Yes - Daeron can you please give some insight as to how the recent acquisition will affect MWO/MW5?

I imagine we won't have any feedback until it's closed.
Or I don't expect some.
But It's really difficult to not speculate on how it will affect MWO/MW5

ok, well that's a turn of events…

You're not kidding. I just caught wind of this, and I'm in shock. Looks like MWO's future may have just turned severely uncertain, with a high chance of everything suddenly destructing into thin air. Who knows what the "New Regime" will suddenly turn around and throw at everyone who's still here right now. Can anyone say "Watch Out!!! You might unnecessarily end up being not here at some point in the future!!!" in regards to this matter? :(

To be fair, it's the usual info politic in case of acquisition.

I'm mostly amazed that MWO has made CAD$75 million over the journey...

Also re: MW5...

The title was launched in 2019 and has sold hundreds of thousands of copies on the Epic Games Store alone.

Was it available anywehere else...?

If PGI won the Mechwarrior license extension, they may even have an ace up their sleeve.
Let's hope they play their cards right with this initiative!

I called it! Posted Image Posted Image

This sounds very positive to me. Financial backing, better marketing.
But I'm a noob and an eternal optimist.
I'll leave you veterans to your flame war hehehehe

It well may be the reason all this is happening now. It did say that their last year monies up to September which sounds like that was the original proposal dates. See any coincidences there?

From https://www.gamesind...y-enad-global-7

"The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2021, and EG7 has said Piranha will continue to operate as an independent studio thereafter."

I never post, I mean never. I had to this time. This is great news, it means that investors thought it was a way to make money. I am hopeful that this will lead to a better quality product when the inevitable MWO 2 or whatever comes out. Hopefully PGI is able to hire more engineers and programmers to fix the real issues with both games.

we have an part of an answer in MW5 release date announcement:

Quote

And finally, how will this decision affect MechWarrior Online? It won't! There will be no impact on our MechWarrior Online initiatives, and in fact, this will likely benefit MWO in the long run by bringing more eyes to our multiplayer PvP MechWarrior experience. By the release of MW5 in Spring 2021, we should be well on our way towards implementing significant updates to MWO, including exciting improvements to the new player experience, making sure we’re ready for new players.

It make sense if what is said is delivered.

So what do we know about Enad Global 7 (EG7) and games its developed, marketed, or managed previously?
All I keep finding is financial, stockmarket and investor blah blah.
And that EG7 opened its doors in Jan 2020, but no list of EG7 branded games that are out. (as developer or publisher)

Irregardless I hope EG7+PGI aims to mimic Hello Games. Afterall No Man's Sky died in 2016-2017 and now with years of development and patches its actually a fairly decent game that made a great return from the dead.
Heck NMS even got a Golden Joystick Award (today) and was up against some strong competition.

I think there were a couple discussions going on when PGI started making big changes like 8v8 tests, merging queues, and then running non-stop participation boosting events that they might be trying to make themselves look better for an acquisition. That was 6 months ago. These sorts of things don't happen overnight, so I'm leaning in the direction that their motivation for all these sudden changes was indeed them trying to polish up the **** in hopes of selling it.

On the bright side, maybe this means they'll get rid of Russ and Paul now.....
