also have had the ancillary benefit to those in odd numbered teams in the GQ by letting the opted in solo players fill out the teams, thus minimizing everyone's wait times). Paul stated that this opt in option would not be popular enough for solo queue players as many solo queue players do not want to play with those in groups. So instead of giving the solo players a choice whether or not they wanted to play with groups, he decided that what there folks really wanted was to be forced to play with groups, albeit of of 4 or less.
As absurd as it sounds, it really and truly is how we ended up with the mixed "soup" queue that we are now all forced to be a part of.

You overestimate pgi and its more worse then plain stupidity:
And you dont need blizzard, we had groups and solos together in mwo, worked not well.
Then the devs reduce groups to 4 mans with solos and added a groupqueue, lots of big groups split up to 4mans (because they wanted a challenge, wanted to play with friends, [add your preferred reason], but not to farm solos) and the groupqueue was empty, worked also not well.
Then they divided solos and groups.
Now they try groups and solos again, hoping for another result then stomps and farming.
You know the definition of trying the same thing and hoping for another result?

Most are, I don't recall the last cadet that broke 300 damage in one of my games, most can't break 200. The idea that most cadets are a bunch of elites in new accounts to stomp pugs is obviously false. Those exist, but can't be more than a tiny tiny proportion of the population based on how poorly all the cadets you see in matches do. You can also double check at the end of each match, it's not hard.

its hard watching a new player stream on twitch and seeing them get wrecked match after match
on one hand they know nothing and are not good
add to that them being used by PGI as cannon fodder
pretty FU if you ask me

Sure thing. And as of right now one would't even need an alt account, given the low population.
But where are those people coming from? Why now? Was there an advertisement campaign that I missed?

Best part of that scenario that if they're streaming, instead of one person getting the idea that MWO is unbalanced an unfun, however many people are watching the stream are getting the idea never to engage with the game without ever having the need to install.
Peak efficiency here.

That was never really different. Give that new player some tips though, run them through testing grounds, maybe group up with them, tell them why they got killed in that situation and how to improve on it - and you can bring any of them to at least somewhat consistent 200 dmg and a kill here and there within a single play session. In the current environment.
