It is definitely true just like it was commented here previously that people activate on the official forums when the patches or development is bad. This of course leads to people without that many posts in their accounts and this shouldn't be the reason to disregard what they comment unless it is super clear that they are just trolling/alt/something else.

It has also been brought up in this thread how clear majority of the posts regarding the update are negative and saying or explaining why these patch notes on the balance are bad. This is a bad look if a patch causes so much negative comments. Now if it was just one forum, then you could just say that "the forum doesn't like it, but elsewhere everything is fine". Sadly this doesn't apply here. /r/mwo is mixed bag, /r/OutreachHPG has multiple threads and hundreds of replies on the worst aspects of this patch. The many Discords I am in are full of discussion how these changes are not great and what went wrong. Sean Lang and Kanajashi, who both have good reach to the general MWO audience, both have said that this patch is a disappointment and not making sense.

Now if you were a new player or someone who wanted to get back into the game and was waiting/looking for patch notes and sees all this, what would they think? Would they see all the negativity and think that "this is great, time to jump into game" or would they hesitate after seeing that clear majority of all posts about the patch are negative? This is not a great outlook.

Now in my case this patch doesn't give me any motivation to get into game to collect some free rewards or play few quick matches as it doesn't really give me any proofs of Chris or rest of the PGI know what they are doing. Nothing has changed to good, so why wouldn't I chance my status from not playing to playing.

I understand the most of posts are negative, but there wasn't any sarcasm in me while I wrote the post.
I was honest and am saluting developers who broke the 8-years trend of stupid-two-buttons boats.
Am a BT fan from 1993-94ish, and the most fun for me is a RP in it.
If you'll look into MW:LL - there are only canonical Mech's builds in it and you are forced to think deeper, make your role on the battlefield, inventing new tactical moves. You can not just came and shoot-n-win, its imposible...
And there is a wargame in the basis of MWO, not a point-click CS...
So, March 16th 2021 for me is a new birth of MWO and am glad for it.

God i really do not like these changes.
  • First things first, higher damage cooldowns and heat incentivize poptarting. They also make quickless PPC usage ever worse than it was before. Snubs are objectively worse because of how IS heat dissipation works in general you are just better off using MPulse at that range. (light ppc with that kind of cooldown is good for nothing other than poptarting come to think of it)
  • Second, While i was never a big fan of guass myself, using it on only 2 of my 33 mechs you made a slow weapon with charge up even slower making it even less fun to use.
  • Third, while i do hate those flea pilots i RESPECT them and their skill. This MASC change is screwing over a rare and very hard to pull off play style. MASC should not just be a thing that makes you get from the spawn to the front line faster or a thing that makes you back up just to keep those ATMs from hitting min range. The differences in turning really raised the skill ceiling and allowed squishier builds and certain assaults to keep up with threats they otherwise would not have been able to.
  • Fourth, Higher cooldowns are not fun period. Give us back our dakka.

I at least have to give some praise for the MRM buff and the AC velocity. Bullets IRL travel pretty damn quick and its really not fun missing your ac shot because the other guy suffled a little bit to the left. Also the events you guys have going are actually rather rewarding and the extra C-Bills for new accounts were a decent change.

But this patch was terrilbe.

you didn`t disappoint me, I said in advance that this would be the worst patch for balance in MWO history
keep it up, don`t stop, increase the gauss+ppc damage more - coz players with good AIM like me will thank you
but other 95% players will die systematically, coz now it's even easier to do headshots, kill in the back, or just pew pew on highground

hey PGI, you don't understand simple things, if you want to improve the gameplay, then you need to REDUCE damage
although to whom am I saying this :(

Yea they are better at range now but if you get in there face they will die. DPS can't be sustained on those builds

The Patch is a joke MASK... are you extracting the urine lol, how much work went into this, how many man hours wasted for someone's pet project ???

you guys need to start asking this one question every time you consider doing something

"On a scale of 1 to 10, how important is this going to be overall"

Prioritise

SORT THE DISCONNECTIONS OUT...... 10 times a day, no better than launch all those years ago

SORT THE SPAWN POINTS OUT...... Its been flagged hundreds of times , promised and ignored again and again and it ruins maps for ALL players

SORT OUT the only chat system I've ever seen that you have NO access to while queuing or Deployed, its 20 years out of date, friends and clan mates have to wait to see "if" you want to join a group, but no one wants to wait, so the Clan system falls Flat, teams don't get made.

SORT MATCHMAKING BALANCE out ( over the last week I've had how many matches where its teams with 1 assault vs teams with 7 heavies/ Assaults )

SORT out the way your Ranking system Doesn't work, nothing better than a slap in the face each game to make you feel like playing the next one


****K MASK which applies to what percentage of players are you for real? yet how much work time was spent on this pointless exercise no one ever asked for, What essential requested fixes could have been achieved in that same time ?


The Games already dominated by Dakkar and Missiles at the moment, with straight energy builds making up the majority of the rest.


The Gauss is even worse than your figures suggest as you have the build-up to shot time as well, half the time you can't take the shot as a teammate will get in the way. The gauss was reduced to a joke with the addition of the build-up before the shot, even after this so-called damage boost, you can still get more from an ultra ac 10 double-tap, which is instant at medium ranges. Gauss used to be a high-risk high reward pinpoint weapon, that took a lot of skill to use on anything but static targets. people cried too much, they couldn't LRM with impunity from a mile away safe and sound one button hero, 0 skill required.... I suppose the ERPPC became the new gauss, now that's gone as well, with the heat and delay making any player using it prime targets for Lights that can Alpha 60+ damage ( piranha, etc. ooo that's more than an Alpha triple ERPPC, a LOT more , but we will ignore that /muppet)

This is just objectively wrong. Had they reduced cooldown by the same percentage as they increased damage, you could have made the argument that the weapons got buffed in their role. But they reduced dps by 20% so that's an overall 20% nerf to whatever you will be able to do during any given match.

If you brawl sure but the way I use them it's a buff. More damage makes up for CD if you poke with them. If you are trying to face time sure it's a nerf. Seen so many games today with PPC builds doing high damage today. Hey Boris hear they got nerfed that high damage didn't happen?

No. 20% less dps do not care about how you use them. 20% less damage over time will be 20% less than before no matter what.
