From what I understand the MM uses PSR from 0 - 5000 to find matching players. Tier is just what is shown to the player.

Quote

PSR range is being increased from 0-3750, to 0-5000 to allow a little more room for distribution with the new system. PSR WILL be reset to 2500 for all players.

My assumption is based on this from Paul. Why would you have a PSR range if you don't use it?

Just switch off all chat, team chat and lance chat and the games still great, don't listen to crying.

PSR could be only used to spread people in Tiers.
It would be logic that it is used in MM, but I cannot remember a clear statment of that… and I was wandering.
Not a big deal

Are you looking at aggregate data or data of individual matches your thread doesn't make that clear.

Based on what metric? There are plenty of people currently tier 1 that will end up tier 4 in the new system. Let it sort itself out. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of new accounts are smurfs anyhow.

Some form of multiplier could be in order... if a person raises or lowers their PSR by +-20 five times in a row they could get a bonus bump in the direction they are trending.

In the first sentence

Using the QP data provided by Scurro for the seasons 14, 15, and 16.

In no way does that specify what form the data is in.

If I understand correctly, under the new system it will be easier to drop in tier and harder to rise so it shouldn't be a huge problem to put everyone in T3.

Good hunting,

Or Drop to Tier 5 on purpose and seal club to your hearts content.

As soon as you start seal clubbing you will be moved out of T5 and I don't know how much fun it is for people to loose the proper amount of games to get back down.

Also concidering how high your MS compared to the other will be and that you are most likely in the winning team...you might get moved out faster then you know it.

I agree, it would be perfect, only if nobody really wrote appropriate things, such as where the dc/afk is... And there is always at least one in every, single game... Posted Image

Sorry man, if you don't know in what format PGI publishes their seasonal leadership data then I don't think we can discuss anything.

Im not saying I would do that Posted Image

But I think it would be possible if you played bad for 25 games at the start.

The leaderboard data doesn't include individual match outcomes correct?

Never said you would ^_^

I also belive its possible to move down by loosing a good number of games but I think it might take quite a number of games and just DC/AFK-ing for 25 games or whatever... to me that would allready be more pain than what I would gain from it.
Also when I move up faster then I move down because the new scoring is compared to the rest of the team....

But then again I am no seal clubber and closer to the seal I think so what do I know.

Also never play against a cat, they have damn fast reflexes ! ^_^

Excited to try the new Matchmaking system. Not sure how well it will go, but this zero-sum approach seems like a big improvement.

I just wonder how this will impact player behavior and enjoyment.

Not a bad system on paper, we'll see how it works out. I do like the fact that they ditched the PSR placement booster. Also it's nice that low performers on a winning team get a negative PSR.

But I still believe that an excellent player on a losing team should go up in PSR and not down.

UPDATE: ETA is Tuesday June 30th.

OK good, it' was about time, 2.5 months is long enough IMO. RESET EVERYONE TO TIER 5 0-POINTS. Since you decided for some reason to include the 24 players in the equation, instead of just the 12 of the team, and keep a ±24 point system, instead of a simple 12-based, then I suggest to make each tier 100,000 points with +50,000 increment on each Tier, so this will give us 4+6+8+10=28,000 games with relatively good skill level with plenty of victories 50+% probably to get to Tier 1, so a deserved title IMO
