Mechs that have already been tweaked in the MechLab by people who know what they're doing could actually be worthwhile for new players, even if they have the ability to replicate them on their own.

They are community designed builds...
...HOWEVER they predate the heat rebalance, engine desync, skill tree related balancing and various weapon balance passes so they are severely outdated and many no longer work as intended AND on top of that the designs were designed by forum vote so many were intentially bad in the first place too.

I'd say MWO is less pay to play/win than many other Multiplayer Games I've been exposed to. Real money is generally only useful for cosmetics or increasing your earnings. Hero mechs being the only exception where real money can get you a competitive edge but it's razor thin.

Yes the Kodiak-3 can be bought for 8,019,582 CB right now.
Guess you have not looked at the price in the first Clan Mech Pack for the special single Clan Mech of choice you get in gold paint.

They come customized, but some loadouts are years old - sometimes from 2012 or so.

You think this is expensive? This is peanuts compared to many games.

You can get MC quick and save them up for buying hero mech (and it's really a plus for PGI side), so go cry somewhere else.

This clearly illustrates how dated this Trial Mech system is.
Easy tweaks can easily be done--better prebuild mech weapons layout, Light Engine or Standard Engine (Just do not use XL Engines for IS Trial Mechs!).

It's a free-to-play multiplayer game. You don't have to pay a penny, but then they charge quite a lot for premium content. Same as all competing games.
In my main game of the past few years, World of Warships, the developer is happily charging towards 100 EUR a piece for the most expensive premium ships.
This game has an exceptionally fair free-to-play economy. Playing free is actually entirely possible, and there's absolutely minimal "pay to win".
I have lots of complaints about this game, but the economy isn't among them.

Yeah WoT and WoW have the player base to sustain their economy - over 1 million concurrent for WoT. Premium vehicles are also much more important in those games as the economy is a lot harsher.
Here- the real world cost of items is absolutely ridiculous compared to the playerbase and is clearly not sustainable. There is a reason they have gone to events every single week, sometimes overlapping each other, increasingly generous giveaways, and plans for more and cheaper packages.

Doesn't mean the mechs useless, it just means its the same as a standard version. Yes they are mc only but still more viable than a lot of mc heroes.

Actually the rvn 3lc is the best one as you have both ecm and stealth as options. The xp bonus lets you always have xp for when you want to rebuild your load out so not having the 'best' possible build is ok. It's almost as if you get free nodes for playing a great ecm light mech. Add on any pt from events and you get a nice 80% xp gain every match.

Maybe it is peanuts compared to many games.
But in MWO it means that you are paying $40 for the privilege to use your new and costly 'Mech to nascar around the same rock as thousand times before.

Dont want to be rude but I am ignorant of these games you speak of?
And how many is many, ten?
Can you list 10 games that make MWO cost look like peanuts?
Are thoses games more sucessfull, if they are maybe they are worth the money
MWO, not so much imo
