Ace Of Spades Builds

More recently i got ace in a dakka MCII-B not long after it came out, and my most common mech i get such killing sprees in is the hellbringer (pretty sure i did it multiple times in that with varying builds). The trick to it though is to have a very passive team that doesnt charge in to secure kills, with the enemy team spreading the damage around as much as possible, leaving you with cored or nearly cored mechs and nothing that is fresh. It also helps if they lack ranged pinpoint weapons (or rely on DPS like racs) so that you can essentially outtrade them. Had a game like this very recently, wasnt ace (i think 6-7 kills), but it was very close to ace since the enemy was hammered and i was one of 3 guys left, the other 2 acted as meat shields and i backstabbed like 2 guys mid game too from nearly full HP as well. Damage was weak though near 400 or so, so it was mostly the rest of the team that left alot of hurt targets for me to finish off with precision burns.
STill, its more luck of the draw then anything to get it, you need alot of factors to come together.
Both teams have to be passive
Enemy team has to spread damage very well between mechs without getting killed by any one of your 11 teammates
You need to survive to the end game with your mech intact
Mechs you encounter need to be weakened or preferably cored out for a 1 shot kill
Your build needs to have an edge over everything you encounter either with regards to range, high alpha single exposure damage, or very high DPS.
The number of games where all of those conditions are met are so few that it is no wonder ace of spades (or well 100% legit ace of spades) are that rare to see. It also is pretty much exclusively reserved for certain mechs/builds since things like brawlers are unlikely to suvive to the end game in a fresh enough state to do some 1v1 action, and pure snipers also rarely get it since the enemy team can use cover to negate your killing potential at least up to a point likely resulting in your teammates getting the kills even if you broke 1k dmg. Still, its fun when it happens and it is nice to essentially solo carry an entire game.

How do you handle the heat of 4 PPC and all those Srms i tried a fully skilled warhark with 4 PPC firing 2 at a time and was constantly over heating even being careful.. Clan PPCs firing 2 fully heat sinked out put me over half heat a volley.
Ahh never mind its a necro thread..
i remember running out of srms about 5 kills in. the match was a very close quarters skirmish, more tradey than brawly though. people werent taking risks. it was on old hpg. i think both teams had made an attempt for the top and gave up after they took too much damage. so there was strong use of cover from both sides. my first kill was over by the bridge (or on my way to it, im not sure) i think i tried to take top and im pretty sure i ended up nascaring instead. team was mostly still trading at the bridge and i was working my way into their flank and racking up a couple more kills.
the last four (i got 9 in total) were just me sweeping through the enemy firing line from the side through the only 2 units that could stop me. once they were gone the others didnt stand a chance. only because my team focusing more on survival did i have enough time to keep my weapons from overheating. usually the team will just collapse on top of the last few kills in the game. but they didnt and i was killing stuff about as fast as the heat bar could clear. there was a couple points where if i wasn't taking my time, i could have easily blew myself up by overheating. the last few seconds of that match were in a something i could only describe as a state of heat management zen.
missiles ran out somewhere around the 5th or 6th guy. the srms can dump damage faster than ppcs, so if you can use them its a good idea to stay off the ppcs for awhile. and its 4 asrm6es, so significant firepower against close quarters targets. you can also use one or more ppcs for killing blows when you have the option of dropping a ppfld on a cherry segment. the asrm6es tend to spread too much for that kind of precision shot and so you might not get it on the first try, a well aimed ppc gets it every time. i sought out to do a ppc build and couldnt find a better way to use the remaining tonnage and slots that wasnt counter intuitive. i could have maxed the engine and heat sinks and had a lot of tonnage left on the table, done something stupid with an absurdly large targeting computer (most of my warhawks do this), or stick on 24 tubes of death and 3 tons ammo. i opted for the latter of course and it payed off.

Yeah i get that all good info its just the last few cauldron patches made clan PPCs incredibly hot now.. I've somewhat given up using them en mass as they no longer are viable in my opinion.

MAD-6S
AC20 + 4xSnub-PPC + AMS + LE300 Engine
~We basically lost the QP game on Grim Plexus, always "1" kill behind.
~8vs9 kills (w0qj make kill)
~9vs10 kills (w0qj make kill)
~10vs11 kills (w0qj make kill)
~11vs11 kills (w0qj make kill)
~12vs11 kills (win = w0qj make kill)
Enemy although ahead by 1x Kill, was disorganized, came to w0qj one by one. Last 3 kills was on the strength of w0qj's 200m Seismic Sensors. In the end, MAD-6S had side torso blown, CT as cherry red as you can make it. Guess w0qj was lucky to get the kill shot off before enemy did at the end!
(My ANH-2A can do damage, but not enough ammo to do over 1000+ damage, let alone Ace of Spades!)

after many many games and years of play, i got my ace today with this:
SNV-A
now show me yours.
Haha, I got my first two Ace of Spades in a single week, several years ago and you absolutely don't want to know what build I was using.
There were no tiers back then, only PSR, I had started playing a couple months before, I was a pretty bad player, something probably clicked on my mind so I started playing better, just mediocre but that's an improvement from plain bad, but PSR had not had a chance to reflect it, so I spent one of those week where you are winning and being MVP of your team most of the time, as I said I am not going to tell you my builds just a teaser: Lurmboat Stalker 3F and XL Shadohawk 5M....
I have "achieved "AoS" a few more times after that but I have to admit the occurrences are awfully sparse since then, a glorious week that was. But I have to admit it had a lot more to do with luck and opponent's relative incompetence than me being a badass.

Second in a 6ERLL Stalker camping the wall on new HPG, but it was a very low ranked match so barely counts.
I've also done 7 kills and missed 8th and even 9th by a fraction of a second about 7 times in the classic 2LB10X+4ERML Legend Killer (also pre cauldron buffs.) Very sad to have your Ace yanked by team mates while you're on CD multiple times

Battlemaster 2C, 5xLPL.
Madcat II-1, 2xUAC/10, 4xMPL.
Direwolf B, 2xUAC/10, 2xUAC/5, 1xHML.
Direwolf S, 2xGauss, 5xMPL.
Each of these has broken the 8 kill mark at least once.

I made bank back then with a Quickdraw 4G equipped with 2PPC, 2ML, 2SRM4 and an XL engine.
I think my most recent was a Highlander IIC-C

Interestingly I get really high kill streaks with a Kit Fox as well, except its heavy mediums and heavy mgs. I don't know whats up with kit foxes. Sneaky mech.
