Finally got to test the masc stuff out, I love my shadowcat, flea, and hellfire, and I honestly feel like these changes made them lose their identity to me.
Using the shadowcats high mounts to hill peek (something I loved the masc for) feels kind of... nauseous? the decreased deceleration means when swapping your acceleration direction it slows down MASSIVLEY until you hit 0kph, at which point you're no longer decelerating but accelerating, so the rate of speed gain/loss skyrockets. It feels like being on a rocking ship rather than having control of your mech.
The fact that masc on the hellfire now actually slows your turning rate really eats my love for the mech. having a masc meant I could POSSIBLY turn fast enough to actually fight mechs getting behind me if I got isolated, it made it feel more confident taking brawls on the flank, and it made the hellfire a little bit more fun for peeking corners, now I just get to be 1kph faster than a linebacker for 15 second bursts? That's not long enough for a flank, long or fast enough to run away, what does it really give the mech now?
The radius of the circle for knife fighting people with the flea is ALOT larger, this sucks especially when people are hugging cliffs/ridges you can't get over. It's worth mentioning that you can still use the masc to get small bursts of speed to throw off aim, but now it feels like it's just become a slight variation of the locust rather than having a neat niche of going for those <90m fights.
I think at the end of it my biggest complaint isn't even the usefulness as much as it feels like it's a loss of identity for the mechs. masc might not have been perfect, but mechs with it feel like they did bring something different to the table.
edit- Fixed spelling mistakes, woops!
